You should probably keep up with this forum: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3543334

It provides the most comprehensive history and in-depth look at all the comedy that is BTC.

Isn't somethingawful something like the forum equivalent of 4chan?

idk, I've never been on 4chan.  I think something awful is less creepy, although that would probably be giving goons way too much credit.

Seeing as how every bitcoin "business" is either a scam or gets shut down due to violating numerous laws... yeah, trust it, after all, you can simply call your financial institution and have transactions reversed when you get scammed.. oh.. never mind.

Re: NewEgg accepting BTC!?
by

LOL! this community is funny.  Nope, they're not taking BTC.  They're taking USD from Bitpay.  Of course they're not actually gonna touch something like BTC, wouldn't make much business sense at all.

Kind of a silly thing to say. You could say the same thing about any payment method that isn't cash in the mail.

"They don't actually take Visa, they let a 3rd party handle it and take cash from the payment processor."

"They don't actually accept Euro, they have their bank convert it and take dollars."

Etc etc for literally any payment method.

What they do on their end is their business. People just want a choice in how to pay, and that isn't a bad thing.

You're ignoring a huge difference between real money and BTC.  A business cannot risk actually touching BTC, as their banks would likely stop doing business with them.  They also risk becoming a target of launderers, and thus risk criminal investigation.  Besides the wild fluctuations in value that make BTC as a currency very dumb, the rampant criminal activity in this community assures that no business will touch BTC except through shady VC-funded ops like Bitpay.

LOL! They're not accepting Bitcoin. They're redirecting 'coiners to a shady site that will then send Expedia USD!  Too. Funny.

That is no different that what most other merchants do behind the scenes to accept bitcoin

So then why multiple threads each time some company says, "Sure, we'll take money in the form of USD... go to this shady company who will give us our USD that we accept as payment."

LOL that you all think a few thousand people circle-jerk-speculating on internet pogs means that they're actually worth real money.  Idiots speculate and drive up the price and people who actually use btc as a store of value quickly unload their btc for product (drugs and kiddie porn, usually) and don't care about the cost of the pogs -- a bag of weed is $50 whether in real money or funbux, after all.

If I'm ever in need of money, I'm just going to run a scam with this community of gullible idiots.  Seriously, is it even a scam when you're all well too willing to just give shit away?  From the days of pirate to now, this community just loves being scammed; alas, it's one of the few things you can actually spend BTC on!

OP, you should probably throw more BTC at their accounts... that way you can follow them through the tumblers like a hero chasing a villain on top of a moving train!

If it makes you feel better, it's not like you could actually cash out that much BTC to real money.
