Re: HashFlare appears to be a Scam

All things fair, I feel the need the post an update.

I was finally able to withdraw my bitcoins!

I went through the path of changing e-mail addresses and settings and lots of challenges, but finally step by step I made small progresses.
Not sure whether this was because of changed programming or a change of house rules, but slowly the process started to work as described.
While I am 100% sure my former e-mail address, BTC address etc where correct, by changing all these I was able to retrieve everything.

This makes the title of this thread a bit unfair, though the effort needed to retrieve a fairly small amount of money makes me decide the whole thing is still a bit tricky, if not, it may show some aspects of a little scam.

For me, I like to finish this thread with a kind of "creed of the day" : NEVER GIVE UP !

If you re-enter the wallet address, withdrawal becomes disabled for 14 days, so you don't want to change that unless you need to.

If you are unable to modify the wallet entry, you should try different browsers which have no addons.

Send a support ticket in, because it's a long wait to get a response. If you are not getting emails from alerts@hashflare.io, change your email provider. They are using mandrillapp.com to send emails which might get blocked as spam or you might end up on a rejection list if your address causes an email bounce.

Guys, this really reads as an insult.

Do you really think that, before posting this serious accusation to HashFlare, I haven't tried all possible possibilities ?

I tried different browsers, different OS's, different locations and I do receive all their (narrow first line level) helpdesk mails. I tried several BTC addresses with all possible forks just to be sure. I do know about the 14 days rule (duh; it's on their site and I went through all FAQ, forums and comments)
IT IS NOT WORKING !
BTW: I made withdrawals before.

I'm making this very clear to all: you don't HAVE to believe me and I'm perfectly ok with all of you losing all your investments by not reading this or willing to understand.

I only want to warn you all that it IS a scam and after a while you will not be able to retrieve your investments. Read comments that are not contaminated by people connected through the referral program.

All the best.

Read this topic and came to the same conclusion:

Only people involved in the referral program have recent good news.

Basically I did the same experiment before and I was able to retrieve some investments too.

As I bought into BTC before the hype it is of no interest to me to loose the investments. They are really small if you refer to the value of  0.5 BTC some years ago, combined with the initial retrieve possibility. (clever me  Wink )

However, recently I am not able to re-enter my wallet address in the browser, and no confirmation mails are sent by HashFlare.
Only the delete address function was possible.
My wallet address was properly checked, and all possible hard and softfork possibilities were checked too, so pretty convinced it is not my error. They have me by the B@77$#.....

They do not reply and prove that mails indeed leave their server, and for the worse, helpdesk mails that come from the same domain are indeed received by me, so I am pretty sure about e-mail settings and spam filtering not being the trouble.

Thanks for the reply, spread the message if you think it can protect others.....
Go ahead with hashflare and see it as a gamble, it is great fun and you eventually loose all your money. Just, DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE SAVINGS IN IT ! Neither use money you really need.

Just wanted to include this for people that are looking at this thread in order to make a decision about investing with Hashflare or not.

There are a huge amount of good news stories about Hashflare as well. (especially Youtube)
One could easily be persuaded into thinking this entry is on the negative side, and things are not that bad after all.

Whatever your decision is, keep in mind that there is a referral program!
People that are knee-deep into this shit will NEVER admit that they are thinking to make profit by luring others.
Go look for positive remarks THAT ARE RECENT and NOT CONNECTED to the referral program.
Things will become more clear.
Choose, but choose wisely.....

all the best, don't get ripped!

Any news yet?

I personally think SH*# has hit the fan and Hashflare has started its end process.
#Ponzi scheme.
See my other topic too.

Feel sorry for those who lost a large amount.

Sorry for your supposed loss.

Was so clever to have withdrawn partly earlier, when it was still possible. However the profit is gone and there's a little loss, true.

Mainly posting this article for community warning.

Should I change the title ?

All the answers point to one conclusion:
Hashflare turns out to be a Ponzi scheme evolving rapidly to it's end.

Not one single answer gives them credit.

No single answer stating withdrawals could be made recently.

They are constantly claiming the problems are caused by blockchain, but other payments work just fine or with some minor delays. Been doing a lot of transactions lately and yes, I experienced some delays, but not even near the order as HashFlare claims. Unless they are making transfers without fee while charging customers. Most probably they are in their final stage which means: no returns anymore.

I would strongly suggest not to invest in this company !

Thanks for al the very useful answers.

I was able to change my BTC address before, but it just not works anymore.
My mail server logs do not show any attempt to receive a mail from them except from the support team.
It is 100% sure no problem with spamfiltering or mailsettings.

It seems confirmed that the problem has to do with scam, not spam.

The advice to stay away from HashFlare seems to be the best after all.

The only good news is that the (luckily) small amount of money I lost with them was not needed.

So my advice to all :
HashFlare is a proven SCAM ! Stay away from it.

HashFlare appears to be a Scam
by
CarlK
on 25/12/2017, 21:09:04 UTC
Hi,

Just wanted you guys to share my thoughts while requesting your experiences and opinions with HashFlare.

For starters, I invested a rather small amount in February 2016.
Initially I tried to reinvest and withdraw some BTC, all successful, so it looked very reliable and hence I continued and invested some more.
However, month after month the gains went down much faster than predicted, and it soon became clear that keeping bitcoin in a wallet would be a better plan over risking it on Hashflare.
However, as bitcoin was on a very promising slope up this did not bother to me. Even loosing some is not a big deal.

What became a bigger deal is that Hashflare does not enable me to change a BTC wallet address!
I was able to remove the old address (which I used with armory) but entering a new address in my account settings failed time after time.
Support states that I should get a mail confirming my profile change, but my (personal) mail server logs make perfectly clear that none such mail was ever sent.
I DO receive their support mails (from the same domain) stating that a mail was sent, but they can not provide log file data about settings mails that are sent.

In short, on top of the payment problems they share on their site, several other barriers are put up as to NOT ALLOW you to retrieve your investments.
It has been said before that this mining company could be a Ponzi scheme.
My experiences might prove this right.

Please share your thoughts on this.
This topic might be wrongly placed in Service announcements, but mainly this is about the Hashflare service and the way support is handled by them.

Regards,
Carl

So,
Armory finished reloading and reorganising everything.

Still no transactions for the wallets and thus no balances either.

after all I did not lost a fortune, hardly half a bitcoin or so. Building an up to date system only to recuperate my wallets will cost me considerably more.

I very much doubt the introduction of bitcoin into 3rd world countries: even though my system is like 2 years old and quit lightweight performancewise it will still outperform compared to 10+ years old hardware with dial-up alike speed restrictions as most really poor people have to rely on.

Best idea is to quit trying I guess ?

Thanks for all the efforts.

still working on the combined 2+3 option and rebuilding the databases again.
My hardware is only 1 year old, but I know it's architecture to be "ancient".
Will decide to build a dedicated BTC stack upon the outcome of several things.

I'll get back when I made some progress.

Meanwhile thanks for your insights.

Ok, thanks all for your patience.
I somehow understand that my system is not the most powerful in the world, but hey... It is taking some time now, don't you think so?

You are going to have to mix option 2 & 3

Just a question : does armoryDB allows the use of 2 options at a time ?
ie : --ram-usage=1   and --db-type=DB_BARE
What would be the correct format ? just a space between both options or something mixed like --ram-usage=1; db-type=DB_BARE ?

Is there any option to restore my BitCoins to another wallet once I have the keylists ?

What about the use of the bitcoin core wallet in combination with paper wallets to store BTC?
Basically I just want to have some control on my BTC mining revenue.
If I send this to a paper wallet with no other step in between I have no chance to check if there's something wrong while transferring

Thanks for your advice.

joy, restarting armory will take another 2 days....

My paper backup only mentions a "root key", this is not the same as a private key.
So I will have to use armory offline to restore the private keys if possible?

Is my balance stored as only 1 private key per wallet or will there be several ?

OK,

So I choose option 1 and let it complete the TX hash scan.
I waited, waited and then waited some more, and yes!, it finally came through!

It displays 'connected' and everything you wish for,
however there is still "a little something" wrong:

All balances on all wallets are empty and there is no sign of transactions, while I am very sure that I made transactions and had positive balances before.

I'm back to loosing all trust in Armory and have the feeling that I should accept that everything's lost in cyberspace thanks to "the most secure platform".--- NOOOOOT !!!!
I'm very glad that I only made some deposites that I had spare, for testing purposes and that my other money is still in a regular bank.

I made paper backups and my best guess now is to see how I can get access to my BTC without using Armory itself.

Or is there a second opinion to this ?

Should it continue or is something wrong ?

Now back to QT displaying "Parsing Tx Hashes"
suppose this will take another couple of hours ?

By following the instructions for superbit, armorydb is running with the  --ram-usage=1 parameter.

how do I get rid of the 0.93 db ?

please follow this link for the logfile:

https://we.tl/yHgEz1goaU

I followed the instructions on the topic of superbit (Armory Stuck after Factory Reset) , so I started armorydb manually and armoryQT after.
the logfile was generated upon termination of the block file parsing.
Right now armory DB is still organising the blockchain.
