Yes you can, I have my Single and Jalapeno mining ZET currently.
I use BFGMiner, btw.

This is the argument I gave to this fool who sounded just like Krugman and Dimon last night. Shut him up instantly, had to share.

When you pay with credit card, the vendor "pulls" money from your account using the credentials you supply. You're trusting that vendor pulls the correct amount and securely hides your cc #, exp. date, CVS code, billing address from the hackers of the world.
When you pay with bitcoin, you "push" the money to the vendor. No fraud or subsequent transactions are possible because you're not giving the vendor (or anybody) the "keys" to your account.
Once all the virtual currency regulatory issues are resolved, here's how future internet transactions will work...
You fill your shopping cart, then at checkout an address (code) is displayed designating where to send the payment. You go to your personal checking account page, paste/enter the code and click the "Make Payment to Address" button. A few minutes later, you get receipt from vendor.

Keepass, the only password manager I trust. Lastpass and the like just give my a bad vibe, gotta be online to use them.

Thanks Kano. Thought it might be something like that. There's options to disable GPU mining, which made me think it would have cpu only capabilities.

I'm unable to get cgminer working on a debian cpu only system. When I use the readme file's recommended configure line:
CFLAGS="-O2 -Wall -march=native" ./configure --enable-scrypt
I get this in the summary when the configure script completes:
And it just stops. If I make install anyway, it doesn't want to work. Thanks in advance for any help!

I haven't the math to prove it, but it seems like there's always a bounce before the weekend then falling back to resistance levels on Sunday night. Then only the news influences the Charts. Last week's news...all the PayPal info, which caused the rise to 160.
If I could import the gox/btc-e data into TradeStation or the like, I could give more than just gut feelings. But for now, the guts all I got, which ain't enough for me to commit, therefore, I just steady long, steady long.

Thanks! Just created my new feathercoin wallet. Didn't want to have to deal with yet another icon in my Windows system tray, plus, feathercoin.com seems to not be working atm, so I couldn't get the qt client anyway. Started mining FTC today when I saw BTC-e put them up.

Chase, BoA, Capital One.... I say avoid them all. I've had accounts with all three, and bad experience with each. Now I only use local credit unions. And an Amex card.

I propose a DNA-coin for the future generations that is more fair than the current model which rewards early miners and early adopters.
Each human gets 1000 coins from his/her blood (DNA) on birth, this will be the most equal monetary system ever created.
Verification mechanisms needs to be invented to prevent fake DNAs to issue coins.
This solution will ensure a very low inflation since the money supply only increases with the birth of each human.
The ratio of Money Supply per Capita will increase at the same rate as the population growth rate. Higher inflation is only possible if the world population decreases.

I had this idea too (sort of) in the thread "Human Mined Alt Coin" that I started last week (which thankfully has finally died, hence no link). Using captcha system to verify humanity/existence.
My thinking was that open-source hardware component to verify identities would be impossible to make hack-proof, but if it can be done, I'd be all over it. I just can't see a DNA/fingerprint/iris scan device be both cost effective and plausible. But I ain't too smart.

Wow, running a custom server farm sounds a lot like running a hydroponic farm, lol! (Not that I'd know anything about that)
We mostly do investments, 12% return and no worries about running anything as we handle it all. We also pay bonus payouts based on the market. Handling other people's rigs are more of a headache to keep track of them, separate duties as requested, etc.. Easier to keep everything as one and just do payouts.

This is why ASICS are good for coins. It prevents botnets. The arguement about scrypt and ASIC resistant (not proof) coins like litecoin is that it allows botnet miners to exist. You can't botnet mine bitcoin, but as is easy to see- you can botnet mine the hell out of Litecoin or other scrypt coins.
It's one thing if a high hash power miner invests a good deal of money into buying asics or a GPU farm, then they make this amount of coin legitimately, but by using a botnet you destroy the economics of the coin. Its essentially printing free money by stealing others CPU and Electricity.

Amazon does offer a GPU instance, not free by any means. I did some rough calculations awhile back, LTCwould need to be trading around $25 to show a profit, and BTC would need to be around $500. (this was about a year ago, I'm sure things have changed since)
I use the AWS EC2 platform for all my clients' websites, and yes, it is free for super low traffic/low power instances. I tell new clients to create their own account, then give me access via the IAM service. Works very nicely, and I highly recommend it.
