How important is it to have more than 10 connections to your node for solo mining? I recently switched internet providers, and my new provider only allows port forwarding if you have a static IP address. It's only $10 a month for a static IP, but if it's not necessary, I'd rather buy $10 more BTC every month.

Hi all - I am able to point hash from MiningRigRentals to my FB Apollo but wasn't successful with NiceHash. Any tips to get it to work?

What does NiceHash say when you try to verify your pool? You likely need to increase the starting difficulty from 42 to 500,000 on CK Pool by editing the ckpool.conf on your Apollo.

On the futurebit node running solo. At the top of the miner page it says to connect to 192.168.xxxx:3333. On the node page it says local node address 192.168.xxxx:8332 with a connect link to the right of it. Bitcoin core default port is 8333. My local miners connect using port 3333. I have port forwarding for 3333 and port 8333. Do i need to set 8332 as a port forward as well? JUst a little confusing whats the port 8332 for?
Do not forward port 8332, that is for RCP communications with your Bitcoin node. For example, you could use port 8332 to connect Sparrow Wallet to your node. If you're concerned about privacy, that's a great way to keep all your wallet activities anonymous.

Those with an Apollo2 mining to their own node.... anyone having issues with stats not showing up? My mining page shows shares are being accepted but when I go to the solo mining page it just says "Waiting for first share"
Running the v2.0.4 beta if that helps. I'm thinking I might have to do an SD reflash? I did an OTA update from 2.0.3 and am wondering if that's caused something to break?
EDIT: Reflashed the SD and everything works as expected again. I assume I was right and something didn't work 100% in the OTA upgrade.
I'll keep this here as an FYI for anyone else that might have this issue

This is a bug. I too had the same issue and after contacting support they said, " if you are mining to solo ckpool or ocean pool then switch to solo mining you need to update the BTC address field (delete the last letter and re-enter for example) for it to properly update the local solo pool URL."

Is there a detailed explanation of how Solo Mining works in the new Apollo OS v2? When I switch to solo mining, I can see my stats at solo.ckpool.org, but the Solo Mining page on the Apollo still says, "Waiting for first share. Please wait until the first share is received."

What did you have to adjust in the miner_start.sh file? I've got my node up and running on the v2.0.2-beta, but can't get the miner started.
The miner_start.sh didn't work and I had to adjust the start file. I then connected the Apollo to the MCU 2 version of the SCB board via USB. The power consumption of "only" 80 watts doesn't seem to be correct. A fully synced SSD 1 TB from the Apollo 1 doesn't seem to work either. I'm really looking forward to the V2, which will be released tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to being able to repair more of your devices.

I updated the to the new image and now I’m having an issue keeping the miner stopped. I stop mining with a cron job to avoid mining during peak electric hours. Is there some sort of watchdog service that restarts the miner automatically?

Curious to hear people's opinions on the 'value proposition' of these units right now.
And to be clear, I am not trying to flame, but I am running two units from batch 2 that don't seem like they will ever achieve ROI.
To anyone purchasing now, what is your gameplan? What are your priorities and goals?
Just curious to get other perspectives, cheers.
I use my full node so I don't have to rely on a third party monitor and use my wallet. Sure I could have setup a full node on a Raspberry Pi but the Apollo is a very slick package. It would be awesome if FutureBit came out with a quiet BTC miner that consumed around 1500 watts, similar to the Goldshell Lite series miners. I know that's not their target market, but I can dream. For now, I'll have to settle for my Apollo BTC and a few S9s running Braiins to keep the fan speeds at an acceptable level for home mining.
