Re: If you were a parent, would you teach your kid about BTC?

I don't just stop with kids. I love teaching my Wife, Mom, siblings, and really everyone I know. I think it's important for them to learn, but I think if everyone shares their knowledge it'll be for the good of crypto. It's going to be awhile before the average person really understands what it is and that it's not monopoly money.

When you have the newbie status there's restrictions. Also if you use the search tool you should be able to find a "how to" of posting images.

If not Zoidberg why not scale?
by

So I'm wondering what prevents people from scaling like crazy besides the obvious monetary reasons. I've just started and after a few months I'm debating to start putting in a lot of money into mining. I think mining is a dangerous business because the more money you put in the more you make.

Not sure if it matters with these but I'm mostly mining with 1070tis. Thanks for the suggestions already.

Nicehash like programs
by

Hey everyone I've been using Nicehash for a little bit now and I really enjoy how easy it is. While mining coins yourself I'm sure are better you can't beat just how simple Nicehash is. So I'm wondering what other nicehash like programs there are if any that are worth using?

For something like that I would just do google research. I'm pretty sure most people here just use whattomine.com.

Once your status upgrades does it depreciate if you're not active?

Re: What is a bitcoin wallet?

When starting out and reading about wallets I thought it was confusing but it's surprisingly easy. While you do hear about people getting their wallet compromised I don't think it's as common as it may look. Most of my friends that have been doing this for years have never been compromised. I would just jump the gun on a simple wallet and then as you learn the basics you'll move to a more secure one.

Well I'm not sure if you're asking how to get around taxes because that is a thing, but legally in the US yes you do have to pay taxes.

From work. Our lead developer was and is a nut about it. Actually a lot of the other IT guys teased him about it then one day we all started jumping in on the band wagon. Thankfully he  shares his knowledge with us.

I also think it's important to just go ahead and jump the gun. Before your rig is even built you tend to almost over research and worry about every little thing. I think go ahead and even just get a 1 card rig going. It's always easier to learn by doing verse reading the endless knowledge out there.

Biggest suggestion is to learn to purchase with crypto instead of selling it for cash.

Re: Finding GPUs

Hey thanks for responding. So to try to word it better. I'm hoping to scale more and more every month but as everyone knows it's pretty hard to get ahold of GPUs. I'm wondering if anyone has any good websites to track them down outside of www.nowinstock.net. Then I was also wondering of good GPUs to use besides 1070s and Vegas. Thanks again.

I would just start up nicehash. They use your gpu power and convert to btc.

Finding GPUs
by
BtcGeorghiou
on 09/01/2018, 16:58:50 UTC
Hey guys,

So I just finished a 6 card rig to get started and I plan to scale once I get a good base but it seems like I should just hoard GPUs because they sell out like crazy. I use nowinstock.net but does anyone have other ways of finding things in stock? I'm using 1070tis, have not been able to find any vegas but any suggestions to comparable cards would be great.

Thanks for your help

CPU Mining
by
BtcGeorghiou
on 31/12/2017, 11:53:06 UTC
So I decided to add a 1070ti to my desktop and see how it well it would do with that and the 480 that was already in there and was impressed with its mining. I also decided to try CPU mining and it makes around .40-.60/day and was wondering what if anyone would tell me if it's worth doing that? Is CPU mining bad for the computer? How much extra is the energy cost to CPU mine? I'm kinda clueless when it comes to CPU because I didn't even think to try it. Thanks in advance.

I just stated using Coinomi and it's pretty easy to use and I haven't read anything it being insecure. You can use it with your phone which is nice.
