Re: IRS bitcoin tax question.

I would think so. But regardless, I think the IRS has forgotten what Bitcoins are. Its a crypto-virtual currency with the original sole purpose of spending/moving around money anonymously. Key word "Anonymously." Do they really think people are going to report these earnings...

Well someone isn't to happy with this reporter...

doxxing is never good but that bitch really deserves imho.

And I won't buy that anyone is the real satoshi until I see a transfer from the genesis block to 1C54eeTaX68XNSJbUrmfJPwp7KT8VBGaHZ

preferably a sizable one

The journalist had to see it coming tho. Otherwise he dumb as hell for thinking there'd be no repercussions, whether Dorian was the real satoshi or not.

The dust should settle soon enough Grin

Its possible my source is incorrect,. But the way it was explained to me, and the way I explained it to you all, you should realize that it is a possibility.

Newsweek, finds Satoshi, AP snatches him up, moves him, makes sure he is safe, throws out some FUD to by time to get him out and safe and then drop the story of the decade!

Its plausible, and most likely the case. My source has been in the field for over 40 years and has seen this done time and time again. I believe that tomorrow the AP will publish the whole story about Dorian and the game will be over.

Mehh, guess we'll see soon enough...

Re: Was MT Gox just a ponzi?
by
BrandonQ1995
on 26/02/2014, 03:54:19 UTC
So many people just love to use words like ponzi scheme and pyramid scheme, but really dont know what they talking about, no way Gox was a ponzi scheme.

A ponzi scheme is where a scammer pretends to have some super profitable investment scheme and promises poeple huge profits if they buy a share in his company or bonds or investment fund or whatever, while in fact all he is doing is paying the old investors with the money coming in from new investors and when the moment comes he can not find any more new investors the whole thing will just collapse like any pyramid scheme.

How does this resemble anything GOX did ? It does not

Gox might have been scamming people, but it they were it was the most simple scam, just talk your money and run, but chances are they were just incompetent, first with how they dealt with financial regulators and then how they dealt with the transaction malleability issue.

Urgh love that you said this, people just love throwing around the words ponzi/pyramid scheme. Maybe it makes them feel smarter or something. Mt.Gox fucked up, but this is no scheme.

Mortimer, anything is possible.  You obviously don't understand market caps.  They really don't mean anything.  Learn stocks.  Wall street is coming to Bitcoin sooner or later end of story.

Don't forget, inflation will catch up to us eventually and it will be something fierce, thanks to the FED's easy money policy over the past 4 years.  You can't just print Billions of dollars and expect inflation to not go through the roof.  It's going to happen.

Coins could be a way out of this inflationary period that will hit us eventually, and by that point, tens of thousands of % gains could be quite possible...

My point is anything is possible and one fact, is more and more people with money are jumping into the Bitcoin/Alternate Coin game....  It's going to be a huge market.  Remember, bubbles can last a long time....

I kind of agree with Mortimer tho. Even with the market caps, I can't see Bitcoin reaching 50,000. Of course the value will skyrocket at cap but not to that level I don't think. And obviously every other coin relies on Bitcoin to survive at the moment, but that can always change. Theres bound to be competition that could steal value from Bitcoin in the future.

I think the vast array of altcoins coming out (practically daily now) is taking away from the value of all other coins.

Exactly and only a very few will make it out alive with in the next couple years. And thats where the gamble comes in.
