Re: [ANN][TGE] NIMIQ - A BROWSER-BASED BLOCKCHAIN
by
CJ_900
on 11/08/2017, 00:10:59 UTC
Can someone tell me what this project does uniquely that other coins dont already do? Are the developers behind this project this best to work on this project?

Is the only [Suspicious link removed]pletely designed Browser-based to achieve real simplicity in Blockchain Technology. Our Browser-based approach aims to lower barriers of entry for users, developers and merchants.

Users: Browser-based means that it runs completely in your Browser without any installation required (check Betanet). The first time you open a Nimiq Wallet with your browser, it will create and store a wallet securely in your Browser. Yyou can export/import your keys. The only way of erasing them is by removing the offline data of your Browser. It also make possible features like Cashlinks: Transfer Nimiq within a simple URL that you can send in WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, etc. The users who opens the link will be redirected to his very Browser Wallet and NIM will be added to his Balance.

https://nimiq.com/static/images/wallet_ui.gif

Developers: The code for the Nimiq Blockchain is public and completely written in Javascript. This way most developers are empowered to build applications using Nimiq. Nimiq will validate the security of community applications but we encourage community memmbers to contribute. Some examples of community applications: Nimiq Faucet, Nimiq Block Explorer, Nimiq Chrome Extension.

Merchants: We plan to create an entire Ecosystem of applications that will make it easy for any Merchant to accept Nimiq. One of the core applications of the Nimiq Ecosystem is the Peer-To-Peer Exchange which aims to serve as a frictionless platform to easily get in and out of Nimiq. Check our Blog for more.

How secure is Nimiq since it runs on a browser? Online wallets are already known for being un-secure so how will handle security?

Does anyone think the price will dip below $4 after this rise?
Its quite possible but it is also quite difficult to predict as it is still in a state of price discovery and with daily announcements alongside activities lined up it should stay around 5+ for a while. Should there be a major release we might not see $4 again! So maybe yes in the short term!
keeping an eye on this one...

It's like the person above posted! MSP is interesting in the long term because we are nearing the end of the centralized exchanges! And more and more government entities will try to participate in cryptocurrencies, anyway, at that moment is to buy and hold! Cheesy

Mothership is a centralized exchange

Hi Everyone

I aim interested in buying some NVST on Counterparty DEX, but on the listing the marketcap and supply is double than what is listed on coinmarketcap.com

Counterparty DEX stats:
Marketcap: 16m
Total Supply: 30m

Coinmarketcap stats:
Marketcap: 8m
Supply: 15m

Does anyone know the reason for this?

They created 30 million NVST by mistake and sent 15 million to a burn address so there is effectively 15 million in circulation, although Counterparty Dex still thinks the whole 30 million is circulating.

Thanks

Here's a steemit article I wrote on how the basic attention token could be used when fully implemented and how paying users to watch adverts can actually work: https://steemit.com/crypto/@cj900/basic-attention-token-bat-a-brave-new-world-for-advertising

This one's for the long term imho

I am also concerned that the ICO gathered too much funds , so this could spoil the project. Now they might have too much cash on their disposal, not knowing what to do with it. Being already overbooked, my lead to less interest later, hence less price increase and less ROI for us. OFC it could go other ways as well. Does anybody have experience with the app ? please share photos, experiences etc after using the alpha version !!

cheers

I downloaded the APK a user posted on this forum and used an Android simulator to test out the app, I can post some screenshots and maybe a video, for anyone who got access to the Android App is there any NDA or agreement forbidding sharing information about the beta app?

can someone tell me that 8000 satoshi means? is it 8 cents?

One satoshi is a division of Bitcoin (0.1, 0.001 etc.) just like with dollars you have cents and with pounds you have pence, with Bitcoin you have Satoshi.

Didn't get in on the ico because my tx didn't go through.
I see this happened to a lot of people.
However, 1 day later, MEW shows the tx as completed, ETH went to status ico address.

WTF?
Did this happen to other people, too?

I tried and failed many times to get my transaction through but yesterday I checked etherscan and the transaction finally got through (one day after trying), if you see the transaction on etherscan and you use MEW you can check if you have received any SNT by adding it as a custom token:

--->Add custom token
address: 0x744d70FDBE2Ba4CF95131626614a1763DF805B9E
Token: SNT
Decimals: 18

Then you will see your SNT tokens

Whenever I try to run the Qt wallet I get the error "error loading block database", is there anyway to fix this? I download the latest version and that hasn't helped.

Backup your wallet.dat and delete everything in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\ESP\, download bootstrap (https://mega.nz/#!hiBVFASC!da642SlpV33stx41ZrfLYJmlSqwavtZ4mQcAL6zl2Rc), extract it and copy it to C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\ESP\ and don't forget copy your wallet.dat back and run your qt wallet Wink

I followed you instructions and the wallet is working now thanks, just waiting for it to sync, I just have 3 quick questions:

1. What is the espers full client for?

2. I deleted the original wallet.dat file but there was no coins inside (they're on an exchange) is that okay?

3. I downloaded and extracted the bootstrap to the correct location but the wallet is still taking very long to sync, is that because this is the first time syncing the wallet?

Thanks again for your help

Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources]
by

I am confused, the paper wallet generator here: http://vergecurrency.com/paper-wallet/index.html produces addresses that start with 1, but all verge block explorers use addresses that start with D. I assume th block explorer are correct... i there a correct paper wallet generator in existence?

you need to select verge in the menu, not bitcoin lol
If I sent money to my paper wallet how can I check the balance? I have an empty paper wallet and when I type the address on prohashing.com/explorer/Verge/ it says "Block height not found", is that because the wallet is empty? If I sent a small amount to the paper wallet would I be able to see the transaction?

yeah you aren't going to see anything there until you send coins to it, because it's never been used. paper wallets are generated offline, on your own computer, unless you use the live demo one on our website.

Thanks, I just sent a test amount to my paper wallet but the website to check the balance website is down (prohashing.com/explorer/Verge/) I tried searching my address in yiimp.ccminer.org/explorer/XVG but nothing shows up when I use the search feature in the explore section, I even tried the search on the wallet section and still nothing.

Ok, ive said it quite a few times already but here it is once more =p

there will be a whole new UI released for the wallet this weekend that will make it a lot easier to use. so be patient on that, we are working on it. it will also make it possible for us to update OSX agian.

CoinExchange is under maintenance because they are currently upgrading their wallet to v0.2.5.0 so there is no need to worry about that.

and yes, mac is the operating system that is having most of the problems right now. we know. but right now there is no way to update OSX (dev environment got corrupted and appple is doing everything it can to prevent us from fixing it) so that makes it really hard to fix the wallets for them. the new wallet UI this weekend will fix a lot of the issues people are having

I am normally more than happy to help people fix their issues. but most of the issues will be fixable from a button click or two once the new UI is finished. so im just gunna have to ask everyone to sit tight on that for a little bit

-Griffith

That's fantastic news --- thank you for all of the hard work and dedication.  Looking forward to seeing the upcoming new UI

it is being designed so that if you need help, you click on the help tab. and find your problem. and it has a button to fix it

Hi Griffith, since you are the developer do you mind telling me what makes this coin unique? Or what you plan to add to this coin to make it more competitive? I know file storage and messaging are planned but there are other coins that do this, just so you know I am not trolling I am genuinely curious.

Being cheaply priced won't help the coin long term, apart from the low price I haven't seen anything about this coin that would make it a worthy long term investment. I've seen other cheap coins that at least had something that made them stand out but with ECC I see nothing special so far.

Says the guy with 3 posts who registered on June 8   Grin Grin Grin

Why don't you browse this thread and find out why it has such strong interest & potential?

Yet you have absolutely nothing to counter his point.

Everybody comes here and makes the question: what's good about this coin.

Nobody has a single fuckin answer, not one, just "great developer".

What did the developer do?

Write one post in very poor english where he doesn't even specify where's ECC heading.

Do you even guys understand how comparable services work? Like Sia?

The fact that this coint is worth 1-100-1000-1000000 satoshis is close to meaningless to anybody apart the investor.

The real case use is a renter that says "what is the best storage I can use, how much I'm gonna pay for the bandwidth, how much I'm gonna pay for the storage, ecc, ecc"?

If you go on siahub:

http://siahub.info/

You can see the prices for hosting files on a much more mature network and a much more developed coin.

The price of sia is absolutely meaningless as well to anybody by the investors.

It's the hosts that set the prices, collateral and bandwidth. Sia can double the price, it doesn't matter, hosts will compete by lowering the fees.

You guys here provide no information, no value to the discussion, you have absolutely no argument to explain why this coin's good at all.

99 % you bought at the peak and now are desperately trying to motivate people to bail you out.

Meanwhile there's absolutely no discussion on the technology that ECC provides or how it distinguishes from other similar coins like storj or sia.

Great developer? Who is he? Name? What are his credentials. More serious coins have entire development teams, roadmaps, here? I can see nothing. There is barely a functioning wallet.

Keep begging everywhere (where you the guy on the trollbox slack trying to pump ecc?) so people buy it.

Come at me next month and say that ECC doubled it's value, you'll still miss all of my previous points. Wish you at least to make some money with it. Bye.

Thank you, I asked a simple question and the calvary came out in full force and still up to now no one has an answer.

All coins are the same, just need to send data secure from point a to point b, all the flowers and whistles are just a dress up, but as somebody said,I do not see the point of your comments, if you do not like to risk it to a new venture, well, cowards have not made this world move so far, so if you do not like this project and you do not support, stop trolling, or perhaps are you the fail developer of another project that puke envy over others possible success?
You can believe whatever you want mate, lol "failed developer". If I want to know the purpose behind a coin I will ask questions and I do not care what anyone thinks.

What does this coin do that separates it from others? Whats the purpose and potential real life application of this coin or its related services?

Please take a look into the "Focus and more information" part of the http://ufocoin.it main page.

Regards

From what I saw it looks like the coin was created to raise money, the site mentions that the coin "is worth mining and investing" and apart from the algorithm being more profitable to miners I didn't see anything that shows that this coin has any real potential value or use.

The site mentioned that the developers set up the coin to help with renewable energy, security, nano-tech and long life research, how do the developers plan to go ahead with this and is there a roadmap we can view?
