Re: Are we not abusing decentralization?
by
Carlsen
on 21/04/2019, 17:03:41 UTC
Decentralisation is the point that makes bitcoin safe. It prevents that the blockchain is altered. So exactly this point prevents abuse.
Decentralisation has nothing to do with anonimity. Anonimity is based on the fact that there is no connection between an address and its owner.

Everybody who is in the crypto business is doing so on his own free will, nobody is forced into it.
If somebody loses money here, that is the risk he was taking when he entered this world.

But to be fair, I think that regulations are needed everywhere. On the streets just as here in the crypto world.

Re: Yobit and campaign manager discussion
by

The Yobit campaign needs a manager!
Reopening the campaign only with lower rates would mean that in the end everything will turn out to be the same as we have seen before.

I have been a member in this campaign since I started here on this forum, and it did not go well on multiple sides.
The number of one unconstructive one liners was really enormous!
Written posts were not counted because we had flaws in the bot that was intended to overview the posts.
And after a while, payments were made maybe twice a year.

These would be the main problems you would have to deal with if you decide to accept managing this campaign.
I would be glad if you do.

Re: What we can do now other than saying HODL?
by
Carlsen
on 23/11/2018, 17:38:06 UTC
Since the last week the price of bitcoin and all the crypto currencies were falling too much,me and lot of other normal small scale investor affected very large by this price fall. Many people saying that this current price fall is due to BCH hashrate war so what we can do now to minimize our losses other than saying the words HODLing as a community?
To be honest, if somebody really feels that he must cut his losses, the best way to do that is to sell the coins. Not owning coins means a further decrease in price will not affect that person.
Of course not owning coins means as well that profiting from a rise in bitcoin price will be impossible as well.
The main question is my eyes is, does somebody believe in bitcoin? If you you think that you must minimize your losses, then the answer most likely is no.

'Alternative facts', that is the first thing that comes in my mind when I hear him talk.
Unfortunatelly that has become a very popular strategy these days.

I'm confused. FUD articles, do they really still do the trick?
I mean, at a certain point everybody must have gotten used to those kind of articles.
It's not the case anymore that bitcoin is that mysterious thing from that dark web only a few people know about.
Personally I do not even follow the news anymore because after a few years it's all just kind of annoying.

I do not think that the this year is the opposite of last year.
Many of the people who got in bitcoin contact last year are still amongst us and have not left the bitcoin business.
It's only that the price has reached a more realistic level.
By the way, in my eyes those ups and downs have become the real engine of bitcoin.

Re: Differences in btc value?

It is sometimes the case that people have only access to exchanges in their own country.
If people in that area decide to buy more bitcoins (maybe because of some economic crisis), the price in that region increases because most people have no other option than to buy at that high price.
People who can buy wherever they want are not affected because they can choose the lowest price!

Re: Beware of YoBit exchange everyone
by
Carlsen
on 15/10/2018, 17:07:44 UTC
I have made some trades, deposits and withdraws at yobit and they all went well without any problem.
What I have read over time is that if problems occure their support could be better.

But what I must admit as well is that as a member of their signature campaign I did not get any payment over the last six months.
That could be seen as withholding money somebody else owns.

Why you then still keep they signature/personal text? Six months is too long time to promote someone and not to be paid...

I used to be in YoBit signature campaign few years ago, and before I left there is always problem with their wallet for signature payments - they actually added limited amounts of BTC in that wallet and only part of the lucky ones withdraw. You should contact other members who still have YoBit signature about payments, if they have an identical problem then just stop promote them.

There is a thread here where other participants say they have the same problem.
The reason why I still wear the signature is because I have not been online here that much for the past months, so the amount they owe me is quite small.
Besides, their pay rates are/were really good. I suppose that somewhere deep down I have still that little glimpse of hope yobit will carry on their campaign at some day.
From all I know, everybody who was on the campaign half a year ago feels this way because they are all still wearing the signature.

But sooner or later I guess we will all have to face the fact that this hope is just a delusion...

Re: LIKE IT OR NOT, BITCOIN IS AN INVESTMENT
by

I think that the whole field of crypto currencies has become an investment. Every currency we have.
During the past months we have seen the altcoins go down while bitcoin has managed to stay relatively stable.
Everybody can draw his/her own conclusions where the trust of the crypto investors is lying and where the focus of the crypto gamblers is aiming at.

I think it is good for both BMW and bitcoin.
BMW shows that it is evolving in every way, even when it comes to payment methods, and bitcoin has another global player as a partner. Win-win!

Re: Will bitcoin go under regulation
by
Carlsen
on 19/06/2018, 08:41:20 UTC
Nearly everything else is regulated, I think that rules how to handle crypto currencies are necessary as well.
And regulating does not mean forbidding. To me regulations describe the place of an institution in an economy. They make it legal.
Being officially declared legal, I think that is a good thing for crypto currencies.

Re: Good Signature Campaign
by

There is a list here that gives an overview of the running signature campaigns.
I have noticed that the number of campaigns having trouble is increasing (mine included).
It is getting more and more difficult to get a free spot in a campaign, so people who are in it don't leave anymore just hoping the payments will be made again.

Re: Are bounties and Airdrops worth it?
by
Carlsen
on 19/06/2018, 07:54:52 UTC
I think that many bounties are initiated without the intention of ever making a payment. Members have the problem that there is nothing they can do if that happens.
And with many of those bounties where the member really gets something, there the value of the coin itself tends against zero.

In contrast to that there is are signature campaigns here on this forum. Most of them give reliable payment.

Re: what are the common challenges for bitcoin user?
by
Carlsen
on 11/05/2018, 13:39:58 UTC
I think that a very big challange will be the regulation of the ICO market.
A lot of money flows there, but once regulations are made, I suppose the number of new ICOs will decrease on a larger scale.
I fear that with less money circulating, the attention the world brings to the crypto sector right now will go down as well, and that would mean even less money circulating.

The news say that the largest exchange in South Korea (UPbit) has been searched by authorities.
UPbit allegedly sold coins they did not have and that would be fraud.
Bad news about major exchanges always drag the brice down. But experience from the last years has shown that this dips usually do not last very long.

Bitcoin can have any value, it does not depend on whales.
When enough people want to own bitcoin, that can easily surpass the demand the whales can create.
And with enough demand, reaching 20K in bitcoin price is more than possible.

Re: Does this mean Cash will be extinct?
by

on 22/04/2018, 14:14:03 UTC
I am convinced that the day will come (in many many decades) where cash will not be accepted anymore in most countries.
For the industry digital transactions have the advantage against cash transactions that they are simply cheaper.
And when it comes up to saving money, that will prevail against a more expensive method on the long run.

Re: By which year you think?
by
Carlsen
on 28/03/2018, 06:23:37 UTC
I think that it strongly depends on the country you live in by when the cashless form of payment will take over nearly completely.
In some northern European countries that has nearly happened.
They even accept credit cards in churches or have some kind of ATM there, because nobody has cash in the pocket anymore to give as a donation.

I do not think that it will be the privately founded crypto currency that will be the main payment method.
The majority of the people love their fiat, they will not leave it.
