I dont see how Bitcoin could save environment...
Millions of of ASICs, videocards and other hardware are manufactured only to keep its infrastructure up and they can be only thrown away after a short while.
Lots of electricity is used.

The only good way i think is datacenter in Iceland and other cold areas, if they use heat..

It all can be worse...
Governments can replace fiat money with blockchain after some time and you will have your "private key" in microchip in your body..
All your financial history will be fully transparent forever..
The only little freedom we have now is cash money and goverments are trying to reduce cash circulation by every mean.

So i wouldnt be so excited... just enjoy the moment and make the most profit of it

Some governments are implementing private blockchains for various purposes... Regarding cryptocurrencies for public - i dont know any.  Why not just stick to BTC, ETH etc?
I dont see much use in 100s of various altcoins... its comfortable to work with a few major ones.

I'm not so optimistic... I think they will try to implement blockchain to have access to every financial transaction of every citizen somehow.

Nothing is neccessary.. if you notice price raised high why not cash out some part and fix the profit...

I also use Electrum as it offers more control and is working on Linux (thats what i need).
No issues noticed so far.

Governments can do nothing to completely prevent citizens from using cryptocurrencies.
The only way is to switch all internet off.

Governments will use blockchain to cease cash usage and have financial profile of every person.

Some have working prototype or even functional beta products/apps.
I would trust only these.
