Cryptsy accepted crap 9.2.0 version  Angry

Regardless what version is used, it is more important that the coin not be monopolized by someone who prevents others from even voicing an opinion. I initially bought a bunch of them but have been slowly dumping since I saw what slimepuppy was doing.

If slimepuppy changes the thread to unmoderated, or if this unmoderated thread becomes the primary thread, I may start buying again. But until then this is a monopoly coin with a fake community managed by one person.

is there a website?

A website existed for some time.

It was archived from early 2013 https://web.archive.org/web/20130501082122/http://chncoin.org to late 2014 https://web.archive.org/web/20141216214248/http://chncoin.org/

Interestingly, the page I viewed in the United States was quite different than the pages that are archived, so it may have served different pages based on geography.

The whois for chncoin.com, originally registered Sept 2012 http://whois.domaintools.com/chncoin.com and chncoin.org http://whois.domaintools.com/chncoin.org suggest that someone has long term plans for the coin.

My last post on the phony moderated thread.

Goodbye catcoin.
Violate forum rules and posts will be deleted.

Goodbye, Hozer.
I have deleted the latest BS from Hozer.  I will continue to delete posts from him and all of his sockpuppet aliases unless/until he posts something that doesn't violate the rules of this forum that have been linked to the OP since the start of this thread.  He's been warned multiple times and has violated forum rules sufficiently to result in being banned.  Next post will be forwarded to the forum mods for proper handling.

(Please note that 'vampirus's posts about the status of his wallet and his conscious decision to promote an orphaned fork remain in this thread and have not been edited or deleted, in spite of this being a known alias.)

I am not "hozer" nor "vampiris" and have not posted anything about catcoin ever on any thread anywhere except what I posted here in the last few days.

I was strongly supporting this coin and thought it had potential until you showed what the coin is really about.

You are some kind of napoleanic cunt trying to pretend you have some power by making a moderated thread then deleting all the posts you disagree with and pretending the "enemy" is just one "disgruntled" guy. Now it is clear why this coin is so cheap.

This annoys me.

I made a reasonable post and someone deleted it.

Then I questioned the deletion

I make some observations and suggestions about the coin and my post is deleted?Huh??

Seriously?HuhHuh?

You guys are out of control with the 'moderated thread' thing.

Goodbye catcoin.

And they responded

Vampiris, you say "version 9.2.0 create new fork from block 44227 accidentally 29 June".

And Slimepuppy, you say "We did, however, cause a condition that would have normally created a simple fork for those that continue to run the earlier 9.1.1 code (...) that would have disappeared as the rest of the community moved to the new code - but hozer (...) merged his older fork with our new soft fork.  That's the piece that 'vampirus' either doesn't yet understand or is trying to twist.  It's really important to note that while the 9.1.1 client will 'technically' join the parallel fork, there is only one entity mining that (hozer) and there are zero CAT transactions there (...)"

----

I'm not knowledgeable about technical stuff but...

There are two 'forks' for whatever reason?

Two groups that each would profit in some way if their 'fork' is the main one?

----

I'll look through this some more when convenient, but here are my observations.

1) The coin has huge potential for several reasons. Excluding the drama it is a strong coin going forward and potentially quite undervalued.

2) This drama, whatever it's root, is destroying the coin and if it is not resolved when cryptos recover the coin may miss the next surge.

3) Though a moderated thread 'controls' the dissent it is probably the worst of many choices.

----

I'm not interested in taking sides but my opinion is that Slimepuppy seems to have 'legitimacy' in directing the coin but if the conversation is being stifled, i.e., by deleting opposing comments, then legitimacy is gone. I know all of the arguments for preventing people from speaking and have no respect for any of those arguments.

It is very hard to trust the conversation on a moderated thread, but do either of you two see a peaceful resolution or is this an ongoing hostile issue?

----

add

Do not worry, now 9.1.1 chain on block  46452 and no more compatible with 9.2.0
Take it somewhere else, Hozer.  Maybe here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=486922.0.  Last warning.

New developers of CAT coin, create version 9.2.0 with some enhancement.
New wallet was compiled 27 June 2015 and used in some pools.
This thread and new version was announced 12 July and they say hardfork begins from block 46331 in about two weeks ahead.
But version 9.2.0 create new fork from block 44227 accidentally 29 June.
All CAT miners, who not switch to new version in first 2 days  Smiley after wallet was compiled, continue mining another blockchain, and
now in opinion of SlimePuppy they are "attackers".

All information about this, SlimePuppy deleted from this thread. This reply will be deleted too.

There is an example of one problem with 'moderated' threads.

I like that coin but seriously, someone complains about deleted posts, rightly or wrongly, then I point out that their post was deleted so mine get deleted. Is this serious?

What forum rules? You are power mad.

Then you post

All right CATs - we're here!  It'll take a few more blocks for things to settle in - then we can see if things work in the real world as well as they worked on testnet.

Comments, questions, or thoughts?  Bring them!

But if a person mentions a conflict you seem to be having with another user you will delete the comment?

Here is the original comment, to which I will add this post in case you delete it.

I like this coin by the way but I am disgusted by petty Napoleons who win conversations by limiting them. At this point I am starting to understand the other user who was criticizing you. Control yourself, not others.

Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Human Mining - Decentralized MMO and Crypto Game
by

The last few comments have been interesting and probably useful but I wanted to bump this up.

Having installed and intermittently played this game over the past day, I'd thought I'd provide a couple initial impressions from a newcomer.

Firstly, excellent work.  From what I could discern, no egregious bugs and worked as intended and while I could not see myself spending a large portion of my day immersed in this, it was certainly enjoyable in short bursts.

I would however describe this experience as more akin to gambling than human mining.  The risk/reward element of having 200 hucs tied to a character necessitates constant monitoring, which is a prohibitive factor that will ultimately prevent a substantial number of people from playing.

My suggestion would be to have a secondary character class immune to attacks that is itself unable to attack, that just walks around collecting coins.  This would allow people like myself the ability to play for a few minutes a day without the threat of losses exceeding gains.  Call them gatherers and maybe tie 1500 coins to each individual character to limit their footprint on the map.  Not only would this generate new user interest, but would likely drive the price up considerably.

There are a lot of possibilities for sure, different types of 'games'.

Icon responded to entropy by saying

Lol but its called huntercoin for a reason..

Besides they already got a game out like that called Hello Kitty Adventure isle.. Where instead of "killing" someone you simply put them to "sleep" and loot them Smiley

It's time - we can get to this fork and have a coin that works or we can lose the blockchain to our attackers.  It's up to us.

Looks like a cool coin and very active but obviously some drama. Can you or somebody briefly summarize the drama in one post? Thanks.

Actually i think the price will go down, because its a too convenient coin, i mean 1 guy here said that he earns like 1000 HUC /day, which is like 0.05BTC just by randomly playing.

Now if those skilled chinese player guys come in, they will earn 2-3 BTC/ day guaranteed, because they are very disciplined and good at gaming.

So imagine if 1000 chinese guys just come in and extract 1 btc/day each, the price will collapse in notime lol.

I dont think its a good investment , yet.

There's a fundamental economic mistake here:  The total amount of coins distributed per day is fixed, just as it is with Bitcoin.  The only way why someone can actually earn so many coins in a day is because noone else is competing at the moment.  As soon as more people (from China or somewhere else) start to do that, each one automatically gets less.

as an addition to this:

14400 coins are generated each day.

This will halve after approx 4 years (from Feb 2014).

Human mining is probably the next big step in cryptocurrency.

NGOs spend billions distributing survival sustenance to a lot of people who would need no help if they could earn us$1 per day.

Pretty soon a lot of aid will be delivered through a process that is a variation of mining something like huntercoin.

This coin might or might not be a key player eventually in providing income and other things in the third world, but at the least it serves as a template for the next generation of ethical mining coins. Wherever huc fits in the process, it will get a lot of good publicity for being an original human mined coin and for that alone it is a good investment.

Thousands of altcoins followed bitcoin, but only a few lead and huc is one of them.

When a huge number of people start mining human mineable coins the conventional variables used to assess the value of a coin will change.

Coin looks good, but it will need some more work on it, especially it will need a lightweight gaming client.

Pretty hard to play this game if you have to download 50 gb of blockchain parallel to it, but anyway i tweeted it, lets see more support:

https://twitter.com/RealBitcoinBlog/status/624488715180748800

It's only 12 GiB of blockchain (8 GiB when using the compressed version on chain.huntercoin.org).  But yes, I agree that this is still very inconvenient. Wink

I hold like 20 different cryptos on my PC its very inconvenient to download the blockchain for all of them. It's easier for more established coins to just create lightweight wallets to let us try out.

While new coins which has less than 3 GB are lets say acceptable.

Agree that the blockchain is too big. Probably the best coin investment there is, alongside Maza, but some people are put off by the heavy chain.

The devs have made a cool project though and when HUC catches fire it will be popular.

Why is Cryptsy HUC wallet still offline?

MazaCoin block explorer is up!

http://mzc.explorer.bitnodes.net/

Cheers!

Doesn't seem to be up to date.

2/secondly (i should know this but haven't massed around with wallets in longtime)
if after wallet is downloaded and synced and I restart qt wallet and hasn't caught up with latest blocks, can i add a password then? before caught up?
as remember when adding a passord from longtime back, wallet shuts down, then restart later after adding a password

appreciate any replies
cheers

All wallets will shut down when you add a password but it will only lose a few seconds synch time. Password is important enough to spend a few seconds on. More security if you create the wallet on an offline computer then download the blockchain and when you need to send coins rescan with the wallet.dat you created offline.

we are still testing the fixes.

thoroughly.

Also awaiting this, v1.2 keeps freezing and only loads 1 week worth of blocks each run... that had take endless hours and x weeks to update to near 755k...

For now, it's recommended to just use 1.2
https://mega.co.nz/#!QUtQlYQA!tS3UVz0xMv7KlYgQeAHZp3W1MVMYKjd7IbR732QEdUk

We may delay the hardfork a little later.

If you don't have an SSD, syncing will be very slow (on windows you may see "not responding", just leave it). Although. Once you get passed block 255k syncing is fast (first natural disaster).

The easiest way is to download the chain as pointed out by domob.

The slow initial syncing will be fixed in a future update - using a number of methods - i.e. huntercore (based on namecore, based on bitcoin core), pruning and lite clients.

-
the Unity Client has now been updated for the Hardfork (will release when it's live).

Would be nice to have a lite client. This coin would already be in the top 50 if there were a wallet that didn't need such a huge download. Any rough timetables?

What I really think would help the people the coin was made for (and give it more point to hold then just speculation for me) would be if some Lakota trades people would set up online shops to sell some of their work for MZC. Then wealth is actually flowing into their community, instead of just kinda spreading around mzc in a way that might actually decrease its value as everyone sells it off with nothing else to use it for.

Certainly that applies to all coins in a theoretical way.

In pactical terms, altcoins need some "hook" to become mainstream. All the phony "buy x with altcoins" do nothing since they offer nothing really. But Mazacoin potentially offers a real "hook" for altcoins.

Natives have an authentic reason for wanting their own currency and a lot of other people in other places understand. If Lakota sellers of art and other stuff offered discounts for paying with Native currency it would get publicity, and if the Native currency they accepted was an altcoin it would be a mainstream practical use that would be supported by others.

The big question right now is which currency Natives will use. Maza will always have some relevancy because it was the first specifically Native altcoin. But other tribes might create their own coins or whatever.

American Natives are leading.

Maza has had plenty of publicity.

What it lacks is credibility because nobody has started promoting it adequately among the tribes.

When someone seriously starts promoting it as a tribal currency it will jump to the sky. I'm willing to donate a fair amount of my coins to a solid distribution effort but it has to be directly to people for whom the coin is intended.

A lot of MZC holders are probably willing to donate substantially to distributing the coin but it has to be in a practical way.
