Be sure any VPN you use does not keep ANY records of a users usage.

This is pointless as their vpn will most definitely keep records on everyone to be pulled out and viewed at any time they like.

Well thank you all for you input, I obviously knew it was suspish so would never click it, but perhaps posting it here will raise it to the attention of any unsuspecting person who might get one and click it. and now know better.

I'm sure everyone here is pretty up on security but It was somewhat convincing and could be very harmful.

but it looked legit as it had the address noreply@bitcointalk.org

FYI, unless the (alleged) sender's domain has got SPF records and your mail server implements it, anyone can just change his 'From:' address to whatever he wants just by going to 'Settings...' in the mail client.

Actually bitcointalk.org *does* have an SPF record protecting it with a strict (-all) policy: according to standards, the phishing message should have been rejected, but your mail server probably doesn't enforce the requested policy. Funny thing is that a domain such as 'whitehouse.gov' uses a relaxed policy (~all), so phishing e-mails from 'whitehouse.gov' would en up in your spam folder at best Wink

Damn them all to hell!!  Grin oh well no harm done on this occasion, I'll probably get my dinner invitation to the whitehouse a bit later on  Tongue

Dear Users,

This mail was sent because you need install New Update for your browsers (Mozilla Firefox ,Internet Explorer,Chrome,...) for News updates on [Suspicious link removed] set Java Software for your Browsers click the following link:
https://www.bitcointalk.org ( update ) taken out

Regards,
The Bitcoin Forum Team.

I dont receive it, as I remember correctly that this forum will never send an email regarding the upgrade of your browser , beware of malware, it could be an attempt to steal your account, best thing to do is to hide your email address from your profile

Yeah I thought it was suspect, Luckily I didn't click on anything but it looked legit as it had the address noreply@bitcointalk.org

I'm glad it's a scam, until we develop past the point of strapping people to rockets to get into orbit...we shouldn't think about going to other planets.

I say that because, when you think the chinese invented solid rocket propulsion for fireworks hundreds of years ago and that's what NASA (basically premise of solid rocket tech) and all other agenices uses for space orbit, we look ridiculous in space.  I am dissapoint.

Re: A Blockchain Voting System
by

Why couldn't it be as simple as having the system like it is now....you take your polling card on voting day, with your details. You turn up to vote and are presented with an electronic vote screen but this time instead of proprietary software you cannot trust in a voting sense, it is run by an open public ledger registering peoples votes?

A Million Bitcoin Apps
by
CaptainHerpDerp

From the Bitcoin 101 series found here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nOfHpOFhN8

Got me thinking..

Is there a site listing projects or apps in the making (other than wallets, and bitcoin use as money etc)  I am fascinated by alternate uses of blockchain tech other than Bitcoin as money/exchange. I checked out another cool site which I think in that video which is proof of existence

http://www.proofofexistence.com/

Colored coins is awesome too.

Anyone got anymore sites along those lines they can share. Stuff built on top of the blockchain not necessarily just for Bitcoin.

Also what are the best uses for altcoins again other than just a bitcoin rip off, what are your favourites and why?

I think allowing things like that (ref links) from the offset as a "selling point" is not great. People want quality content rich communites...not spam

Not saying that's what it is, but you will find it hard to grab members....more importantly, educated, learned members offering good quality interesting posts. Conversely you may invite all manner of spam which just harms any site rep.

If you don't let the NSA in then they will find a way of shutting you down. ( Not explicitly the NSA but the umbrella conspiracy of all agencies ) Fuck em.

PLus they obviously want to ruin Kim anyway they can...I just hope he wins out in the end.

I'm glad there is encryption they cannot beat easily. Mega's and more importantly bitcoin.
