Hi Guys,

sorry this may be a silly question, is it possible to mine Vertcoin on the Zig Z1 ?

i get a lot of rejections on MPH and im not sure if the ZIG z1 still works on vertcoin.

@zigminer,

I have 40 zig z1 miners.

In some cases I have the problem that I can reach them but when I log in via ssh I can see via command "top" that the miner the process FPGA_Download is active. When this process is activated, the miner can not start mining.
I searched a lot on the internet for this problem but could not find anything about it that you could find it.

Yesterday I tried the new firmware 1105, this firmware is indeed a bit faster but the layout is the same. Is OK. What I also find very sorry about this version is that they have shielded the SSH and have also created an encrypted partition in the image.

Why is SSH so important to me:
I can then manage and control all miners in my software, like reboot and read out the values, such as hashrate. Because they have a lot of problems with.

The built-in function of the miner does not always work well. That is why I made a script and applied it in the previous Firmware versions so that if the miner stays below the average hashrate within 60 minutes, the miner must restart.

I cannot do that now with the new Firmware 1105. I would like more information about this so I also have access to SSH at Firmware 1105.

@OmerSari

Hi

on the Z1/Z1+ you can try to enable SSH by doing this :

mount the usb and access the filesystem :

edit

/etc/ssh/sshd_config

remove # from

#PasswordAuthentication yes

then save the file.

then boot up and try SSH login.

please let us know your results.

Saw few comments about the core temperature on the interface, my Z1+ runs in a range from 47-52 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Johannesburg has been around the 35 degree mark over the past few days. Is this okay or should I be concerned?

Hi

what it like there in JHB with power cuts and stuff, how you manage the downtime when no electricity ? also whats the going price for electricity now ?

just curious, didnt think there would be a lot of people willing to mine crypto in SA.

if you want to modify the config files on the filesystem then you need to get the root password. if anyone can crack the password here is the hash :

Username: root
PW Hash: $6$pvnavTv2$2W/s.veJLVbb1g9qJpFO7ATNNBiOtwt.MXABU6nRVgJwuiS3WlBrRMj0avAdnHL

Username: fa
PW Hash: $6$muvIxroU$Lcuu06mrLbEONRLK312njB.RTI4dbC9QdJAZ6Bam0RnJpibRO2K62XHBKRKRo3U1IDFTtTAdXb/h.vp8vXuio1

regards

hash for root not full specified.

Here is the correct:
Code:
root:$6$pvnavTv2$2W/s.veJLVbb1g9qJpFO7ATNNBiOtwt.MXABU6nRVgJwuiS3WlBrRMj0avAdnHLt4XSfDBTyt52n7ORs.1hpj.

Decryption Result: root:envision

@Hitsxx

thanks for helping out with the Z1 root pass, it seems that on the Z1+ the root pw has been changed. can you please help us with the Z1+ root pw. here is the hash :

root:$6$Zdo.uFbT$CIOQM3dEZygWrEBH.6iIqQ6G4vbJlf4eKE3B4QRGZ.Ecii.XFDWhxnY.o/41w7V8fJSc14lU//Myd64tO3qne/:17802:0:99999:7:::

hope you can help.

thanks

With this hash, the password is the same - envision

@hitsxx

thanks for checking.

i think the SSH has been restricted via password, i think to get ssh need to do the following :

edit this on your /etc/ssh/sshd_config on the latests Z1 firmware :
change  and remove the # in front of :

#PasswordAuthentication yes

then you can try to ssh

I am having some decent hash rates with Nicehash, but I have between 3-5% stale shares...probably because it goes through a switch with  8 other miners on it, but in case its software related...Anyone know if I can add these commands from the nicehash page into the Dayun miner JSON?

"if you have access to software fine-tuning, you can experiment with these cgminers/BFGMiners additional settings: --queue 0 --scan-time 1 --expiry 1"

@Lpape

I was hoping you could help me with some advise, it has been some time since your post on how to set it up so im sure much has changed, well capstone no longer exists on the link you sent.

is there any better way to setup the mining pool and stratum server for zcash and decred.

please advise.

ok, million dollar question, what is the best coin to mine on FPGA based on current set of variables > 8 x FPGA cards + all Hardware mods + best available bitstream.

Hi Lazyriver

i thought that was part of what FPGA represented, flexibility to mine whatever you wanted even the coins on asics ? unless do you know that FPGA are completely infeasible on FPGA ?

@whitefire990

thanks for your effort on the FPGA,

i wanted to find out if you have support for Decred ? is that something that is available right now and do you have any stats ? im planing to build a FPGA miner and would be great to get some stats.

thanks
