"BitCasino.io's investigations have confirmed that their third-party email software Customer.io was compromised, which resulted in fraudulent emails being sent out to a pre-defined group of players"
They should refund the people who fell for the scam. It was their responsibility to keep their mail servers safe, they failed to do so, and resulted in a monetary loss of their customers.
Besides, the amounts lost were completely trivial in the grand scheme of things so it would be good PR for them to do it. Not that it is their duty to do it, but acknowledging the situation and reimbursing losses instead of just glancing over the issue is much more sensible. Ofc, certain protocol would need to be followed to ensure that the perpetrators themselves are not taking advantage of the situtaion.
But yeah, I've never seen any gambling site directly ask for funds through an email in return for more money. If you receive such a notice, it is 100% a scam.
agreed,Customer.io or BitCasino, or both, should refund the players.

Just read on lcb forum, that BitCasino.io issued a warning about circulating email scam. " Its important for you to know that the email contained fraudulent Bitcoin and Ethereum wallet addresses where you were asked to deposit funds to receive future interest. These are NOT BitCasino.io wallet addresses, please do not transfer any funds."
"BitCasino.io's investigations have confirmed that their third-party email software Customer.io was compromised, which resulted in fraudulent emails being sent out to a pre-defined group of players.
Currently, BitCasino.io found out that in 24 hours three transactions were made to the fraudulent wallet addresses, totalling 0.00037299 BTC and 2.0665 ETH. This situation and wallet address will be monitored further"

They pulled a classic "bait and switch," promising one thing and then reneging a few months later. This was done out of pure greed, or because the company is having financial difficulties.
that is some BS. classic ripoff

Re: Would you return $8,657.00 worth of Bitcoin like this fella?
Depends, since it's from a casino, probably no, But if from another person definitely.
theoretically speaking why would you be paying at a casino if you feel this way? If u dont trust a casino enough to return them the money, then you wouldnt trust to play with them to being with. right>?

If they apologize for the mistake and maybe offer me a reward for return yes, else no. It's a casino anyway, they make money stealing/cheating so they deserve it hahaha
according to the article I linked in OP, the player did get 'some compensation" :

one time we had organized a cash contest on a social forum I used to work, and our finance guy accidently sent $1500 instead of $15 to one of the contest winners. They never came back even though we tried to reach them many times.

I dont want to be hypocrite because this is a good amount and caming from a Gambling suckers?we know casino is gaining greatly and had some issues of cheating gamblers,so for me i will only cross the bridge when i get there.
If that amount only came from some other company or individuals.for sure i will instantly return once asked because thats not literally deserved not to be returned
well it really comes down to where you gamble. Not all casinos are dirty, actually most arent. the problem is that all those shady casinos are offering "too good to be true" promotions and ppl then get burned. Why I think its important to do your research before playing anywhere.
with that said, if it was a shady casino then I would probably think twice before returning the money, but then again karma is a bitch.

He probably talked about his wealth to the wrongs people and they've then set up the kidnapping to relieve him from his funds. The fact that they still killed him after the ransom was supposedly paid is pretty terrible, but also somewhat logical actually.
it is my understanding that he was somewhat known in that part of the world. I read somewhere on the caisno forums that he was often flashing with expensive cars etc. Nothing wrong in doing that, but as you propose it definitely has something to do with the ransom and death.

Re: Sportsbook/Casino Owner "5Dimes Tony" found dead after ransom was paid in BTC
I can just hope that the Costa Rica's police will do the job, and that the kidnappers will be found. But really awful news... A few things confuses me, if family agreed to pay, why was he killed? Did the kidnappers receive the money? I guess they had no intention of letting him go.... perhaps it would be possible to track down the transaction, if there was any transaction done at all.
it is still uncertain if the ransom was actually paid ( different sources claim different amounts ) but not until police confirms more detail we are left in dark.
But if indeed transaction was made in BTC then they can kiss the money goodbye.

He was missing since the 25th of September. Apparently the kidnappers asked for ransom which was supposedly paid by Tony's wife in BTC ( worth around $1m supposedly ) . Still unclear as to how he got killed. More info
