For me Ledger Nano S is the best and most convenient cold (hardware) wallet. They've recently updated their software and now you can see your portfolio balances without connecting your wallet to the pc

The question is very tricky: on the one hand, unless and until people can pay for goods and services using Bitcoin and accept BTC as a settlement for goods and services without any fiat, the government is going to be able to control people and regulate operations of exchange Bitcoin into fiat and make people pay taxes on such transactions. On the other hand, if the government permits us to use BTC without changing it into fiat, it is not going to be able to control the operations in BTC There are lots of things the government has to decide.

I got confused: some people say it can't be centralized, some say it can. Can anybody explain whether or not it is possible technically? Does centralization/decentralization depend on where the mining equipment is concentrated?

I believe 2 to 5 years from now we might have a situation when people are well aware of and ready to both accept and pay in Bitcoin; however, I don't think having only one currency for settlements will be very beneficial. I believe we need a number of payment options. That will give us more flexibility
Governments don't need taxes to run. What they need is support, and some of it in the form of money. Where can they get money? Just like all the rest of us: Advertise a benefit; offer the benefit for sale; sell the benefit.
If government did it this way, we could vote for the government that we wanted, simply by how much of their products and services we purchased... and all of it with no taxes.
In terms of transaction safety, I believe it is, but in terms of keeping it (i.e. being hacker-proof) or investing in it for hodling it is highly risky. Nevertheless, I think it's worth it, anyway
