Which coins could be invested in that case?

I remember when Just Dice changed to CLAMS. I was stupid enough to exchange BTC for CLAMS to be able to stay invested. Even if I made some CLAMS, they depreciated so fast that it was one of my worst crypto investments ever.

Investing LTC in Yolodice has been quite bad in part also because of the same issue, LTC depreciating against BTC. So if you can do this using BTC, or at least something like WBTC (if that makes it easier to implement), it would be great.

interesting you say that cause I thought I remember clam going from like .0001 btc to over .01 btc at one point plus staking I mean if you played it out right could have made more than a few bucks

Listen, I'll just have to tell you what I have in mind: I like what JD did - shut down BTC and started their own coin. But I don't think this solved the main problem IMO - whoever admins the site still is responsible for the coins, for the server security, for software etc. If you want to do it right, it's a 24/7 job with alerts waking you up in the middle of night. That's how it is if you want to run a reliable site. It gets better over time as you code matures, you solve most of daily maintenance issues etc.

I am thinking about starting a new blockchain with stakeable coins, but at the same time offering investor and player roles similar to dice sites. In addition to staking you could put your coins in the "bankroll". Players on the other hand could issue transactions similar to "bets" that would win or lose, based on verifiable distributed random number generation.

- The game itself would be a part of the blockchain protocol, so there would be no need to keep data centralized.
- The investors would always have control over their coins (no need to deposit them to any site).
- Investors would gain from both staking and providing coins for the bankroll (with game volatility involved).
- The game would be provably fair for both players AND investors (!!!).
- The blockchain would be fully distributed, no central storage or site. Ideally it would not be "owned" by anyone either.
- For the chain to be attractive I believe some social aspects should be implemented too - user accounts, chat, avatars etc.

It's still an early idea. If we decide to follow it, there will be numerous challenges, but hey, it could be really fun!

It's still to early to talk about ICO, but the idea keeps evolving in my mind and I have started exploring some technical aspects already.

What do you think?

Cheers,
Ethan

Just to be clear though ethan CLAM was not created by doog or just-dice

We have been discussing where to go with YOLOdice next, and I want your opinion about it. I have no plans to convert YD into a "game hub", but one or two extra games to kill time would be fun. And we want your feedback before starting coding!

1. Lottery - a PvP lottery has been on our radar for quite a long time now. The idea would be pretty simple - the more tickets you buy, the higher your chance to win the pool. The prize pool grows when more tickets are being sold. Not sure yet how long the rounds would be. Maybe 12h, maybe shorter, maybe a week, maybe random, maybe a few rounds at the same time. The main prize would get the most of the pool, maybe the second prize would get a small reward too.

2. Any other game - there are number of games out there. Do you think we could implement any? Keno, growing multiplier games, slots... There are many, but how fun are they really?

3. An original game - we have a few ideas for quite original games not found anywhere else that work in "provably fair" paradigm, have instant rewards, requires decisions when playing and could be fun. It's still an idea that would take same time but... could happen.

What do you think? What would YOU like to play at YOLOdice?

Cheers,
Ethen

1 would be really good if you also added free tickets for every certain amount wagered like freebitcoin does. i think it would help give a chance to win big for smaller betters but still give whales a greater chance

However if tickets are given away for free it wouldn't boost up the winning amount. The more people that buy tickets, the higher the lottery winning would be. Giving away for free dilutes that and would have more hands in a smaller pot.

Me too man I love roulette! ..I won a ps4 in a raffle on another btc site (That went to shit(prc aka betking)) playing roulette!!

** I think another cool game to as ethan said "kill time" would be the btc minesweeper style game if anyone remembers diggit.io was a great game but something like that wouldn't be very difficult and I think could be a lot of fun!

We were never streaming ALL the bets, so this should not be a huge problem...

I'll be deploying new code later today so we'll hopefully see a difference. I couldn't do it yesterday because I've discovered a few bugs and wanted to revise the code again.

Cheers,
Ethan

Awesome thanks for staying active and keeping site on top of things!

So far it seems that speed is most important... And it's hard to disagree. On the other hand I'd like to keep the older bets accessible somehow, maybe there is a hybrid solution somewhere in the middle. I am thinking about storing historical data on separate drive or even a separate server...

But if it happens to be too complex, then you think we should aim for speed rather than keeping complete bet history?

Personally I dont care much about the bet speed nor bet history. I record my bets locally.
It would be great if bet results are broadcasted to all existing sessions for an account so
i can record bets placed on mobile on my pc the easy way Grin

Whatever, here a few things I noticed which maybe help to increase the speed for general users:

The All bets stream ('Watch Bets') sucks a lot performance out of yolo and is enabled by default.

Same with the live updates for competitions. Especially on slow and mobile devices it slows down bets.
Thats a client side thing.

Even with Watch Bets disabled and non competition running I get like ~450 bets per minute  (non delayed) using on-site Autoplayer.
Using my self made bot I get like 1k bets per minute. Thats 2 times faster! (* records from times before weekly competitions)

jfyi I use a slightly modified version of RGBkey´s API wrapper for NodeJs. Its modified the way I can auth by login instead of api key.

I think you can get much more out of yolo just by optimizing the web client!

Cheers notYou

Thats originally what i though the whole problem was about not the bet log ...figured it was the fact that like literally everybet streams on all bets tab n like you mentioned th comps

You got this @Ethan_nx i know you will come up with a solution!

*edit: As far as the chat history Im pretty sure doog stores those all on a seperate drive or server so maybe that could help if not to speed up just to clear some clutter

YOLOdice players, we would like your opinion!

A topic that comes up often for many players is bet speed: What can YOLOdice do to make bets faster?

First, you must understand that bet speeds are determined largely by your own internet speed, but also your distance from the YOLOdice servers.  For example the servers are in Europe (Ireland), so players in EU will tend to have much higher bet speeds than players in the USA, or the Philippines, which are much further away.  However, there's another important factor that tends to get forgotten (this is the important one for this discussion): How much of the site's bet history is available on-demand?

In YOLOdice's case, we have every single bet placed (nearly 7 BILLION) instantly available for players to look at whenever they please.  However, if we were to limit this stored bet amount, to something like the last 250 Million bets placed, or only bets placed within the last month, according to Ethan, we could significantly decrease induced bet delays, and bet speed in general for regular bets would likely improve (but again, distance from server and internet speed matter the most for this).

So here's the million-dollar question we'd like you guys to form your opinions on:

Would you prefer to have access to all bets placed on YOLOdice (as it is now), or increased bet speeds but without on-demand older bets?

Tough call its nice to be able to see all bets but we might have to compromise guys I'm guessing thats what happened with dooglus on just-dice since you cannot see every bet placed on JD if there are a lot of users running bots or playing in general ...maybe we can do a public vote?
That's sort of the idea of asking for people's opinions, Ethan just wants to know what the general consensus is. Smiley

I miss understood what the issue was so as far as the log of bets taking up too much space maybe hosting those seperately could be a solution

Great addition! Update of current BTC prize pool..

 https://www.imgur.com/a/I9hVCAI

I think it makes sense the way it is so for example if someone only plays in btc or someone who only plays in doge they can win the btc contest having one comp for al) coins would seem a bit strange

Weekly contests are nice! Maybe it would be better one contest for all coins can't see reason behind separation and four different prize pools Smiley
