Re: Influx of institutional investors in cryptocurrency
by

on 22/07/2018, 18:58:39 UTC
Sometimes we care only about price and forget that we don't need bankers and "institucional money"..

THIS IS A FUCKING SOLID MEME.

But back onto the topic here, when institutional money is causing bitcoin to go up in price people will say that it is good that the big banks and such are getting involved in trading bitcoin. THOUGH WHEN THE PRICE IS GOING DOWN THOUGH, these same people are saying that manipulation is occurring and that we need regulation to stop these bankers from killing us. Pick side folks.

Re: Politicians fear cryptocurrency because it will stop corruption.
by

This is a bit of a tough thing to say, I would say that any politician can find a way to be corrupt while using any sort of currency. If Bitcoin was the currency of this country, then you'd just find politicians using different addresses and having coins mixed at a crazy rate. They would find a way to get away with it, it's crazy to think that Bitcoin would rid the world of their greed problems. The only reason that Bitcoin will never be allowed to thrive is the fact that banks, politicans, governments, and so on and so forth don't want to give up their power to a decentralized coin, and that is the ONLY REASON.

Re: Margin trading on Bitmex, should play or not?
by
Bitguybillionaire
on 22/07/2018, 18:11:59 UTC
One of the biggest rules of investing in traditional investments is to NOT to use money that isn't yours, on BitMex this would be known as Margin trading. I wouldn't even want to do this with a less volatile and less risky investment, which would be stocks and bond funds / regular stocks. I would NEVER want to do this in Crypto where it's insanely volatile, risky, and that the margin trading fees are pretty high. Investing here is risky enough.

Re: Altcoins and bitcoin - Where is the good investment now?
by

My view on all of this is that you're going to have to pick a camp to go into, if the majority of your investments are in both of these alternative investment types then you're going to get crushed if either side faces a downturn. It's simple if you think about it and have been here long enough, as the Crypto market isn't like the stock market where certain sectors will take a hit and other sectors will go up -- you're going to get destroyed if Bitcoin goes down and you hold bitcoin and other crypto alts. Everything in crypto follows itself, once you notice this you're going to be better off then a good amount of people in crypto. Invest in Crypto (a small percentage of your investments) and then in safer, more traditional investments.

Re: Investment strategy
by
Bitguybillionaire
on 22/07/2018, 03:26:28 UTC
Your words are correct but building an investment plan/strategy based on the start of the rally in price is not a good plan, prices are currently rising, but there are no signs of continuing this rise as the correction expectations considered.
Concerning loans, you are right.
Your strategy is simple and ideal so do not expect it to happen and do not consider that the cryptocurrency market is so easy.

Huge black is right, there is no way to know that the market is truly making this 'u-turn' that you seem so sure of. The market is a beast, one which can't be predicted in the least. One which will take your money and burn it all when you attempt to time it, or use leverage, or use an unnecessary amount of risk. If you want to TRULY be smart in the market you're going to have to go in for the long game -- which is the only game which has worked up to current in making people a profit (and a substantial one at that) overtime. I also wouldn't be making most of my investments in Crypto, but that's just me.... I'd much rather dedicate a small percentage here if anything.

Re: Short term investing Bearish/Bullish
by

Why do people even go in for the short game in any sort of market? You're setting yourself up for failure if you're trying to invest in something which is crazily volatile -- bitcoin or any other alt --  and then trying to do it short term which is like trying to time a market which is insanely volatile anyway. People say don't try to time the stock market, let alone trying to time Bitcoin which has literally 'died' multiple times -- https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoinobituaries/ -- and then has came back swinging every single time. Don't go for the short game, you're most likely going to lose. Go in for the long game, it's the only thing which has worked so far....

Re: Is Bitcoin Mining Really Causing Environmental Damage? Maybe not that much...
by
Bitguybillionaire
on 21/07/2018, 20:15:05 UTC
I've said time and time again that this argument that Bitcoin is leading to damage is a bunch of bullshit spewed by the media, governments, regulators, and the sheep that blindly follow these people as a way to discredit Bitcoin (and all cryptocurrencies) Yes, bitcoin may cause some sort of environmental damage -- but are we going to compare this with the LITERAL PRINTING OF hundreds of millions of dollars of money each year, burning of bills to put them out of circulation, and so on and so forth? Bitcoin may use energy, but this energy was going to be used either way. We're not a harmless currency, but no currency is harmless. I don't get this argument by people that don't like bitcoin, it makes little to no sense.

Countries aren't rigid to change like you simply put it, countries are CAUTIOUS to change -- at least the people within them, the citizens, -- are cautious to large-scale change when it comes to changing the currency they use. And to be honest, that's understandable, it makes no sense for someone to drop everything right now and start using this volatile currency of Bitcoin for everything. One day they could have 10 percent more in their net worth and the next day it could be 10 percent less -- do you really think people want this sort of thing? Once we hit a point where we're not so volatile and we have adoption from stores / large companies then statements like this can be made. But right now this statement is nothing more than BS.

Let's just take a second and note the fact that this isn't a scam alert/accusation. This is a SACM ALERT. Not commenting on your proof or anything, just thought this was a funny thing to note.

The LN is going to without a doubt revolutionize bitcoin and all things crypto, but we can't continue talking about it like it's going to come out tomorrow. The LN is far from being able to process large transactions, nor is it able to process many transactions at the moment. I would like to say again that I do love the idea behind it, and I do think that it will do great things if / when it goes public and has the adoption it needs to be relevant. We must continue to stress the fact that it isn't ready for mass adoption yet. Plus, stuff like this SHOULDNT have an affect on price NOR should it matter. I don't know why people always adopt price and innovation together. Look at the shitcoins if you want that point proven.

I don't think this is needed but just for Laudas sake (and my sake of counting the posts), I'll be joining the bounty campaign with this post. Which is going to be number 68 on the account. Thanks.
