Re: Where is your logic?!

Fiat currency is decreasing in value while Bitcoin is increasing in value.

In other words, Bitcoin is deflationary and fiat is inflationary.

So, the Bitcoin you save today will be worth exponentially more tomorrow, while the money you save today will be worth less tomorrow.

So is your point this will continue until people are forced to spend BTC because fiat currency will have no value?

Bitcoin is only worth exponentially more tomorrow as long as people believe it is. Most currencies are mainly backed by trust, and that is not something that is earned over a market rally. Let's not forget what happened last April.

It's a law enforcement issue, not a currency issue.

Anything that can be done with a suitcase full of cash can be done with bitcoin. Laws already exist to deal with financial crime.

Can you send a suitcase full of cash to the other side of the world in less than a minute? It's a law enforcement issue and a currency issue.

The invention of the wheel made it much faster to cart gold around too.

That's not the point of my post. You're argument is that nothing needs to change, but just as currency has evolved laws will evolve. It's one thing to want everything to stay the same, but it's another thing to be realistic and realize legislation is coming. Too much money is changing hands for the power heads not to want a cut of it. Too much money is also being spent "illegally" for them to turn a blind eye to it. The fact legislation is coming makes it a currency issue.

Somone has to spend btc, otherwise how can the economy progress?

People clearly are spending it. Just some people are choosing to hold onto it and save it as an investment, just like cash or shares or any other investment.

Some people are "spending" it, but I would argue more people are "trading" it. Most of the current spending is mainly on gambling and drugs, so I would agree with the original post that the economy cannot progress if that continues to be the case. Any illegal sites will be more heavily targeted in the future, and you're already starting to see that now as cryptocurrency becomes more popular. BTC won't die off since you'll still have trading, but it will hit a price ceiling at some point where the vast majority of people simply won't be able to afford to buy and trade it anymore. 99% of us are speculators, and that's only fun when we're all making money. We all know a fall in demand will lead to a fall in prices. If there's minimal spending and less trading, that could be a long fall.

I know people are going to argue that it will always be affordable and speculators won't go away since you can buy .01 BTC or .000001 BTC or whatever, but that doesn't seem as appealing as buying 1 or 10 or 100 of something, especially to potential new users/"investors." I think we as a community need to start doing a better job of thinking of ways to maintain and grow BTC long-term instead of focusing solely on short-term profits.

The easiest way for me has always been to convert it to BTC, withdraw to Coinbase, and then cash out.

I had the same thing happen to me when I joined Coinbase a few months ago, but they eventually processed the transactions at my original purchase price after emailing and posting on here. The price had gone up around $30/BTC during that time. If you search the forums, you'll discover this is pretty common, and they normally right their wrongs.

It's odd they didn't process the transactions at the original purchase price for you or even mention that as an option in their email responses. Their customer service has always been shit, but it is a nice service to use once you're at Level 2 and can buy and sell instantly.

Re: Could Free BTC Help Poor?

I believe in the long run the only real way to help the poor is to enable them to help themselves.

This. IMO, the BTC community needs more places like Sean's Outpost, which not only helps poorer people, but also employs them and teaches them skills. I don't think an individual would ever be able to generate enough free BTCs to create long-term change for themselves and their families.

I wonder how big those shot glass game pieces are. They can't be the normal size, right?  Smiley

If normal is 1oz to you then yes they are normal.

I was thinking 1.5 oz. of liquid. I don't think I could do 16 in the time it takes to play a game.

Well, if you win/lose with pieces on the board, do you do all the shots? And after like 10, you would probably be too drunk to figure out chess Cheesy

Ha. I think the loser would do all of the remaining shots. Death Chess.

He's fun to watch but I had to divest because I got tired of the big swings and worry if I was not on when he was playing.  While I believe in math and that Nakowa, if he keeps playing, will lose, it is clear in the short run he wont.

Given how much he has won I've wondered why he hasn't started a giveaway thread or something to really build some good will.  Giving out .01 to 100 posters would be cool or going into the JD chat which is loaded with people begging all the time and giving out 100K satoshi to ten people would really rock the JD world.  But I guess he is not about that.

He gave $7,200 to Sean's Outpost:

If you won that much would you give any away to random people on here?

This is not spreading FUD, I'm just here to tell my sob story - it's been a few months since I joined bitcoin, I earned over 5 bitcoins since then.  I sold 3 BTC, and just lost 2 BTC gambling on just-dice,

https://just-dice.com/roll/145748860

Pretty bummed up about it, because It was a 98% bet, the second one I bet.  I know it was stupid to bet such a high amount with such low payout, and I've learned to never gamble again Sad

Anyways, my short sob story.  I know probably none of you guys care a single bit, but if you have a bit of bitcoin to spare, please donate?
16zh6GmuyGCwizowXB5qhKAkMTAJHqyyiX

The people on JD were pretty nice, so yah.  newbies, if you have a small amount of bitcoin, want to gamble it, I suggest you don't, for obvious stated reasons.

You still earned 3 BTC overall. That's not bad.

FFs Owns turned 4 BTC into over 1,000+

Is that actually true? That's basically turning $500 into over $125,000.

LSU/Georgia will be a good game, but that's a tough pick with the Tigers being on the road. I like the under in that game, which is currently 61.5.

I hope your pick works out for you.

Well didn't do it this time , they are all equally possible to me , but previous bets had reasons under them , some said they were long shots some were more possible , not this time tough , I would suggest betting them individually tough , don't combine them for bigger return.

I would agree with betting them individually. Parlays are difficult enough, but maybe even more difficult in soccer with the low scores and parity.

Good luck on your picks!
