Re: Why the transaction price of bitcoin so high?
by
BitcoinUKmedia
on 05/10/2017, 08:28:53 UTC
I have to say that the fees are comparatively low at the moment (though still more that one wants to pay)  remember when they went to $3-5 recently and that was for $200 transactions! Now they are back to $1 or so - it's not great if Bitcoin is to be a global payments system. Transaction fees have to be kept low - otherwise it starts to become much more for a store of value.

Re: ANN [DOV] DOVU - Blockchain for Mobility backed by InMotion
by

Alright... sounds good. But what can we do with it en why do we need DOV? Can someone give me (a few) examples?  Huh

From my understanding it's API sharing between companies - for example, data on trains can be crossed with data on weather or data from in-car computers can be bought and sold, or insurance companies who install black boxes to record driving behaviour can make that data available.

There are so many data sets arising from transport and I believe DOVU will make them available on a blockchain-based network so companies and individuals can do research and cross different sets for data insight. At the moment nobody shares this stuff but DOVU will help learning and this is why the government backed them in the early stage as it ticks the box for 'smart cities' agenda.

it is more for companies than individuals but the system will support individuals selling their data to the grid.

Make it part of your job.
Theres a good general rule for becoming an expert in anything and thats spend thousands of hours doing it over and over again.
The best programmers have written code for many many thousands of hours.
Spend many many thousands of hours using and working with Bitcoin.

On balance I still find myself confused as to which media stories to believe about China and which ones to ignore.
It would take me days of research and reading around to try and work out which bits of information released by the media are true , which are misleading and which are just down right lies.
There was clearly money to be made off the back of the news from China though.

I think it was Vitalik who suggested the only safe way to keep a private key was to remember it - suggesting passwords are safest in your head.

I can recommend Rivetz - just partnered with Telefonica! - but it closes in two hours so better get your skates on.

Generally though - anything by TokenMarket has a great return

Re: Why is life getting so expensive?
by

The dollar today is devalued and worth so much less these days - government controls the money supply and keeps issuing more money 'quantitive easing' which causes 'inflation' and so FIAT becomes worth less and you can buy less with it. Also watch out for greedy corporations that reduce the portion size of everything so you get less food in a packet  etc etc.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are generally deflationary and have the opposite effect on your funds - their increasing scarcity is designed to work the opposite to FIAT. That is why I am a big supporter for our ecosystem.

Waves is good because of Waves community token. You also have the added benefit of lots of tokens airdropped to you if you have Waves tokens in a waves wallet.

Re: Does World War III inevitable?

I have been watching a documentary about the second world war and it is very complicated the way it came about as the result of unrest across so many different countries. I do not think you could have a 'world' war off the back of the spat just between North Korea and U.S. Why would the rest of the world be drawn into that?

if it really came to it, north korea could be silenced by the U.S. in no time so my answer is no.

Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins

Rich is a relative term I guess . For me I would like to pay for my house I live in and then everything you earn after that is yours to do what you want with and no one is charging you crazy interest for a mortgage. I think you could live well and feel quite rich just by not having a mortgage as it is the most expensive debt in the world.

I keep my wages in Bitcoin until I need FIAT in my bank account then I sell - so I guess i keep it for the possibility it may go up - because keeping it as FIAT is not going to go up - only ever down so I guess it's for fun.
