You could buy an old inefficient ASIC miner on the cheap like an L3+.  They're not really worth running anymore if you have to pay for the electric, but if the electric is free, sure.

Re: Repeated burning of Switch board - What’s wrong?

Wikipedia tells me that power in India is typically 230V 50Hz.

"Licensed electrician" sound like a good answer, but I wonder if that option is available.

In general if part of the circuit (wire, connector, switch, etc) gets too hot to touch, that indicates a weak point that should be upgraded to use thicker conductors.

Is there a way to do this?

People say to use hwinfo64, but that's only available for Windows.

Re: New RTX 3060 Work Around?
by
Bogart
on 10/03/2021, 22:08:40 UTC
Right now there is no known way to get around, and there likely never will be.

Not true. It's as simple as antivirus with the hat colours reversed. The antivirus is wearing the black hat
because it's blocking software legitimate users want. That motivation alone makes it only a matter of time
until it's cracked.

The Nvidia block is nothing more than a signature based "virus" detector with only one virus definition,
that being ethereum miners. Just need to tinker with the mining code to find the signature Nvidia uses
and change it slightly. It doesn't even have to change the algorithm, just the code used as the signature.

Then Nvidia will need to update the virus definition, but that's not as simple as with AV software.
Users will actively resist the update and the only way to force it is with new hardware.

Well it hasn't happened thus far, if it were easily done, it would be cracked already.

Nvidia can also improve it as each new card comes out, who knows, the 3080 Ti could be limited across all major algos.

If I had the crack I would keep it private until after the 3080 Ti launched.

Some of mine show this problem.  Some worse than others.  I had been meaning to post about it.

These are the so-called "error coins" from the first batch, where there is no relief in the metal coin for the key paper to rest in, which makes the hologram sticker bulge a bit.  The deterioration appears to be worst at the edges of the bulge.

I just found out that there are 2 type PSU for L3+

* APW3++ will cost 105 USD
* APW3++ for L3+ will cost 115 USD

The different only the connector, 5 pair (10 connector) and 9 pair (18 connector)

Its cost wise if we choose 9 pair since its could power up 2 L3+ at 220V,
BUT.. i need another view or opinion such as temp, power and effect to the L3+ for long run,

At 220v, each L3+ uses 750 watts (more efficient) and the APW3++ is definitely capable of supporting 100% load 24/7 (unlike consumer grade PSUs). I would highly recommend saving money and going with the 18 connector version if you already have 220v power. We've been running a couple sets in this configuration for months without issue. Total power draw from the wall is 1500w per pair.

I watched your video where you measure the power consumed by an L3+ on 120V and on 220V (240V?) using a Kill-a-watt P3 P4400 power meter.

I tried to do the same thing with my Kill-a-watt P3 P4400 a few years ago.  I noticed that on the label it's only rated for up to 125V, and when connected to 240V, it reported the frequency as 30Hz.  After seeing that I didn't trust any of the other numbers it reported when connected to a 240V source.

A safe. A fire proof safe.

I've read that storing coins in a fireproof safe is not always a good idea.

This guy says he had his collection stored in a SentrySafe fireproof safe, and some time later found severe damage:

I am looking for advice on my latest order. I received notification my miner has shipped but UPS shows it is stuck in China due to "Missing or Incomplete Export Documents, they are working to obtain this information"

I have never had this issue before, but it has been awhile since ordering from bitmain.

Any idea what this means or any action I need to take to resolve?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

edit - I live in the US

I had that happen with mine.  I had to call UPS 4 times.

First they said that everything is fine.  Second call they said I had to provide a taxpayer ID number for the import.  Third call they said I had to pay an import brokerage fee of $18 per miner, but that they couldn't take my payment because that department was closed for the day.  Fourth call they took my payment, but when the driver showed up he still insisted on collecting the fee again (check only, no cash, no cards) before handing the packages over.  The whole mess took like 9 days.

Next order I'll use DHL for sure.

I finally received mine.

I swear, I'll never use UPS again for an international shipment.  Tracking shows the shipment received from the sender on 22-July, and I'm just now receiving it on 31-July.  I had to call them 4 times to get it dislodged, and each time the rep didn't seem to have much of a clue.  Plus I had to pay the "customs brokerage fee" ($18 per miner) twice; Once on the phone so they'd put them on the truck, and again to the driver so he'd hand them over.

I've not plugged them in yet.  I plan to this evening.

For last time we had very much of DRK withdrawals that our hot wallet could not handle.
We had several issues with cold wallet that was consequences of 23 feb accident that did not allow us make withdrawals in time.
It is stilll in the process of being solved and we are trying to rectify it, however we have already started to process queued withdrawals. All of them will be processed in time.

This does not tell me when I should expect to receive my DRK.
Masternode payouts began today, and I am unable to participate because my DRK is stuck in c-cex.
Please tell me when I can expect my withdrawl to be processed.

It is already started and You have our answer via support system.

So yeah, these guys never fully repaid the DRK owed to me.  Out of ~1160 DRK owed, they repaid ~260 DRK with the last payment on 29-May, and now they won't even answer my emails.

Here it is 2.5 years later and they still owe me these same 900 DRK (now DASH).

If y'all could go ahead and...send that payment, that'd be great.

I look forward to the linux client.

Same.  I tried to run the Windows client using WINE and did not have success. Sad

Browser-based would also work.  I think I'd prefer in the browser actually.

I would advise doing proper troubleshooting and diagnosis rather than guessing and throwing parts at the problem.

If you think you have a network connectivity issue, first see if you can reach the miner on the network when it's in its failed state.  If you can, ssh into it and check outbound connectivity, see if DNS is working, etc.

Maybe try running cgminer manually on the antminer and observe its output.

Uh, wow.  Yeah, I would not trust that board to keep operating in the machine and not sustain/cause further damage.

Is that a CoinCraft Rig?  It look very different from my CoinCraft Desk units.

ok so after a lot of talkig nto their suport, buyig nextra sd cards, sd card reader and such.. it ends up the controller they sent me is just notworking.

all i can do with my TITAN is take a pic of few cubes... http://instagram.com/p/wzutFQwqrQ/

any way to run this titans somehow from MAC or Lappy while waitign for fuckers to send me fixed board?

No way that I know of.

What you can try is obtaining a new Raspberry Pi B+ and mating it to your control board, hoping that the Pi is the problem rather than the control board itself.

Have you tried connecting a display to the HDMI port on the existing Pi and watching for clues?

I received a bag of Y-cables from KnC on Monday; About 40 days after receiving the Titan.

I guess I was lucky and nothing burned in the meantime.  I expect the board connectors may burn still, but if they do at least they won't damage the connectors on my power supply cables now.

Re: Anyone else blow a transformer? Whats a safe load?
by
Bogart
on 14/12/2014, 04:08:02 UTC
So the power company upgraded me to a 50 KVA transformer after the 25 KVA exploded. I am running 200 amps at 120v constant. Anyone know if this is safe on that size transformer? I dont want to blow another one, they will charge me a ton of money.

Distribution transformer usually had protection like circuit breaker or fuse. The one near my neighborhood use NT fuse.
So even if there is any overload, the fuse will be burn not the transformer(happen every week  Cheesy).

If the transformer is exploded, it's just weird. Either the transformer already too old or the power company forget to change the insulating oil.

I would say this too. There is always a circuit breaker or a safety mechanism in it, because the companies can't just take a loss of thousands of dollars if an overload happens.
You can also ask the company why the transformer exploded in the first place.

Mine has one of the big ceramic fuses on it.  When I was looking at it closely one day I noticed that the fuse had been bypassed.  I'm not sure why.
