Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation

So...  most of the last version upgrade is terribly positive.  More new and important features.  A more stable and quicker IMHO GUI wallet.  Subadresses, multisig, and so on.

But the big NEWS is the tweak to render current ASICS useless.

And we are seeing the insane drop in hashrate, and crazy rise in mining profitability.

But here in the SPECULATION thread I do not see much speculation as to what this means price wise for Monero.  I can't really figure it out myself.  So many moving parts...  So far there's been a little drop in price.  I imagine Jihan want's to revenge sell...  and he might have a warchest to do that with, though I doubt he kept more than he sold.  Then there are the forks.  Not a direct relationship, but related at least.

What do you guys think.  Way less hashpower hitting the network, yet so much more decentralized.  Web miners suddenly more profitable.

I think ASIC resistance is a positive thing for the project... but what does this do to the price?

I'd expect the massive dumping already happened (XMR ~ 50% of last month's high)

ASIC resistance is a goal of the project - price I'd expect to be a stable growth now, without meteoric rises hopefully attracting too much speculation.

Massive drop in hash shows that all the jscript miners really haven't deployed any updates. Similar situation appears to be true with botnet miners and ASIC miners, for now.

I think the previous mining is mainly done by the ASIC. There are still about 850MH/s mining the XMO

Im considering buying monero.  However, what is the absolute highest price you guys think monero can hit?  Its already over 200 dollars.  Does anyone here think 2k or 5k is possible?  The fact that its a privacy coin and talked about alot should mean a lot right?

I think the price could be between 0.1 to 0.2 bitcoin. So it will be around 1000 to 2000 dollars.

For a long time we did not believe that scrypt ASICs was possible, then X11 ASICs appeared...

If the ETH does not change to PoS, ETH ASIC will be there as well.

Now on Byteball we can create our own tokens. Soon, an influx of new projects will begin that will be based on Byteball technological blockchain.

It is sad that byteball does not have an option to create collateralized tokens, i.e. such tokens which are backed by reserve in some other token. Combined with oracles, this could have very nice use cases.

Do you mean that can be used in ICO?

I have a contract with them and if you got to add additional hash to your contract their Monero contracts say; "New powerful Asic mining technology" Smiley

Is that really ASIC?

Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin, just watch! It is much better. Smart Contracts. Fast block times. Welcoming community. Clear leadership.

You are too optimistic. Smart contract can also built on BTC system.
Every good idea can be used by BTC.
I don't see how smart contracts are something revolutionary, when Blackcoin had it even before ETH and small number of people here even know this, because they didnt use ICO funds for aggressive marketing, cause they are not ICO!

I think the bitcoin can learn from Ethereum to do smart contract.

XRM seem sto be the darling of traders presently and I think it deserves it, I can see the price hitting parity with Zcash soon, if the developer can sustain the good work.

It is true anonymous.

All things considered, ETH held pretty strong over the last couple days.
Probably a good sign if you are invested in a long position.

Seems like it was an absolute bottom. I'm glad I bought a lot during those dumps. The rise isnt even a pump, just accumulation and buying in low prices. It will go over 1700 this week for sure. Wink

When the ZCash mania finish in a few months time, then people's attention will be diverted back.

Hi all

i'm looking on Ether currency, its look nice but are you guys think this over 12-24 mounth wil riase a huge price like Bitcoin hase done, or you think its more stable?
Ethereum price now is quite good enough that you can sell your ethereum right now after few investors pumppp the ethereum hope that it will continue too , so that we can earn lots of bitcoin when the time comes for selling ours ethereum coins Smiley

It is possible that the Etheruem price will rise further. So it is better not to sell it for the fiat. It is OK to sell for bitcoin.

That is right. If you do not want to hold the Etheruem, you can sell it for the bitcoin as its price will rise.

The ETH price has dropped against the bitcoin in the last few days. But that is due to the price rise of bitcoin.

Re: [2016-09-30] CoinIdol - QIWI Calls To Use Blockchain Against Digital Slavery
by
Casmatesid
on 30/09/2016, 17:08:03 UTC
Speaking at the second annual conference "Flexible Project Management in Banking", Alexey Arkhipov, CTO of Qiwi, stated that Blockchain can help to prevent digital slavery.

The CTO of QIWI, a payment service provider headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus, pointed out that it is necessary today to determine the rules of digital identity registration and its protection. He said:
“The main thing is to make sure that the person’s "digital identity" belongs to this person. When we speak about the centralized storage of biometric data, it turns out that a person actually "gives" his digital identity to someone. In fact, this means that he gives rights to someone, for example, to transfer his funds from one bank to another.”
Alexey Arkhipov noted that banking and financial operators often forget about the user. Sometimes users must cope with the problem of a lack of interoperability and decentralization in the financial industry, when a user must submit his/her data to different banks and financial companies multiple times.
He said:
“While solving the problem of a lack of interoperability, [banks and financial operators] can accidentally invent digital slavery, when the digital identity of users is controlled by the operator of the system.”
Blockchain can help to solve this problem, as it provides convenient technology for data storage. However, Blockchain is a distributed ledger system and decentralization is a key of this technology. But banks, again and again, try to both find a way to use it and make it centralized.
Alexey Arkhipov reminded:

“Of course, centralization eliminates risks and defines responsibility, and this is convenient. But if you use Blockchain for centralized management - it is no longer Blockchain, but just another centralized system with the nominal use of new technology.”

In fact, the ETH price has risen against ETC. The ETC is just 12% of ETH price now. The ETH will also have a meeting soon.

Both the Etheruem ETH and ETC price is quite stable recently. I think the price could be stalbe for some time to come.

When the Monero mania dies down, I think the money will flow back to Ethereum. The price will rise a lot.

during community monero coin is solid trade and solid use monero
monero coin never die still in trade big exchanger
but is monero coin down price very posible , but wait after big dump
ussualy can down

If that is the case, I will wait some time until the Monero price drops further. It might drop 50% or more.

I do not know why many Ethereum fork holders are happy with the price right now. The movement is still weak and it is very possible that it will go down again. It would be safer to save your money now and buy at a lower price later. If you buy now you are taking more extra risk than by buying lower.

The ETC price is dropping at the moment, if the trend continues, by the end of August, the DAO hacker will not earn much.

Some ETC holders are very rich, they own a lot of bitcoins. So they might be able to support the price after the dump.

So let them do that. I think the Ethereum Foundation should sell its ETC at the current price to support the development of ETH.

The ETC has already declared independence. So it has its own community and its community will support its development.

Does not mean that the Ethereum Foundation will not support the ETC developments in the future?

The Ethereum Foundation will have nothing to do with the ETC. The ETC can copy the code if it wants to do. That will be a clone.

The Ethereum Classic has already declared independenece.

I think it will only use the codes from the ETH very selectively.

That could be true. I heard there is a meeting of the ETC developers in London. But there is not much information about the meeting itself.

The ETC price dropped after the meeting, so there could be no good news from the meeting in London.

In fact, the ETH price has risen against ETC. The ETC is just 12% of ETH price now. The ETH will also have a meeting soon.

Wow alot has happened since July 11th it has been a really bad time since that date for many of us.
Almost a month later I do hope to have some good news soon or this might be the end for many of us on the edge of collapse. Cry

The next good news could be the block size increase to 2MB or even higher. That will help the adoption of bitcoin.

When the block size is increased to 2MB, we do not have to wait for too long to get the confirmation. I will use bitcoin more.

i am gonna post this kind of guessing, because i am curious that what  will ever happen when the block is just halved and/or it is just happened. anyone? Huh
i got an idea that to trade more with bitcoin to gain more popularity/demand of the bitcoin. Smiley
Were already leaving july and the price did not reach the 705$ mark. But its not a sign that bitcoin will go down.,infact its sign of bitcoin rising that will lead to a unexpexted price.

I think the bitcoin price will trade betwen $640 to 660 in the next few days. There is no news to drive the price.

If the bitcoin is very stable and rise just 1% per week, it will be a good candidate to be a currency.

I've sold half of my coins. I'm ready for any thing, if it goes up or goes down, I can deal with the situation.
Well, we need a bitcoin rise more than $ 70 now, but I am not sure it will happen in two days. bitcoin price probably will be $ 700 in this month, but I am not sure it will happen on the 11th of July to come. I am pretty sure it will happen at the end of the month of July, well but we better hope that it will happen.
The present bitcoin price is $660 this upsurge in Bitcoin price seems good and hope it will reach $700 within two days and within this month the price can reach $800.

That prediction was pretty good. I think the bitcoin price is quite stable at the moment, good for adoption.

Looks like expectations for the Halving is very high and I honestly think they not going to be happy with the end result. We should have seen a lot more hype in the media for this event, for the price to be much higher and we are not seeing that. I hope someone will approach the mainstream media before this happens to bump the hype under the speculators a bit. ^smile^

My prediction is more conservative at $650. ^hmmmm^

the timing may not be right but the rise is on the way.

besides the hype is already in the market and it is high because of the halving so $700+ is an easy target especially with the recent rise.

I think the price could be $680 to 720 during the halving. The halving is already reflected in the price.
