Cryptopia says that DARK has a new "fork" but the chain will not fork because of the upgrade. There were no changes to the core that would cause a fork. The Cryptopia block explorer has remained on the same chain as the seed nodes and rest of the network. No second chains have been found on the network since the upgrade.
We are still waiting on Cryptopia to update it's DARK wallet, but they are still working hard on their own website updates.

There is no need to convert.
Just stop your old client. Rename your old FUD application data directory to DARK (or to .DARK if on linux). Then name your conf file to dark.conf. Delete your peer.dat and any addnodes in your conf. Then crank up the new wallet. Post here if you have any problems.
To answer your question about masternodes, DARK is not a masternode type anon like Dash.
I don't understand this coin 
It started as FUD coin. It's about 7 months old. Pure PoS. It had a 120 day mining period. It was on C-CEX but got dropped for lack of volume. It was also on allcrypt, which went under. It has always been on cryptopia as FUD. Some trading has gone on at cryptopia.
Recently it re-branded to DARK because Dark went to Dash.
As FUD it was never hyped. As DARK, it hasn't been hyped, only trolled.
It's just a regular coin. Either way, you can't buy any right now because the wallet is in maintenance at cryptopia. This means you are in no danger of getting "scammed".

P.S.: I'm having a hard time letting go of the FUD theme, so my posts sometimes sound like I'm fudding this coin. But I am the lead dev.

The official newest release is 1.2.0.1. Update ASAP. Download from the OP only.
Any posts with OP links in them will be deleted.
The new commit enforces using tor, which is now built in. You should receive an alert if you are running wallets older than 1.2.0.1. It looks like the alerts have resulted in most if not all the stake moving to the tor network. If you try to stake on the old chain, you will probably stake only orphans.

We've had people notice new commits and are attempting to build based on that. The release is not done. Makefiles have not been updated to support the changes. Also, if you manage to build, you won't be able to join the network. Give us a couple of days to finish up and get out an "official" release.
Treat this as a typical OSS project where devs push commits between releases.

New update fixes the console problem in windows.
The download links are in the OP. Changes have been made for both OSX and Windows. GitHub has been updated.

Hello to Alligator Hunter from Ho Lee. Hopefully dev do well for DARK. I still hold many coin from digging during early days. I go see show with family often, I like good show.

For the windows console problems seen by jeffery_dahmer (if that's your real name), I'm tracking down the bug. It seems it has to do with the libraries I'm linking against and not the code itself. I'll have a new windows build within a day.

I thought of changing Dashcoin into Darkcoin immediately which would have been the better move and then as long as they kept their git up to date with XMR they would have had a worthy product with a following. You guys are just wasting your time but may make a few hundred off the tards that abound.

Dark is a good name. With that you can't disagree. So why not take it?
Also, everyone knows what shorting is. There are two ways to do it:
1. Sell your holdings now and buy back later cheaper.
2. Get a loan from someone in the alt you want to short. Dump immediately what they loan you and then buy what you owe when the loan is due.
Everyone suggests #1 because there isn't a market for shorting alts. The only other option is to find a trustworthy escrow and give them a deposit that will cover a reasonable price increase, like 1000%.

We haven't seen evidence of a trademark for the DarkCoin name. Our logo doesn't look the same as theirs. No one from the Dash team has contacted us. Plenty of angry trolls have popped up in here though, bumping our thread. It's helped to raise our profile a bit. Thanks for your help!

I see. There was a lot of excitement during the re-brand launch and one of the few people who were posting to the dev account were not too careful with how they phrased things. Sorry if that is confusing.

We aren't the same devs as LitecoinDark. I am the original dev of FUD. That theme played out and we were looking for a rebrand. We played with the idea of the name "Perpetual", bringing a little creative and managerial talent into the team, and just as we were about to do a full scale rebrand, the coin formerly known as DarkCoin rebranded to Dash. At that point is was obvious what our new brand would be. This wasn't premeditated. It was opportunistic.
There is no goal to confuse anyone. Just bring it up and we will clarify.
We believe someone may have made a mistake to the tune of about 0.2 BTC a day or so after the rebrand. But they did not buy our coins. They bought someone else's. As you can imagine, we were watching price movement and volume pretty closely after our change, so we noticed these trades.
We absolutely don't want confusion. We just wanted a cool brand, and DarkCoin was availble.

Read the original FUDcoin thread. Except for a pretty standard ninja-launch instamine, the history of this coin is sparkling. It has been very low-priced for many months, so there has been plenty of opportunity for people to get in. If the trades on Cryptopia are real, people are still getting in for a good price.
