Re: [PRE-ANN] Blacknet (formerly BlackCoin) | PoS | No ICO | Snapshot

I am holding some Blackcoin. Should I be worried now in any way and I have no clue who this DrDolittle guy is. Anything important going on that I should know?

The DrDolittle guy is (unless someone else managed to obtain not only the 2 accounts on here but also the original BLK address) rat4, the original developer of BlackCoin.
While he used to communicate with the community and other developers in the past, he suddenly ceased to do so.
Other devs, most notably janko33, started to build a new wallet, integrated colored coins, atomic swaps and so on on top of the original BLK protocol - w/o rat4/DrDolittle - as they had to assume that he abandoned the project (read the posts of the last days to get a feeling for it).
Totally out of the blue rat4/DrDolittle announced that BLK will no longer be BLK and is going to be forked into "BlackNet", obviously assuming that everyone, including exchanges and the community, will follow.

Current situation is:

1. BLK will continue according to the plans and works of janko33 and his group, with BLK being updated to include the improvements from the latest bitcoin core base. That version of BLK will (also) require a fork but stick to the current BLK PoS protocol that is proven by BLK itself and a couple of thousand forks. We do believe, that that version will stay listed on the exchanges.

2. rat4/DrDolittle will at some point "take a BLK snapshot" and fork into his "new Blacknet", though nobody but him (and maybe his secret circle) knows what that is going to mean, what technology it is going to use, if and how it is going to be tested in public etc. You can at this point only obtain Blacknet coins/token/whatever by holding BLK at the moment of the not yet announced snapshot.

Hope that helps,
@janko/gritt feel free to correct me if I am wrong with anything, due to family stuff I could not follow our gitter and other sources closely.

Hi BlackCoinTeam! I would say this perfectly summarizes it. Just wanted to make sure that no immediate action is required. Thank you!

You're welcome.
To stay informed about BlackCoin you should check this new BLK thread and/or the BlackCoin Subreddit every now and then.
Everything regarding upcoming forks, mandatory wallet updates etc. will be announced there at least some weeks ahead.

Despite the, to say the least, questionable behaviour of rat4/DrDoLitte, BLK devs and community are still open for communication about the implications of his new project, as nobody actually WANTS BlackCoin to split up in two different projects. However, in the light of recent events, there's neither the slightest hope that that will actually happen, nor are the other devs willing to put all their work on hold until rat4/DrDolittle decides to give some details or release some code.

You should check out BlackCoin - it is the original pure Proof of Stake coin and BLK PoS is the base for nearly 2000 (partially extremely popular) forks that are in the wild between 2014 and now.
Actively developed, features a qt and a js based wallet, stealth wallet, atomic swaps, colored coins (tokens) and much more.
[ANN] Blackcoin [BLK] | The Original Proof of Stake Coin | No ICO | No Pre-mine
BlackCoin Subreddit
BlackCoin at Giiter (remove blank as the stupid forum script finds giitter "suspicious": https://gitter.i m/BlackCoin_Hub/

Price is low compared to many of the BLK clones, as there wasn't any premine/ICO, no (hidden) reserves, no bribes paid to big exchanges etc.. pp.
Still going strong despite the rather low cap.

Pretty sure I will have to start an account over, I never verified for years on Bittrex or there anyhow.
Your account should still exist at Poloniex, flagged as "Verification status: Legacy" with a withdrawal limit of 2k USD/day (verified accounts have a limit of 25k USD).
Legacy accounts will be frozen at some point in Q1/2018 according to this press release, it seems most unlikely that the new owner will change anything regarding that verification requirement.

not very bad volume on bittrex. But there is only one question. The coin is 4 yo. Why was the topic created only now?

The current volume is actually extremely low (as always when BTC is going up or down).

The original thread is this one with nearly 2.5 Million visits, please read the last pages there or for a (very brief) summary of the situation this post - you will know why there is this "fresh" BLK thread and I don't need to type it all again ;-)

Where can I buy Blacknet?

Wait for a good opportunity to buy BLK, then wait for the snapshot. That simple Smiley

And don't listen to FUD from mutineers like me is not me, or snapshot was already secretly done...

"from mutineers like me is not me" that's a very interesting phrase to use ....

Sign a message with your wallet, it's that simple...
I do not believe you are the original Rat4 ... more likely you bought a BCT account, and it happened to be that of a Dev.
By all means, create a fork of BLK, many have before ... but do not pretend it is 'the' BLK because it is a FORK !

I will not follow a lead DEV that:
  • is rare in his communication with the community
  • rare in his commits to the code
  • completely cryptic in the 2 sentences messages to the community that you do make.
  • acts alone

In addition to the above, it would be helpful to release some code.

What sense does all the fuss make w/o a testnet and code to see? Do you actually believe people (not to mention exchanges and/or FIAT retailers) will support a fork to (and put loads of money in) some secret, untested and supposedly incompatible wallet?

According to the last post from your (?) account "BLK will move to new Blockchain", one would expect it must be quite something, and certainly more than the common little changes the usual "crypto fork scam devs" are capable of (as demonstrated in 99,9% of the 4-digit-number of existing forks).
So - sign a message as requested AND come up with a repo containing some groundbreaking, PoS improving content if you're actually rat4 (and "only" happened to forget all communication skills and manners at one point).

BLK donation multisig account Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.de/r/BCR3KPN

Quote
People at our gitter community are trying to put some new donation management and project funding in place. Part of it is, that no single person should have full access to any sort of funds, with a 2for3 multisig solution being regarded to be the most usable option fo this case.

The names in this survery are users who have been nominated by the other gitter members.

Please be so kind and take part in the survey, thank you for your time.

BTC38 is back with a new platform and has BLK on it again: AEX

Same goes for Jubi, now back as CoinEgg

You are the dev?
No.
rat4 now also known as DrDoolitlle is the main PoS and qt wallet dev.
janko33 is the main man for the Lore wallet which is about to implement the latest Bitcoin core functionality and much more (soon, don't ask anyone for an ETA ;-) )

why?

I finally got my first coins, 1.5 BLK with 10200 BLK on stake. Price must go at least to 1$ or this operation is not economical approved for investments under 10k$. I'm not en expert but I see if you have more coins you will get better share and you will get it faster. Why this time until reward is not same for all included wallets? I hope exchanges do not have ability to stake.
Sorry I have to say that, but demanding that in a PoS system is like asking for equal chances to mine BTC regardless of the hash power.

Exchanges can of course stake as everyone with an online and unlocked wallet - they would be fools to do so though as people could see that they don't use cold wallets.

Guys, before you keep guessing or spread wrong info: BLK is no longer on BTC38 for the same reason as e.g. DASH; NEOS etc. pp: They are about to close due to china regulations.

Nothing to do with the coin itself, volume or whatever.

JUBI did already reopen outside of china and trades BLK: https://www.coinegg.com/, there's also a new BLK centric exchange called http://BLK38.com
BTC38 did say that BLK would be on their platforms again as soon as the reorganized themselves outside of china, as well.

thanks.

Thank you.
Tell me please what% per annum?
What can you expect to have, say 1000 coins?

The overal inflation at 0.95% together with the average net weight of ~10-12 million recently would realistically give you about 6-7% a year.
