Re: FreeWallet.org is a scam - Elon Musk account locked by Freewallet criminals
by

We all know Freewallet is a shady AF service. What I really want to know is why the hell somebody as clever as Elon wasn’t/isn’t in control of his own keys? Why the hell would he use their crappy, selective scamming ‘wallet’.

Something doesn’t sit right with me on this. I refuse to believe Elon wasn’t advised of a better way of storing bitcoin. I reckon Freewallet paid him to advertise them on his social media or something.

He probably used it for doge, stored a couple thousands I'm assuming. I don't think he's dumb enough to store more than 10k in "freewallet"

Re: BLOCKCHAIN.COM STOLE MY BTC: OFFERING REWARD
by
Bitstarzisascam
on 18/12/2020, 01:05:57 UTC
I know what you're going to say, so I'll say it for you.

Your loss. Should have put it on paper. Should have had a usb ledger. Should have put it on bitcore. You're screwed.....Blah blah blah..... Yeah, coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Here's my situation before you judge.

Opened this online wallet on BLOCKCHAIN.INFO back in 2013. For a few months we mined to this wallet. And we eventually accumulated about 15 or 16 BTC.
It sat forever.

One day I go to my phone and see that my balance is 0.  And I'm like.... what? That's weird.

I have my wallet id, I have my password, I have my seed to get the password that blockchain.info gave me in 2013, found out the hard way that this is NOT a passphrase for recovery.

Now I believe this is important:
It seems that when blockchain.info switched over to blockchain.com my old wallet went to 0.....

I tried restoring my wallet with no surprise yet again a ZERO balance, it doesn't even show transactions at all.

I have contacted the abysmal customer service via their website..... as you can imagine they were ZERO help.......

Has this happened to anyone else?

What I do NOT have is:
*BIP39 seed because they did not provide that back in the day.
*PRIVATE KEYS
*ACTUAL WALLET ADDRESS TO TRY TO TRACK ANY POSSIBLE TRANSACTIONS.

The only thing I have is what they issued me via blockchain.info.....

I can not find the email with the "wallet.aes.json" file, otherwise I would have attempted that approach to btcrecovery...

I'm staking a .5 BTC REWARD for anyone willing to help and successfully recovering this old wallet with the coin we mined. I'd say that this would be a nice $11,000 reward.

Thanks for any help or advice.
Cheers.

your coins are lost, just move on fam. not your keys not your wallet they can't do anything either they have the shittiest customer service.

Re: [2020-08-15] US Prosecutors Seize Bitcoin Allegedly Tied to AlQaeda, ISIS, Hamas

How good are blockchain analytics companies in analyzing coinjoins and mixing presently? Can they follow outputs after a mix or a coinjoin? This might be a concern for regular users, I reckon.

I am quite certain blockchain analytics companies do not have 99% batting average hehe. There are services and institutions in this world that should not have a 1% or .01% error. Airline pilots, the police and the judicial system are examples.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the “largest ever seizure of terrorist organizations’ cryptocurrency accounts” on Thursday, including “millions of dollars” and 300 crypto accounts.

In a press release Thursday, the DOJ announced it had investigated and dismantled “three terrorist financing cyber-enabled campaigns” involving al-Qaeda, Hamas and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

Legal documents filed Thursday show the DOJ is trying to seize bitcoin from 155 addresses it alleges were used by Al Qaeda to fund terrorism and arrest two individuals allegedly involved with facilitating crypto transfers for Hamas.

i lost maybe 25 times in a row when i had a 75% percent of winning! i only bet 5 times when i hit the massive loss streak right from the get go. If you look at the math there's only a 1% chance or so of this happening, clearly they saw I was rolling high percent win and they just made me lose. NEVER PLAY ON THESE "FAIR" SITES! SCAMMERS!

Re: Best way to store bitcoins safely without a hardware wallet(ledger, etc)
by

What could go wrong with having a offline device to store your wallst on? Any risks I should be worried about?

Well, don't lose your device. And you should have a backup.

But the important question (which you didn't answer yet) is how often you want to send BTC.
If it is quite often, you need some form of watch-only wallet to create unsigned transactions.

And here is the difficulty. You need to make sure that you are not leaking any information (i.e. that you install / use that wallet) to your ISP (or who are you trying to hide it from?).

If you don't trust your ISP -> Use a VPN and Tor. (This btw is one of the rare cases where a VPN actually is useful; If you trust your ISP, do NOT use a VPN).
And do not use winodws. Use linux and encrypt your installation. This is important.

VPN/tor isn't banned, the only thing banned is crypto, and I just want to store a sum of bitcoins in a wallet and leave it there for months+ I don't usually use crypto to transact anyways, only holding

you probably don't want to use a wallet which leaks any possible information about you.
Lately this is how I am doing all the things to protect my privacy (in my territory there are no problems with bitcoin by the way):

I have offline device where my wallet is. I have the watch only wallet and it's using tor connection. Whenever I need to send coin - I simply sign the tx from my offline device and broadcast it from the watch wallet. There are no issue with privacy now, at least for me.

Why would you not have a hardware wallet ?
Maybe he lives in a part of the world where $50-100 just for a hardware wallet is considered a huge amount of money and the amount he plans on storing there doesn't even cover the costs of purchasing one. Who knows.
Unless you have an old laptop somewhere that you can use as cold storage as some users already suggested, you are left with the option of creating a paper wallet where you can send your Bitcoin. Electrum would be the software wallet I can suggest you.

No, it's "illegal" here so no I can't buy a ledger/trezor, so that option is unavailable for me at the moment. I heard many people are using a offline storage for the long term holding though..

Hey,

What's the best way to store bitcoins safely without a ledger/other hardware wallets?

Thanks
Use an offline wallet. Never let this device to go online.

Whenever you will need to broadcast a tx:
- Take the master public key, create a watch only wallet using this master public key in a device which is online.
- Create the tx and save it
- Take the saved file in the offline system and load it.
- Sign it and save it.
- Take the signed file in the online system.
Load it and then broadcast it.

You are not going online with your original wallet ever.

Assuming I’m gone need to buy a brand new laptop, which wallet do you recommend using? And what about the software updates? After I download a wallet on the laptop cut off all internet going in the laptop?

Lol, because it's only 0.7 BTC that's why they solved the OP's issue quickly if it was a huge amount you'd be stuck in the KYC rabbit hole trap since they selectively scamming people.

I don't recommend using this trash can wallet, instead go get a ledger and store your coins in there.

Companies that enforce KYC on customers should be avoided at all costs, these type of companies that ruin the cryptocurrency, Why people are moving to crypto? Simply because you can have full access over your funds without worrying about being monitored 24/7 like the banks do now days looking at what you deposit what you withdraw and all that shit, money laundering shit is a joke made by the system to control people, and these mfking companies are turning like a bank now ruining this shit, YET people still do the KYC shit SMH.

This entire story has been going for too long.

I got response how my complaint has been filed, but no response after that. Don't use this platform, if they are willing to scam me for 0.08 BTC, they are willing to scam you for much more money.

Hope this is lesson for you all that no matter if you account is verified, they can still lock your funds and say that you just violated their terms about some lame excuse without any proof.  Huh

Don't gamble with bitcoins, end of story!

Crazy to come back and see & hear how many people still got ripped off by that scam casino, but again it's our faults & we shouldn't be gambling our money on any type of casino online/offline purple crazy doesn't matter invest that money in something that has a good potential because this gambling shit made me homicidal and suicidal at the same time, depressed to shit, in a bit I was gone take a flight and blow the owners head of that casino off, but again it is what it is, move on & learn from mistakes
