Novak, did you get a chance to finish testing the updated sources that support both the U2 and Compac?

I ran Compac on the CGMiner-gekko, and U2 on standard BFG. Simultaneously, with the USB limit scan option on CG.

Yes, it's the gekkoscience compac, get them while they're hot: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1126705.0

Best usb miner available right now, and you're supporting our "local" community.  Unlike the U3, these work!

They're not as good a deal at the price point, but I'll second Mikestang. I got two of them a few days and they've been hashing away happily.

Ok, so just restarting everything seemed to do the trick.

Now I have the compac's running, but when I try to run my Antminer U1/U3's in BFG, they fail to initialize.

Found a solution to the Antminer / Compac problem.

I ran the compac's on the CGMinger-gekko version. I have two of them, and I added to the end of the command line argument "--usb :2" This keeps CGMiner from scanning for other USB interfaces.

Then, I ran the Antminer units utilizing BFGMiner. BFG didn't seem to conflict with the Compacs when I do it that way.

CGMiner recognizes the sticks, but they don't mine.

./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://peercoin.ecoining.com:3336/#skipcbcheck -u blackbird.2 -p 12345 --compac-freq 150

Trying CGMiner now. Getting a "Failed to initiate device" error. It recognizes the devices.

Using ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://peercoin.ecoining.com:3336/ -u blackbird.2 -p 12345 --compac-freq 150

Is there a way to distinguish the U1/U2 from stickminer, so I can put in different clock commands for each?
To the base cgminer it appears as a U3 at this time, so the frequency setting should already only apply to the Compac.

I recommend grabbing the custom cgminer build that actually recognizes the stick as a Compac, though.  See first post for more information.  Alternatively, try using bfgminer.

In case it wasn't clear from my post, I am using BFGMiner.

How can I run these and some old U1's at the same time?

I need to be able to set the u1 clock's and the compaq ones.

I was running this: ./bfgminer -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 -o stratum+tcp://peercoin.ecoining.com:3336/#skipcbcheck -u blackbird.1 -p 12345 --failover-only --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://us.d7.lt:3333 -u blackbird.1 -p 12345

But it looks up the compaq's as well. Shouldn't the -S antminer:all command tell it to only pick up the antminers?

I was hoping I could run two instances, with each one looking like this:

./bfgminer -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 -o stratum+tcp://peercoin.ecoining.com:3336/#skipcbcheck -u blackbird.1 -p 12345 --failover-only --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://us.d7.lt:3333 -u blackbird.1 -p 12345

./bfgminer -S compaq:all --set-device compac:clock=x0b83 -o stratum+tcp://peercoin.ecoining.com:3336/#skipcbcheck -u blackbird.2 -p 12345 --failover-only --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://us.d7.lt:3333 -u blackbird.2 -p 12345

That doesn't work, however. It doesn't detect the compaq devices in the compaq instance.

IIRC the stickminer looks like an antminer U3 to cgminer, that's why it's picking up all of the miners under -S antminer:all.

Is there a way to distinguish the U1/U2 from stickminer, so I can put in different clock commands for each?

What's the BFGMiner code? I'm not able to get it to work on my Pi, when my Pi is already running a bunch of antminer U1's.

I'm kinda getting a feeling that the only problems arise when there's more than one U3 plugged in? Has anyone had the same problem with just one U3 running?

Yes. Mine zombies when running alone. It is a piece of crap piece of hardware. Period. Full stop.

There is no software solution to this "zombie" problem we have all encountered.

I'm hoping to coincide with MacEntyre's September 3rd date, if not a bit earlier.

Thank you for the swift answer. Given that this is a pre-order, I'm sure you understand wanting to stay in the loop on when the order is coming.

I just got word the heatsinks finally shipped, so we'll likely have them by Friday. Novak got word last night the robot cleared receiving customs and will be re-shipping to us soon.

Do you have a new date when you anticipate you will be able to ship them out?

And an hour after posting that, after more than 2 weeks of this U3 working with comm errors, it has now died and bfg doesn't even see it any more.  God, I hate the U3, why do I keep torturing myself with it?  Huh

Honestly, it's just a worthless piece of crap. I'm not buying anything Bitmain puts out without waiting a couple weeks next time.

Are there any bitcoin regulations in country Georgia? Any fee's/taxes you have to pay when exchanging bitcoin and receiving large amount of money via bank wire?

You should seek competent legal advice from a licesned attorney in Georgia, not from anonymous commenters on the internet.

Re: How does the U.S. government's push for "backdoor" access affect bitcoin?
by

I don't see how it could. The U.S. Government has no one to ask for backdoor access to bitcoin. One of the many benefits of decentralized organization.

However, there's certainly secondary and tertiary affects. The government can already get your email with warrants and other compulsory legal processes for other kinds of data: so if you're sending your private keys with nothing more than your email service's encryption, yeah you're screwed if the government wants to eventually seize your Bitcoin pursuant to valid civil or criminal forfeiture order.

why you should do something like that?, just do a regular spent of your coin, if you want to send an amount of bitcoin or whatever

in the future if regulation will be too tough, we will use subterfuge like monero or we can create our own monero clone and no one will know about it

*shrugs*

People are stupid. Obviously no one should be storing their private keys in an unencrypted manner or sending them through unencrypted channels. But no doubt some people do. If you do that, the government, right now, can easily get that information through legal channels with normal legal process.

Re: Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison
by
Blackbird0

Its hardly an arcane reference, you know the California three strikes rule.   Clearly this guy is a loon because his third crime was to steal a toy

From wiki:
Quote
Curtis Wilkerson stole a pair of socks worth $2.50 in 1995. As he had had two prior convictions for robbery in 1981, aged 19, this theft was considered a third strike. He was convicted and received a life sentence
Quote
Issac Ramirez stole a VCR worth $199 from a Sears in Los Angeles, and was arrested as he was walking out of the store. Having previously been convicted of two previous shoplifting related robberies, Ramirez was sentenced to a prison term of 25 years to life

So we're comparing apples and oranges: a recidivist offender sentencing provision, and the sentence of a first-time offender.

I don't like the California three strikes, but we don't do ourselves any favors over here when we compare Ulbricht's sentences to those.

Theres a guy in prison for life for stealing a fluffy bunny toy, such a harsh crime put him behind bars till he dies so Im not surprised this guy will never be seen again

Is that so? Do you have a link to the guy who's in prison for life for stealing a bunny toy?
