Re: [CLOSED] The Mining Club - 5 KnCMiner Saturns - Shipping Pending

Looks like I've missed all of the shenanigans - haven't really checked this thread since the first couple of pages. I've had a couple of PMs about this, one from an activist to say things are falling apart and one from ragingazn628 with a refund form.

Does anybody mind letting me know what's gone wrong? I'm slightly confused!

StayforaBit is pretty nice domain idea tho Smiley

Yes, I'm quite proud of that one.

I would register it but I can't be bothered. No doubt someone will now though.

If anyone does get something like this up and running, I will happily accept a donation  Wink

Nearly registered it after I read this post but realised I can't be bothered either. When someone cashes out the domain name to some silicon valley exec for two million dollars we're going to feel pretty bad.

T13hydra is probably going to launch a hosting service in Romainia.

Also, offtopic, but Sebastian, I sent you a PM about a guy who might be a scammer. Appreciate that you're a busy guy but could you check it when you get a chance?

Re: BEWARE Bitstamp, SEPA transfers disappearing!!!

That's bizarre. Why did your transfer go through okay and all of our transfers did not? I am worried. Guess we will see if this continues on Monday. Can't understand why they could convert your transfer to US dollars when the Unicredit conversion is supposedly screwed up...

Thanks for the info in any case!

We shall see....

I know how you feel - this is the second time I've used them, the first time there were no delays at all. Bitstamp went offline for a time yesterday, which nearly gave me a heart attack, and then when the money didn't show up this morning I thought the worst.

Keep us updated - I think you'll be ok. Was the transfer reference correct?

Could I ask if it was a SEPA transfer in EURO and when you sent it?

Yup, SEPA in Euro, funds cleared in Bitstamp at about 11am today, but didn't show up in the account until 1pm or so.

FYI, just received a reply in support from Nejc Kodrič. He said they have received my SEPA transfer today buy cannot credit my account at the moment due to a system error in the Unicredit online Exchange converter. The link below shows the site and there does seem to be a problem, it is only listing EURO and Australian Dollar at the moment.

I hope this is legitimate and my money will be credited when it is fixed.

I will post how it turns out.

I had a credit a couple of hours ago - maybe there's a backlog that they're working through.

Re: What happens to lost bitcoins
by

Scarcity is what makes something valuable, the more scarce the more valuable.

When a bitcoin is destroyed, bitcoins become a little more scarce, and therefore worth a little more.

In terms of reclaiming 'lost' coins, this would be impossible as far as I know. How would the network differentiate between a lost coin or one that was being stored long term?

There just sites that require you to submit a form to earn free Bitcoins.

Is this some kind of sick joke? Look at the site!

Re: Looking to buy 1 BTC via instant bank transfer from UK
by

on 12/04/2013, 13:51:58 UTC
I can't spend 4 hours browsing around because I need to purchase something with bitcoins right now and I don't have any. Would somebody from UK be willing to sell me one? I'll pay via bank transfer. I'm looking for competitive price +5% or so on top of BTC-e/Gox

Thanks!

I'll send you a coin as soon as the transfer clears - should be pretty instant.

but the fees still should be lower...even much lower than western union, no?

I think the most cost effective way of doing it it with Ripple or Transferwise.

derivative?

seems tricky.. and i dont think there's a need for that... we saw a huge lemming-wave like 06/2011 ...rest of the time btc is stable enough for a lot of usages. e.g. transfering money internationally with very low fees... for this you just need 30min of stability...

Unless I'm mistaken, I can't see why people bother to use BTC for international money transfers - you need to go through an agent to convert it to fiat anyway, which ends up being slightly more of a pain than just using a traditional transfer agent.

It's a well balanced article that addresses the volatility concerns and shows how Bitcoin needs to mature and succeed.

What say you Bitcoinians?
