Re: Would you give bitcoin as a wedding gift?

Some tech-savvy wedding-goers are gifting the digital currency to new couples. Honeyfund, a honeymoon registry that allows guests to give cash rather than gifts, has seen more than a dozen customers donate in bitcoin, said chief executive officer and co-founder Sara Margulis. In recent years, more than a dozen customers have chosen to route donations to the site from bitcoin wallets. Zola, a wedding registry website, has had just two cash funds created for bitcoins since 2013, a spokeswoman said. "I would expect it to pop more as millennials come into the wedding age,” Honeyfund’s Margulis said. “It’s something you will do if your friends and family are already into bitcoin.

Bitcoin as an retirement plan, bitcoin to secure the future of your kids, and now bitcoin as a wedding gift. Whether or not bitcoin replaces cash in future, it looks like the trend of gifting bitcoin instead of cash at weddings is definitely going to catch up and more wedding registeries would be adding bitcoin as a gifting option.

Avoid using a wedding gift "as an opportunity to proselytize a technology you personally believe in, but the recipient could not care less about."

People who are not into bitcoin might not appreciate getting a volatile currency as a gift, and might never use it, thus adding it to the list of lost coins, but I think people who are already using bitcoin or would most probably use it in future then bitcoin instead of cash is the apt wedding gift for them.

Re: Invest in bitcoins today and be a millionaire in the future!

http://www.c[Suspicious link removed]m/2017/06/20/bitcoin-millionaire-erik-finman-says-going-to-college-isnt-worth-it.html

Have you heard of the story of a 12 year old kid who wagered with his mom that if he will be a millionaire at age 18 he will not go to college. To his mothers surprise he is now a millionaire and never went to college. His secret he bought bitcoin at 12$ with a 1000 $ gift from his grandmother.

If we also dream of getting rich in the future it is now time to invest in bitcoins. Many said that we will be experiencing bubbles more often, that is true but we have survived it and still bitcoin keeps moving on.

If we want to get rich invest in bitcoins today. The price of bitcoin today is at 2600$ and moving up but imagine its value 5 to 10 years from now.

Yes, bitcoin's a sensible investment.  Smiley

Re: The reason that keeps me from investing in bitcoin

Hello everybody.

I would like to invest some money in bitcoin, I don't use that money and I don't need it for the next 2/3 years.
I thought I found in bitcoin the perfect way to invest. BUT when I see the fees applied I don't see how the bitcoin will become mainstream! The fees are around 1mBTC which is approximatively 3$. Therefore what is the point of bitcoin?

The only thing I see : big amount transaction

But bitcoin won't be the money you use to buy your sandwich with those fees!

I saw a post saying: yeah burger king is willing to accept bitcoin in russia. Hopefully mcdonald will follow ! But why would someone pay 3$ fee therefore a third of his burger king menu in fee?

Will segwit may lower the fees?

Thank you Smiley

Yes, Segwit's a step towards lowering transaction fees. As the bundles of unconfirmed transactions get smaller, transaction fees will also go down.

Re: Is bitcoin is the new era of currency?

Since bitcoin is trending now world wide because you can easily earn this and it exchange in real cash. Is bitcoin the new value of currency in the internet? Is he the new money? Can we use it in buying foods and etc in the future?

Many vendors are already accepting payments in bitcoin. Overstock is one of them. Its pretty much like Amazon, though not as big, but you can buy products from them using bitcoin.

This hot news is currently breaking on all the wires. South Korea is on the verge of legalising Bitcoin. Fill your bags...

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/south-korea-preparing-legalize-bitcoin/

Updates to follow as we receive them...

While legalization is good, it also means that bitcoin will come under governmental regulations. And this is something that the crypto world doesn't want.

You should move your BTC from your online address eg to a large market like bittrex or viabtc that gives BCC. There you will get a free bcc as long as your BTC is stored there.

Absolutely right it is. But the question here is at what price will BCC launch?

Hey folks! I just wonder, what is with Bitcoin that until now it is still in it's peak and still unbeatable. Has not any one ever invented a new/other currency that matches the value of bitcoin? And if there would be What should it take for a new currency for instance to match the value level of bitcoin? Has anyone here ever thought that a new currency more superior than bitcoin could come out one day and bitcoin value would decrease or fall?

Etherum, Litecoin are there but there's no beating Bitcoin. Its the original cryptocurrency afterall.

Personally, if I'm in a coffee shop or any store with some people, I pull out my wallet and subtly show them my Xapo debit card. Then they get curious on what kind of card is that since it doesnt look like the usual Mastercard or creditcard. Then I explain it from there on.

What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? Smiley

I've just been talking to people about it. I told my folks about it and they were quite shocked. But slowly they got okay with it. Now at least they know that I have bitcoin on me.

Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Satoshi Nakamoto Is Dead!!!

Note: this is a theoretical thread to discuss what would happen to Bitcoin, its price, and fanatics if it was suddenly revealed who is Satoshi Nakamoto and that they are now deceased.

What would happen to:

1. Bitcoin technology;

2. The price of a Bitcoin;

3. How would the community feel.

Discuss.

We still are pretty much clueless about who is Satoshi Nakamoto and it has not affected us so far. I don't think it'll make any difference even then.

Re: [2017-07-28] MCAP Labs- A serious step towards standardisation of cryptocurrency
by

on 28/07/2017, 12:01:53 UTC
[Excerpt]
The last few years have witnessed a paradigm shift with the advent of ICOs, funding technology-driven blockchain startups. Their decentralised model of self-financing through community participation has benefitted both the investors and the owners. However, over the past couple of months, we have observed that the absence of any standard process regarding a crowdsale has led to an increase in distrust among the [Suspicious link removed]munity. This distrust sometimes hurts otherwise brilliantly developed ideas and they face difficulty in garnering the required crowdsale response, thereby leading to their shutdown.
Our last few months monitoring of cryptocurrency market at MCAP Labs involved tracking the potential flaws capable of barring an investor or an ICO from further advancement in this field. Further, we conclude that there is an urgent need to promote and develop cryptocurrency mining research and thereby have launched some essential services like ICO evaluation service and ICO investment service which is the need of the market.
MCAP Labs’ key focus areas are:
● Cryptocurrency Mining Research
● ICO Evaluation services
● ICO Investment services

You can read this complete article here (https://medium.com/mcap-labs/mcap-labs-a-serious-step-towards-standardisation-of-cryptocurrency-world-72614d37b528)

I came across this article a few weeks back and read their ICO reviews on their medium page. Here i am furnishing you a link of Air platform ICO review (https://medium.com/mcap-labs/ico-review-1-0-air-platform-sphre-9ad567d107ca). I also subscribed to their weekly newsletter, where they provide you with a list of upcoming, ongoing and past ICOs they have evaluated for us.
I am just confused whether to follow their advice or not? Your feedback is highly welcomed

I read the review. I believe their initiative is worth appreciating. As compared to other site like Smith and Crown and ICOrating their reviews are quite explanatory. i havent read their newsletter though, I do wish to subscribe it as of now. Can you provide me the link for the same?

Re: [2017-07-26]ViaBTC Launches Bitcoin Cash, the UAHF Token

Believe me, prices will be nothing more than 0.005 BTC in a week or so after release.

Too early to say that. I heard that Bitmain (and its mining wing AntPool) is considering to support BCC. If that happens, then the value of BCC may rise sharply. And if Bitmain decides to support this coin, then at least some of the other miners may rethink their original decision.

Do you really believe its miners who make prices?? No bro, its real users like you and me who shape the prices. And when we talk about users, most of them have no sympathy for this new coin. Community still believes in bitcoin and wouldn't diverge towards Bcc.
" The folk power is much more than fork power. " Cheesy

But what if miners dont fall in line with the users. Users would be the worst hit as it is their money which is at stake. In this situation what i feel is that, users would have to bow down to miners decision at last, if their line of thoughts are completely out of phase.

Re: [2017-07-26]BTC's 10% Plunge Reveals Underlying Concerns About Currency Split

The best option is to just wait till all of this drama can be over. It is only a matter of days before August 1. By then, we could clearly see the bigger picture and I know that the whole Bitcoin community would be standing tall and proud of the direction that Bitcoin will be getting into. Split or no split, Bitcoin can be good for good after August 1. Nothing to fear but fear itself.

Right. I could do with a little more patience. I'd purchased NEO when it was at 1.74 and now its at 7. I think NEO at least will do fine.

What are the chances of living in a world with no actual money ?  Shocked

That is not very likely. Governments will spring into action the moment they feel threatened. In fact, Bitcoin is banned in countries like Bangladesh and Bolivia. And governments' interest has been piqued by cryptocurrencies.

[2017-07-26]BTC's 10% Plunge Reveals Underlying Concerns About Currency Split
by

on 26/07/2017, 13:18:39 UTC
Excerpt
Bitcoin’s volatile ride continued Tuesday, with prices dropping to their lowest in five days as concerns over the activation of SegWit2x weighed on investors. Bitcoin (BTC/USD) plunged more than 10% on Tuesday, reaching a low near $2470.00, according to Bitstamp. The drop erased most of the progress made last week after developers apparently agreed to avoid a currency split. Uncertainty Over SegWit2x Various news sources, including The Wall Street Journal, reported last week that the vast majority of developers signaled support for a new software protocol. This protocol, dubbed BIP91, is intended to resolve differences between the User Activated Fork…
