A few blocks ago transactions were confirming with slightly over 20 sat/vB fees. Now the recommended fee is almost 600 sat/vB. Absurd.

BitPay wallet is non-custodial and gives users full control over their fund.

Thanks a lot for correcting me, I wasn't aware of this.

This is why I always send my transaction with a custom tx fee that is adjusted manually.  I lowered the fee to my desired amount and just enabled RBF just in case the situation needs me to confirm the transaction asap.
If you are sending funds to your own address or consolidating your inputs, then you can simply attach a low tx fee and wait for as long as possible for it to be confirmed, as long as you do not need the funds. But people who are making payments or sending the funds to another party cannot do that, because you want the tx to be confirmed as soon as possible, and in that case you have to pay more in fees, which is sadly very high right now.

As someone who is inexperienced to this, can you please provide a step-by-step process on how to do this?

I currently have BTCs in my BitPay wallet and I cannot transfer it to my local wallet due to the very high transaction fees being required (more than $20 currently). Is there like a website or an application that I can use for me to send my BTCs by using a relatively lower fee? I do not mind if the transaction would take days; what matters is that I receive it on my local wallet.

I just really hope that in the coming days, the price of tx fees would be much lower. The last time I remembered high tx fees was during the last quarter of 2017. Even if price of BTCs reached an ATH of ~$68,000, tx fees were relatively lower during that time.

If you rely on a custodial service such as BitPay and they don't let you choose the fee, then there's nothing you can do.

$50 bonus weekly to selected users

Based on:
  • Most clicks/sign-ups from the signature (unique link for each participant)*

Hello, I have a question about this.

Should I use my affiliate link in my signature?

I am using l0tt0.com link for now, and I saw some users doing the same.

Thank you for asking. We have not implemented the bonus feature yet as there are only 2 participants currently. So right now you can add affiliate link or not, it's up to you.

I will update the OP for now. Thanks for asking.

We expect to be adding more participants once some essential updates to the site have been completed (such as support for Bitcoin Lightning Network).

Would that, in your opinion, have a chance to be reconsidered to advertise in the forum?
I guess it will be accepted by theymos, but he is the one making the rules (he said about KYC, not about "blockchain analytics company", so I don't know if it is treated differently or not). Because if I would be the one to decide, I wouldn't ban mixers. However, I wouldn't start running a centralized forum in the first place, so I am not the right person to make that decision.

I just noticed the part of theymos' post that had "not requiring KYC" indicated. OK, then how about if a centralized entity or the BitcoinTalk community set up and operate a coordinator for Wasabi which collects fees for coordinating CoinJoins. If the administrators of the coordinating service decides to advertise in the forum, would such a service be allowed?

I believe it's debatable, but it could be reconsidered. Running a coordinating service could be part of the evolution of Bitcoin mixing/tumbling.

From OP,

Quote

Examples of things that are not banned mixers include exchangers (unless they have a mixing function), CoinJoin-supporting non-custodial wallets, and Monero.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476162.0

Why would it be forbidden to advertise a coordinator? Wasabi is already allowed because it's non-custodial and a coordinator is a part of that setup so as such I don't see why it would be forbidden. Only would it be a problem if the coordinator took funds of the coinjoin into custody.

DRAFT - NOT CURRENT POLICY

Starting Jan 1, 2024:
 - Forum accounts that are obviously run by mixers are not allowed. *
 - Mixer announcement threads are not allowed. **
 - Promoting mixers in signatures, avatars, and profile-bios are not allowed.
 - It's not allowed for mixers to do giveaways, sponsorships, bounties, paid posts, or paid ads in posts. If a thread is for paying people to do something for a mixer, then that's also not allowed. **
 - Mixer URLs will be automatically wordfiltered out, but you can still discuss mixers otherwise.

* Existing accounts will be banned from posting, but will be allowed to continue sending/receiving PMs for at least a few months so they can settle any business.
** Existing threads will be locked and archived.
What do people think about this version of the policy?

It's an improvement.

My question for you: what makes services such as those in investor-based games different in that they are allowed to post ANN threads? They're contained in that section, there are warnings and such services are arguably more shady than mixers.

I think the bigger problem here is that this change is controversial not because people think mixers are inherently good and should be endorsed but because there has been a certain degree of freedom on the forum.

Now suddenly (or less suddenly) it is being censored by banning mixers while allowing other questionable services to remain. The treatment is not equal and may lead to other decisions that overall ruin Bitcointalk as we know it.

Let's start by archiving this board, huh?

Exactly zero active users on that board who are not scammers. Nobody's gonna miss them.

Exactly. How come these "investor-based games" i.e. scams deserve their own dedicated board but mixers are straight up banned. Ban every single one of these shady services if you ban one.

This is coming from a person who has NEVER endorsed a single mixer. I've never won a mixer signature. I don't think there's any need for mixers. It's just this decision being weird considering what else is still allowed on the forum.

It would be far less controversial if mixer signature campaigns were banned instead of banning them completely.

It's unlikely #theymos will ban Ponzi participants given all the admin/mods are turning a collective blind eye to such goings on (and protecting ban evaders too)... 🤔

If they're currently allowed here then why would staff do anything about them as it's not our job. I'm sure there's many mods who would happily remove or ban them if they could.

No one cares if xx% of browsers are Safari, or what your preferred language is.

Although the claims OP make are rather pointless, I disagree with you here. User Agent, browser language, resolution (etc. are all very effective at identifying users without IP address.

Remember, if you were to hide all data from a webserver, no cookies would work and most modern sites would break.

I find it annoying that data collection has become this necessary evil that we must accept as if there was no other option. Modern websites would break because they collect data. Most websites do not work correctly with Tor Browser because there are additional checks or Tor is blocked altogether. The only options we have to browse internet privately are becoming increasingly difficult to use at an alarming rate.

The battle for internet freedom is already lost if we simply accept these things.

A question to all of you

Are you using ipdata’s web service?
Are you using Cloudflare?
Are you using Amazon?
Are you using packet switching?

Read this
https://ipdata.co/blog/how-to-get-the-ip-address-in-javascript

This doesn't matter. If you see LoyceV and others as a threat, you should see anyone else as an equal threat. I don't see them collecting anything other than public information.

And if this is about collecting your IP addresses, then you should see every website you visit likewise an equal threat to your privacy.

If you don't like the services they offer, don't visit their websites. Simple.

Initially I thought this change wasn't so controversial and found myself even agreeing with the decision but I changed my mind after reading some discussion here.

This changes Bitcointalk and how we can view it as a whole. It goes beyond just mixers. An important remark made by people in this thread already is that Bitcointalk does not moderate scams. That goes to say, Bitcointalk is still a place where questionable services can exist and promote themselves.

Are mixers so different because they provide privacy or because they can be used for illegal purposes. In the latter case, there should be a massive crackdown on other illegal activity on the forum. Moreso because not every mixer in itself is a scam as people have already concluded in this thread. Otherwise this decision is very questionable. On the other hand, if mixers are being banned because of pressure from the government against services that provide privacy, it is also a questionable action. In that case Bitcointalk is an indirect adversary of privacy.

Must we start to worry in what other ways pressure may be applied on Bitcointalk and its operators?

Harizen was a part of a campaign I managed. Seems unlikely that he would have done this and so I believe his story about being hacked. Hopefully his issue doesn't get ignored and he regains access.

I assume if he was hacked there's atleast some indications of unauthorized access.

Re: You are the product. Corporations spying on us deeper than we thought?

I don't know about whether or nor our smartphones are recording us. I usually hate wearing my smartphone in my pockets and I don't keep my smartphone turned on for very long periods of time. You can do an experiment to prove your theory. Talk about something in front of your smartphone and then do a Google search(or Bing search) about the thing you talked about.

It's true that it's likely not wise to "trust" your smartphone but I don't think we can jump into the conclusion that devices are actively listening on us at all times. It is definitely possible but I can see it more likely to be targeted and not used on the masses because of the inherent risks for the party doing it incase it's revealed.

What I personally think is that people underestimate the vast amount of information that can be inferred by what you and your friends/family do online. Just by browsing something, the advertisers can infer another, seemingly unrelated thing about it. That's more likely how these suggestions come to be. You also need to understand that it's not just your personal activity online. If someone you know has let a social media platform access to their contacts, that means you will be easily connected to that person too.

There's so much information that can be gathered and inferred indirectly without the need for spying directly. The problem is that a lot of the "spying" is perfectly legal.

The below shot is something I like to have you into for me,

I honestly will like to know why the "0" was not counted among the winning numbers even when it was in the same position.

For learning sake please  Cool.

The rules state- there are two ways to win.. Left aligned matches and any position matches- if you win BOTH you will get paid for the higher one.

Three left aligned matches pays more than four any position matches. I hope that clears things up. Good win!
OK, thanks very much for the explanation, I think I understand perfect now.

And yeah, good win indeed but very little compared to what my goal is, and that is the ultimate win, which is x2500, or bad turns worst, x1000  Grin, I will keep chasing even though from the experience I've gained so far, winning this mentioned multipliers seems very impossible, but what keeps a gambler going is hope, so, I am very hope that maybe, just maybe I will by mistake punch in the exact same 6 numbers that the system will choose, and boom 🎉😀.

Good luck on the chase.

When I saw you post that bet, I had to wonder for a moment what was going on too. Luckily I had the game rules to fallback on but dewez had already replied...

Now I added a notification icon, which will make a sound and call you back to the page (you need to grant permission for notifications).
I also changed the title of the page with (1), so you know some notification is there, which will disappear after you click on the notification.

I believe there are no bugs left, and it will call you for more incoming transactions.

I have to admit these kind of features could come handy sometimes. Keep up the good work on your website!
