in which currencies can I invest in your project? will there be support for the fiat?

PASS is sold via official distributors (a list can be found on blockpass.org) who currently require Eth.

An update on the Blockpass project:

Our Token Distribution Event is well underway. You can find the official distributors of PASS tokens on our website www.blockpass.org

We're at a number of events, including this week at the Blockchain Summit in London and the Blockchain Expo in Amsterdam. Come and meet us at these events for more info about Blockpass and the importance of self-sovereign identity.

We also have regular articles on our blog. Two of the most recent ones look at the issues raised in Tezos' retroactive KYC decision and methods to use to identify a good ICO.

Try to put things in perspective. Chances are, as bad as things seem, someone else has it harder. The very fact that you have internet access and are literate means that you already have things that many others will never have.

Look for the good things that you can, no matter how small, and appreciate that you have them.

If that doesn't work, go for a jog round somewhere green and rural-looking.

Re: Is Bitcoin a Scam - No more

It's not a scam although many people try to scam around the cryptocurrency space. Those who have educated themselves about how blockchain works get it, others don't. A crypto event telling people crypto isn't a scam isn't exactly surprising  Roll Eyes

The Guardians of the Galaxy movies have some great older songs in them so I put the soundtrack on every now and again. Otherwise you can't beat Queen!

Re: Worst Movies You Have Ever Watched

Hands down the worst film I've ever watched is 'Happy Go Lucky'. It's the only film I've ever walked out of the cinema on and I've sat through the Russell Crowe Robin Hood remake.

I tried to get my cousin to watch it on DVD (he's studying film and loves to watch and discuss 'bad' movies) but even he can't get through it.

The overpopulation problem would get even more out of hand if no one died of natural causes. Longer? Maybe. Forever? Not a chance.

Small amounts of stress can motivate but I agree. Too much stress sucks and is a huge health concern. People need to learn to relax!

Sometimes it may be reported that China is very anti crypto and blockchain but speakers from China at events are always baffled by this perception as they say it's thriving. Good to hear more news about it!

Re: How to really judge the potential of an ICO
by

There are a number of things to check but some particularly key ones are:

- Does the project have merit? i.e. will it have value in the long run?

- Is it just an idea or is there a product? If there's just an idea you're giving money to a team that you hope will deliver.

- What is the team like? Are they active in the space and are they who they say they are?

- Does it promise a return on your investment? If it does it's likely to be a scam.

Re: Scalability will be the main challenge for blockchain start-ups in 2018
by

Scalability is coming in 2018. The bitcoin blockchain is already implementing the Lightning Network, Ethereum isn't far behind from all accounts and everyone else is racing to solve it for their own platform, or prove the claims they have made of already having a scalable solution.

Re: KYC + all your official papers being stolen and traded
by

Everyone got used to sending that information, since most exchanges (unfortunately) require it.
I agree though, never send your private information to an ICO like ID data, they should not need it.

ICOs are required to carry out KYC if they want to operate in a regulated system. If at any point you are raising money, you have to do KYC or you will fall foul of legal regulations. That's the law as it stands.

Why is there not a blockchain solution for this? There should be some reliable organisation in a country that treats privacy seriously (ie. not disclosing info without a court order) that can certify your information and provide the KYC certification of the information required without disclosing your identity or handing over copies of ID.

There is! Check out Blockpass. https://blockpass.org/

Our app is in the app store and google play. It allows a person to have self-sovereign identity which they can distribute to people they trust. The data is stored on the users mobile device and is shared with merchants as currently, legal requirements stipulate that merchants must be able to view the data on you.

However, we have established a partnership with Edinburgh Napier university (https://medium.com/@blockpass/building-the-worlds-first-advanced-blockchain-identity-laboratory-c53842215ccb) to develop blockchain ID solutions that put the user and their privacy first - such as ZKP.

Re: Will blockchain and IoT cybersecurity emerge with defenses?
by
Blockpass.org
on 02/05/2018, 14:34:40 UTC
With the rise of ransomware attacks demanding cryptocurrencies, will blockchain and cybersecurity emerge with defenses based on cryptocurrency technologies in the near future?

https://medium.com/anyledger/why-iot-and-blockchain-are-a-perfect-match-4d5b6e2a1a02
i really agree with that opinion, that IoT and Blockchain it is a perfect match for future.
What you think about it ?

IoT, Blockchain, AI, Big Data etc will all eventually merge into the same thing.

You can't have Big Data analysis without AI, you can't gather enough data without IoT, you can't have a secure IoT without blockchain.

Re: Is Bitcoin too complicated for ordinary folks?

The thing is, it shouldn't matter how complicated it is. As long as the developers create easy-to-use APIs then users will be fine. You don't need to know how the internet works to send an e-mail.

Re: How to be a good speaker?
by
Blockpass.org
on 01/05/2018, 19:04:21 UTC
Be confident on what you are speaking about - practice it until you know it almost off-by-heart.

Take notes. Everyone forgets things sometimes.

Speak slowly where possible - remember that you know what you want to say (hopefully) but the audience may need more time to process it.

Speak loudly but don't shout. If you have the option of a microphone try to avoid handheld ones so you can flip through notes or activate remote for slides.

Try to scan your audience where possible so it looks like you are speaking to them, not just reciting.

Always keep in the back of your mind that you judge yourself way more harshly than anyone else will. I've spoken at many events and meetings and I can still remember times I got something wrong or did something I though was embarrassing. I've seen many more people present and I can't remember any specifics of the times they have made mistakes although I know some made errors (I just can't remember when or who). It's human nature to be self-conscious but you can learn to get past it with practice and perspective.
