Nobody who has the best interests of Bitcoin at heart (not many) as opposed to the best interests of their own personal wealth at heart (almost everyone), could disagree with this statement.

Look, buddy, I appreciate a good truism as much as the next person, but incompetent sophistry is SOO ancient greece...

What I mean by that, is, we have too many idiots making grand stereotypes and assumptions about what everybody else thinks, what everybody else does with their bitcoins, and how much everybody else "cares about bitcoin." Basically you're sitting around wanking and nobody else really cares what Random Dude #2819875432 On Internet Forum thinks they do with their coins, how much he thinks they care about bitcoin, etc. etc.

How is it that I put $50,000 in a USD savings account for a "Rainy day" (while also spending USD normally) and I am a "responsible saver," but if I put $5,000 (equiv) in a Bitcoin wallet (while also spending BTC normally) I am all of a sudden a greedy speculator who doesn't care about bitcoin? If the stereotypers had their way, everyone would buy just enough bitcoin to buy shit and not save any of it.  If your position is based on truisms and stereotypes you should perhaps spend some time alone, reflecting the kind of person you have become  Wink

Well I bit the bullet and went ahead with an order, but only put a 1/5 of what I originally intended in. It was in my gox account my the time I got home.

Now I only wish I would have done the whole amount.

It's a crap shoot.  I figured things would surely be working again like normal if I made another order today and my funds haven't been sent again even though the order shows complete.  Nice to hear yours went through OK.  I don't know if they will if you try again.

*edit*   mine just showed up.  Nice.

Nice!

I'm contemplating putting the other four fifths through myself.

So I'm guessing I should just forget about using bitinstant?

I mean, if I wen ahead with the zipzap order i have printed up, it's pretty much assured that I wouldn't see the money hit my Mtgox account for another couple weeks? Fucking sucks, cause I'm itching to throw some money around.

I've used $$$ to Gox thru Moneygram / zipzap a few times this week and only had 1 issue out of 4 deposits.

So I basically have a 25% chance of getting screwed?

TBH, i'm tempted to just say fuck it and take my chances. I cannot figure out ANY other way to get funds in to an exchange on the same day.

Ridiculous, really.

bitfloor is a more convenient option, but a little more expensive. ( but they won't short you bit coins just because they couldn't figure out how much the coins were worth when you used moneygram)

yeah, unfortunately I live in a state that does not have any BofA branches. In fact, there are only three BofA ATMs in the whole state, which I doubt will do me any good.

Is there any other way to use bitfloor?

It's a little absurd that I even have to ask this question, TBH.

BTC will end up defeating itself because there is absolutely NOTHING that is straight up about it.

USD>ZipZap>MTgox?

I have done this before, and am confident in the process, save for, I can't remember whether or not it goes into my Mt Gox account as USD or is automatically converted to BTC. The last time I did this, it was six or so weeks ago, when the price was nowhere near as volatile. I want to throw USD into my Mt Gox account, via zipzap, and then move the USD to either bitstamp, or BTC-e, to buy cheaper BTC than gox has to offer.

When I use moneygram through zipzap to fund mtgox, does it appear in my account as USD? And furthermore, can the above be done?
