I feel so outmatched.

at home, i have a 5570 that gets 63 MH/s(.063 GH/s) going to the slush pool. i run it when the PC is on. and I'm glad just to be getting that 64mh

at least I'm mining when I can when at school.

"I feel so outmatched."

you have no reason to.

how many people on earth - out of a population of somewhere around 7 billion - are doing better than you are?  two or three thousand?

i note that you can probably get $50 bucks for your 5570, and pick up a 5770 for an additional 60-70 dollars or so.  that would triple your hash rate.  40ish BTC/mo in slush's pool.

go for it.  you're a student:  it's not like you have to eat or anything... Smiley
And now my 200 mh/s gets a grand total!

0.0000001/day

Damn.

Time to shutdown your rig, not even worth the time to run cgminer or whatever program you are using..

Time to get back to topic!  Grin

Source: As per photos:

The Zhao approximately 1,500 square meters of mines, mining machine deployed about four per square meter, power consumption 4KW, combined computing power of the entire site about 500TH/s, the new count is about to force on-line about 800Th/s

Nice, but how come it gives me the feeling that the place is abandon?

ooo good luck with the dust there...i would hate to see their operating temps in there...whew gotta be hot hot hot

In the short life time of these units before they become obsolete i would guess the number of miners lost to overheating is an acceptable loss. By the time they are clogged up with dust and need cleaning they will probably already be worthless

The unit should be profitable to run for another year, but by the look it should last less then 6 months...

Funny when you think that if you count the PSU costs @ 75$ you never ROI a .72 BTC S3 miner. (at 15% increase diff and 350w @ 0.1$ Kw/h)

Only winner here is Bitmain.

I already made back 62% of what I paid for my Rockminer boxes in less than 2 weeks and will have no problem doing the same with my R3's.  If you have to ask how, you obviously haven't been around long enough...

Did you factor in your electricity bills?

Re: Bitcoin to be international currency

Imagine this scenario: you take an extended trip to three foreign countries. You don’t exchange currencies or pay the fees to do so. You spend your money without ever taking it out of an ATM or paying international transaction fees.

Sounds convenient and cheap, right?

This scenario isn’t a pipe dream. It could be the future of international currency.

Re: How to teach kids about Bitcoin?
by
BitcoinHeroes
on 19/04/2017, 19:23:42 UTC
As a father, I want to teach my children about money and the wise use of it. My father taught me to be responsible, to save, and to avoid debt as much as possible, and his lessons have served me well. Now I want to pass on those principles to my children, but it gets a little tricky in a world where mainstream financial advisors point in the opposite direction, encouraging reckless lending and government bailouts. Enter Bitcoin. Teaching our kids about Bitcoin can provide valuable lessons about money management that will make them successful money managers as adults and help them to avoid the excesses that afflict our current global economy.

Re: Difference of Trading and Investing?
by
BitcoinHeroes
on 19/04/2017, 19:20:59 UTC
investing and trading are two very different methods of attempting to profit in the financial markets. The goal of investing is to gradually build wealth over an extended period of time through the buying and holding of a portfolio of stocks, baskets of stocks, mutual funds, bonds and other investment instruments. Investors often enhance their profits through compounding, or reinvesting any profits and dividends into additional shares of stock. Investments are often held for a period of years, or even decades, taking advantage of perks like interest, dividends and stock splits along the way. While markets inevitably fluctuate, investors will "ride out" the downtrends with the expectation that prices will rebound and any losses will eventually be recovered. Investors are typically more concerned with market fundamentals, such as price/earnings ratios and management forecasts.

Re: Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price?
by
BitcoinHeroes
on 19/04/2017, 19:10:59 UTC
the price manipulation is hardly the biggest issue with bitcoin. manipulation will not stop regardless of mass adoption (in fact, it may increase as users increase).the biggest issue with it is real use cases that benefit the average consumer, of which there are none.

a lot of commodities are 'manipulated'. there are always big players who understand the market well, and you can bet your ass they'll use their strength to their advantage. don't fall into the overly conspiracist camp and just take in the world as it is. manipulation is just part of the market.

Re: Future of Bitcoin Economics

In the eyes of some, government-backed currencies are coming to an end. To this small group of true believers, central banks like the Federal Reserve destabilize the economy and will bring an end to the supremacy of the dollar. Bitcoin, a completely virtual cryptocurrency, has captured the imaginations of libertarians and gold-standard lovers the world over as the dollar’s long-term replacement. Bitcoin was born into a world that had already begun to move away from paper transactions. Without the influence of governments or central banks, bitcoin truly operates like a free market system. However, despite having a passionate following, security concerns and volatility have plagued bitcoin. As a result, the cryptocurrency has little chance of replacing any national currencies. Nevertheless, virtual payment services like PayPal and bitcoin will likely continue to grow, as the economy moves increasingly toward a nearly paperless world. They may even push paper currency to the brink of obsolescence.

there are two ways to get bitcoin-
BUY- buy bitcoins from the best exchanges who offer best rates and also are reliable.
Earn- You can earn lot of bitcoins through mining. though solo mining is not profitable hence, people are opting cloud mining which not only makes you financially free but also, helps your near and dear ones in earning passive incomes. but, beware of the scams emerging every day.

Re: Is Bitcoin money?
by
BitcoinHeroes
on 17/04/2017, 21:16:24 UTC
bitcoin is an innovative payment network and a new kind of money. but is it money? some call it a new form of virtual currency. others have lauded it as a new type of payment system. so what is it? and why does it matter?
what we call it may not matter much in casual conversation, but how it is categorized does have significant implications when it comes to regulation. If it is “money” or “currency,” then existing laws and regulations may apply to businesses and consumers who issue, sell, or transact with bitcoin. from banking laws to anti-money-laundering laws and tax regulations—whether these laws apply to the use of bitcoin depends on how bitcoin is classified.

at present there is no consensus as to what we should call bitcoin or how it should be defined for purposes of applying legal rules.  courts and regulators are coming up with different theories and classifications as a way of figuring out whether this new product/payment vehicle is or is not covered by different laws.but it is still unclear what is happening right now.

Re: What does a President Trump mean for Bitcoin?
by
BitcoinHeroes
on 17/04/2017, 21:02:12 UTC
Trump has an interesting stance on technology. mainly, he doesn’t seem to grasp it.  transformative technologies, which bitcoin hopes to be during the Trump Presidency, tends to scare the people who don’t understand it. If bitcoin comes to the forefront and legislation makes it way through congress and onto President Trump’s desk, will he not be able to make an hopely decision? i dont think so
