First markets for CryptoFlix Indentified

We are pleased to announce that we have decided upon the location of our first regional HQ as well as the first 12 markets to approach.

We have chosen Singapore as our first regional HQ for CryptoFlix and we are currently in talks with local authorities to secure a soft landing.

We have also chosen 12 markets in Asia, which will be the primary markets for CryptoFlix. These markets have some common denominators:

-   Local films are in high demand
-   There is a need for a trustworthy platform for foreign films
-   There is a large population of un- or underbanked
-   There is a high percentage of internet subscriptions and smart devices per capita

We especially see a huge potential in India and we will introduce CryptoFlix in India as the first or one of the first markets.

Local content

As local content has such a strong presence in the markets we have chosen, we are already in talks with local paid content providers and we already have confirmed interest in some markets including Indonesia (Thirteen Entertainment).


How will CryptoFlix reach the un- or underbanked?


There are other ICO's claiming to aim for the unbanked population of the world as customers and users. CryptoFlix are among the first to actually present a solution for getting the tokens out to the users in the underdeveloped countries.

CryptoFlix has entered into a global strategic supply partnership with DZ Cards, a giftcard supplier based in Thailand. The giftcards, which will be denominated in local currency will be sold via retail outlets throughout the markets and the balance of the giftcard, once uploaded on the user account, will be exchanged into FLIX tokens before payment on the CryptoFlix Platform.

We are also working on local distribution partnerships as well as a payment by smartphone plugin.

Once again thanks for your continued support. I have been following your discussions with great interest.

A few remarks:

1. The team is still the same as it was- We have added a few new faces since we started, but the core team is the same and will remain this way.

2. About a second token - We are only doing ONE public token - the FLIX token, which will be used as payment on the CryptoFlix Platform and which can also be used to invest in films on the CryptoFlix Film Market Place.

The way that we see the investment on the Film Market Place, is that the FLIX tokens are vested as a security for the investment and we will then issue an INTERNAL USD pegged token for each project. This is because filmmakers need FIAT to pay for the production and they will likely not take on a further risk of having to pay the term sheet yield in FLIX because of the volatility.

So when the investment recoups the income, the FLIX tokens will be released gradually and at the end there will be a USD pegged yield as projected in the term sheet. Meanwhile the FLIX token holder keeps all his FLIX tokens which will be released 100% when the investment is recouped.

Now that we are 12 days into Q2 I thought it was about time that I provide an update on where we are with our development and roadmap targets.

Since we began the journey towards the ICO we have naturally been very busy. Busy getting the right team together, something which we are still working on. But mostly busy fine tuning the basic concept of the platform and how to deliver the right tokenomics for the contributors and for the content owners and users.

Specifically, we are dealing with bringing a whole new crowd of users, but also content suppliers onto the block chain. This is a major change for many and therefore we are developing bridges between the FIAT world and the CryptoFlix Platform. We will keep communicating the developments to you as they are done. I am pretty sure that you will like what you see.

Here is an update on where we are with our roadmap targets for Q2, 2018:

1.   Content sourcing:

If you read my latest blog post, you know, that we are already working to get content on the CryptoFlix Platform. The content comes in two forms - free educational content and paid content in the form of Movies and TV.

For the free content we have already announced the first University Partnership with The University of Morelia, Mexico. More partnerships are being negotiated.

For the paid content we are already in contact with many content owners in US as well as around the world. So far, the interest for the CryptoFlix Platform has been very good and there are many content owners who have contacted us to get on the platform - amongst these are distributors in our core markets - the underdeveloped countries in Asia and we have confirmed interest in getting large libraries on the platform when we roll it out.

And local content is very important for us - because in the markets we will operate in, the domestic films have a large share of the box office.

Naturally, with 5 million+ titles available throughout the world, we will keep chasing content.

2.   Regional Partnership search

The regional partnerships are very central to our operations. We have already identified the location for our first regional HQ and we have begun talks with the authorities there. We still will need film labs as well as a network of local representatives.

3.   Further Platform Development

The test platform, which is available on our website www.cryptoflix.io, is being updated these days so that it will be possible to access the free content, which has been made available from the University of Morelia through our partnership.
We are working on a number of things on the platform, such as:

-   Wallet integration
-   Payment systems
-   The YourDef software

The central element in the delivery of content, which is the YourDef technology will not be available until the official launch of the platform, but the free content trial mode will provide an insight into the future user experience.

4.   Development Anti-Piracy Tech

The basic idea for the Anti-Piracy Tech was already developed before the announcement of the ICO. We will fine tune the idea and software after the ICO.

5.   Payment solution partnership search

Now payment solutions is something that I have personally spent a lot of time on, because I truthfully think that when we are going to bring hopefully millions of new users into the block chain world, then it needs to be accessible.

We are in discussions with a number of possible partners to fulfil our goals for the payment flows on the platform - from getting access to the FLIX tokens to paying content owners.

We will shortly be announcing our payment solution as a part of the tokenomics of CryptoFlix so look out for that.

6.   Legal Market Due Dilligence

We have identified the first 5-10 markets which we will enter with the platform and we are assembling a database of legal information to assist with the easy roll out of the platform. This includes information about content restrictions, minimum requirements, payment and tax compliance etc.

Just a quick comment about Netflix and subscription models:

We do not consider Netflix to be a competitor. This is because Netflix is a subscription based service - like pay tv, but without a fixed schedule for when you can see the content on there. Netflix primarily license content for a one-off payment to the content owner and they also produce their own content. With a subscription you can watch the content as many times as you want.

For content owners, Netflix is one of the last windows of film distribution that you have - because as long as you are one Netflix - no one who is on Netflix will pay to watch your film or TV show on a pay per view basis. Netflix are very good at what they do and I have the deepest respect for them.

However it is important to say, that the films and TV shows that are on Netflix are not new - except for their own productions. So the new films on iTunes for instance will not be available on Netflix until many months after.

And the new films and TV shows are the ones we are going for for CryptoFlix. Therefore we will not have Netflix as a competitor because our content will be different from theirs.

In short - CryptoFlix will not be a subscription based streaming platform.

Finally a few more replies to the wonderful debate:

1) There will not be advertising on CryptoFlix
2) We will start the platform in under developed countries - and very likely in Asia first
3) The price will be determined by the streaming quality chosen by the users - and the content owners will have more control over the pricing. So we are expecting to be competitive - otherwise how can we expect to even have a market let alone to compete with piracy.

I am glad the the discussions here are continuing. I really appreciate your interest and support.

Here is some basic information about the paid Movie streaming platform - I am sorry if I am repeating some earlier stated facts, but since it is difficult to reach for previous replies I have chosen to write these again:

1. CryptoFlix will not be a subscription model like Netflix. We want to showcase new movies and TV as well, which is not possible on the subscription model.

2. There will not be advertising on CryptoFlix.

3. The pricing on the CryptoFlix platform will be much more flexible than that of for instance iTunes. We will allow the content owners to have bigger influences over the prices and the data size matters as well. There will likely be regional pricing differences.

4. Part of the development work we have to achieve before launch is the technology to analyze the device and internet speed before suggesting which definition to stream - we call this YourDef.

We have experimented with compressing the file size and quality while still ensuring a good quality viewing experience and we are convinced that we can deliver as promised even at low internet speeds.

5. The free content will be sourced from a number of partnerships which are being negotiated. These include state owned TV stations around the world and learning institutions. We will also establish a Charitable Trust where it is possible to donate content as well as money to support the educational cause of CryptoFlix.

6. Regarding the working demo of the platform prior to the ICO, please do not expect this. The design of the current platform sample on our webpage is a good representation of how it will look for users with the convenience and easy menus etc., but before we have finalized the development the YourDef technology we will not have a full working demo ready.

Just a quick reply from here regarding the Film Market Place.

We will present quality projects from experienced film makers. We will NOT present projects from filmmakers who could not get their films financed in by ordinary methods so the Film Market Place will not be a place to go to when there is no other way. The last 15-20% of the financing for most films made today is very difficult to get and often expensive GAP financing is used. So there is a real place in the market for this type of financing.

So yes the filmmakers will be known - no there will be no scam projects - and yes Token holders can freely decide which project they like and want to invest in. We will try to present as broad a range of projects as possible.

Regarding the CRYPTOFLIX Film Market, where FLIX Token owners can invest in films and own a little piece of Hollywood, I want to make it absolutely clear, that the movies we want to present to the possible investors, should have a potential to be present in many more windows of exhibition than VOD and the CRYPTOFLIX Streaming Platform. This is one of the key differences between our model and that of most other Blockchain based funding platforms for film.

To optimize the potential and income waterfall for a film, all windows of exhibition need to be pursued - these windows are:

1) Festivals (if applicable for the genre/type)
2) Theatrical (Cinemas) - this is still the best option for profits
3) DVD/Blu Ray - Still works, but not as it used to - by far
4) VOD - like CRYPTOFLIX
5) Pay TV/NetFlix
6) Free TV
7) Others

If a filmmaker was to exhibit a movie "only" on a lesser known blockchain based streaming platform, then there will be little or no profits to share with investors and likely break even is far far away.

We want the FLIX Token holders to be able to invest in quality Movies made by experienced filmmakers with the intent of taking it all the way - to ensure a maximum earning potential.

When the time comes for the movies to be in the VOD window - then they will be on CRYPTOFLIX.

Again thanks for the interest, questions and discussions. We are happy that you are all so passionate about movies as well as CRYPTOFLIX.

Just a few things from me today as a reply to the recent discussions:

1) We do intend for CRYPTOFLIX to be a worldwide service, however the intention is to start in the underdeveloped, underbanked world, namely Asia, South America and Africa and expand from there. If you read the White Paper there is an analysis of both the competition and the markets and for paid content our first markets will be the unbanked population of the world who today have little or no other option than to watch pirated movies.

But because of the much more flexible pricing structure, we expect than many content owners would want to be on CRYPTOFLIX for Europe and US as well. Believe me, if we see that there is an opportunity to grow into new markets, we will act on it.

The free educational content will be out worldwide from day one.

2) Regarding languages and subtitles, this is really a choice for the content owner. Obviously local and regional films will already be versioned for the near markets, but for international films, usually there will be subtitled versions and if available also dubbed versions etc. From a content owner perspective it is important to always evaluate if the cost of dubbing a film will come back as income from said market. A good dub is costly and therefore many international films will only have subtitles. This is why our strategy is to start with markets, where there is a high level of English, French or Spanish language speakers to provide as wide a selection of films and TV from the beginning.

3) I have really enjoyed your ideas and suggestions for what movies you would like to see produced. Filmmaking is an art form that unfortunately is influenced heavily by contracts and rights etc. And it takes a long time and a lot of money to get from idea to seeing the film on the big screen. I know that you are wondering what kind of films you are going to be able to invest in with the FLIX Tokens. We will seek to provide a range of film and TV projects of different genres and budgets and from different parts of the world - all with one thing in common - they are good projects with quality people behind them.

Before we launch the platform we need to finalize the development of the "YourDef" interface between the user and the platform. Obviously we would like to roll out the platform as soon as possible, but for CRYPTOFLIX to be a successful venture we need to be able to present the right solution for the users, while also carefully considering the very different markets around the under developed world.

As for the Film Market Place - I do not see why we could not offer investment into big budget movies. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, most filmmakers work hard to get the last 15-20% of financing and in the Film Market Place we could round up many investors to go into the same project to attract these big projects as well as other quality projects.

Hey everyone - thank you for your continued interest and questions.

Just wanted to clarify the difference between the Netflix Model and the CRYPTOFLIX Model.

Netflix is mainly comparable to a Pay TV channel, except they do not have a fixed schedule. They pay license fees for the period where the content is on their platform up front and users can watch the movies as many times as they want, when they want.

In the film industry windows, Netflix is among the last stops in the income waterfall before free TV, but after VOD and DVD/BluRay. So Netflix will not have brand new movies, other than their own, because the content owners want income from the other windows first.

Also Netflix are producing their own content, which I believe they have re-allocated as many funds to as for licensing in 2018 so likely expect more of their own content going forward and less third party content.

The CRYPTOFLIX Model is more comparable to that of iTunes, which is a revenue sharing model where the content owners put their content on the platform against a share of the revenue and at no cost other than storage and administration to the platform.

CRYPTOFLIX will be different than the existing platforms in that it will be possible to use the platform without an Apple device and without a credit card (by using FLIX Tokens) and we will have more flexibility for the content owners in that the minimum quality requirements for entry onto the platform will be lower than the minimum standards for iTunes etc. and also our pricing structure will be more flexible. Also we can use smart contracts to share the revenue instantly with the content owners - in the current platforms this can take months or even years.
