Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 10000 miners

Hi, What's your settings in Options -> Statistics -> Update interval (minimum 2 Minutes) ?
as well as Options -> Profit Switching -> Switching interval (minimum 30 Seconds) ?

the info displayed in Coins tab is updated as per schedule set in the former (subject to API availability from providers)

the info displayed in View Details is updated as per schedule set in the latter (subject to Profit Profile Settings -> Enabled Algo, Enabled Software, Enabled Pools)

So they will almost always be out of sync in one way or another, and degree of difference is expected amplified if the interval difference of the 2 is several (tens of) minutes apart, especially if you have lots of coins with low block times and high difficulty adjust frequency enabled. (you are likely seeing lots more of mining the wrong coin scenario especially with algos such as C11, Lyra2v2, Neoscrypt, Tribus, HMQ1725, Skein ... etc. as the profitability tend to spike due to high difficulty adjustment frequency in coins that utilise these algos, many adjust difficulty every block)

Hello,

Thank you for your reply but that doesn't seem to be the cause. One is set to 2 minutes and the other to 3 minutes.
The 1 minute difference doesn't explain the extreme difference shown.

Also, it seems the issue only happens when you have the same pool with the same wallet/username even though the other fields are different.
I suspect that AM is not referring to each pool with its unique ID but rather seems to be identifying each pool/coin using only the wallet/user or a combination of pool url + wallet.

Hello Patrike,

I sent you an email regarding this issue but never got a reply.
AM seems to be having issues within the profit switching calculator.
The information shown in the "Coins" tab doesn't match what is shown when you right click on the miner and you click on  "Details".
This seems to be causing AM to choose the wrong coin to mine (unless the actual issue is the "Coins" tab showing wrong info).

Hello,

On Windows, with the latest AMD drivers (18.3.4), if the Compute mode is enabled, mkxminer is unable to use the GPU (hashrate is 0 and later on the device is reported as SICK).
It works fine with the blockchain driver but I am unable to use that one because of the 8 GPU limit it has.

Difficulty parameter is not working

Hello,

It seems like the difficulty parameter is no longer working.
Doesn't matter what you put after "d=", the stratum will always start with its own difficulty. It won't even look at the parameter to at least start from it.

you are the first person ive heard have troubles on ubuntu. what version of ubuntu are you running? prior to 16.04 might have some odd issues since most development has been done past 2016 and 14.04 is from 2014.
are you compiling for ubuntu with the autotools or the makefile?
are you compiling lynx yourself or running the appimage published to the website?

there is no QT wallet anymore. so, thats correct, it shouldnt compile.

yes, lynx is buggy. we are working on it. its something new to crypto in general and will probably have some bugs for a little while. in the end though it will be better for users than any of the qt wallets out there.

The coin has reached maximum supply. staking will only yield tx fees.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

A) I'm using Linux Mint 18.3 which is based on Ubuntu 16.04.

B) I have tried both ways:
1- Running make -f makefile.unix inside the src folder (as per the doc/build-unix.MD file).
2- Running ./autogen.sh followed by ./configure and make
After correcting some errors, the first one kinda works but of course only produces the "eccoind" file (no GUI wallet) and trying to call "eccoind" with "--help" argument results in a segmentation fault error.
The second one requires A LOT of fixes to make it work and even so it is still plagued by the same error as the first one.

C) I tried the Linux version of the appimage published  on the website. Running it results in the following error:
execv error: No such file or directory
I am running it inside firejail (I don't run any wallet with full access to my files) but according the documentation from AppImage, any wallet should run fine from within firejail.

D) In my opinion, even if you find Lynx a great thing, you should provide a working wallet base on QT until Lynx is a viable choice.
Right now it is just a piece of bloated software full of errors. No one wants that.

E) I don't see any rewards, not even transaction fees. Instead my balance goes down and Lynx shows less coins than what I bought (which seems to be just another bug of Lynx as the debug console shows my correct balance).

Hello,

There are some issues with your project:

1) It is extremely difficult to compile on Ubuntu. It is just one error after the other.
I lost track of how many errors I had to correct. I even had to copy files and instructions from other coins to get it to compile.

2) The Lynx wallet refuses to run on Ubuntu.

3) The QT wallet doesn't compile.

4) The Lynx wallet is extremely buggy (even on Windows). Empty messages and "NaN" quantities all over the place.
I can't help but say "what a piece of $%#".

5) Staking works but no rewards are accrued even after several days. Hundreds of transactions shown and no rewards.

6) You need to create a real wallet and get rid of that Lynx stuff.

So far, my numbers are not far off from yours.
For MPH, is that number based on BTC auto-exchange or are you mining a specific coin and receive only that coin?

Thanks.

For MPH I used BTC auto-exchange.
At the end (and after allowing several days for the results to settle), MPH seems to be the one which is the most reliable in terms of the estimated profit they report.

Hi Patrike,
The next feature

The option to add a service in Options > Online Services is OK, but it lacks the ability to add a new site thats not pre-built into Awesome Miner, example here is Yiimp.eu and a few others.

This would be a great addition too if this could be added to allow the user to add sites / services here so that Awesome Miner can use those sites to it's full potential and not just Pool options in  Options > Pools.

I look forward to some thoughts on these from others too.

Thanks.

I second this!

For NiceHash, it appears to be fairly accurate - within 95% range.

But for AHashPool and HashRefinary, they are still wildly off. Of course, not the fault of AM but still, that's what you get. I haven't even tried the ZPool yet due to it having somewhat worse reputation than the others supported by AM but I'm going to try that out within few days.

I'm trying to figure out the right % for each pool so that I can more realistically do profit switching across different pools. For now, I'm sticking to one pool at a time and figuring out what this % should be.

Without the right %, pool switching is pretty much useless - 90% of the time it will be AHashPool, 8% HashRefinery then 2% for the rest.

In my tests, these are the numbers I found:

Nicehash: 98%
MiningPoolHub: around 98%, probably a bit more
Ahashpool: about 68%
Hashrefinery: about 75%
Zpool: less than 60% of what they actually publish

Hello Patrike,

It seems I have come across another bug.
It seems that AM  is unable to obtain API data from any of the Claymore's software whenever the amount of GPU is equal or above to 10.

To test it, I unplugged GPUs until I was down to 8 and it worked fine.
Then I plugged back in the 9th and it was working fine.
Then I plugged the 10th and once again AM was unable to get stats from Claymore and with it I'm back to the "Interface Offline" message inside Awesome Miner.

Unfortunately, this causes AM to unnecessarily restart the miner every now and then.
I am aware that I can disable the rule restarting the miner but then that will leave the rig down next time a real error happens and a restart is actually needed.

Hello,

Very nice program!
I just discovered it and started testing it right away.

Please add API support as soon as possible.
Also, it would be great if the API behaves in the same way as the one in CCMiner. That way we can just replace CCMiner with your program.

Hello,

I mined for a while at the EU official pool ( pool-eu.smartcash.cc ) and it seems like everything I mined on this pool got rolled back and dropped from the blockchain.
I read somewhere that you guys were to honor everything mined at the official pools but it doesn't seem like that.

As an example, here is the ID one of the transactions from the EU official pool which got dropped: 57b5555a49b092c166e540235260c8d94c6812c070e7c9201f8596d8d012183f

Could you please investigate?

Hello Patrike,

Thanks for your replies. Below are my answers to your questions:

1) I can add white space trimming to minimize input mistakes
Thank you!

2) Hash Refinery API is down, and that's probably why you can't get Awesome Miner to read new pools from it. I tried this with zpool intead and it works with yescrypt (I tried to add it to cpuminer-opt, works great but maybe not the most profitable mining I ever seen).
It is not down. The frontend was under heavy load due to the Nicehash hack so it would temporarily stop responding.
http://pool.hashrefinery.com/api/currencies

2) Do you have multiple pools on the same coin? Otherwise you could set the profit factor on the coin itself (Coins tab, then click Coin Properties in the toolbar)
Yes, for redundancy one needs to have more than one pool. But because not all of them have the same fee (and some of them like to shave the earnings), it is necessary to have some factor so the program always try to connect to the most profitable one first.

3) I will not argue that the benchmarking can be improved. But do you have that many different GPU types you need to benchmark, compared to how many miners you have in total? If you have a large number of miners, benchmarking a single GPU should be time saving as you don't have to benchmark so many rigs.
This is not always the case. I have 19 GPUs which are supposed to be equal (13 of them in the same rig) and they can be split into three separate groups because not all of them perform the same.
My point is, why not just benchmark the whole thing instead of doing individual benchmark?
Unless you are planning to do something like Nicehash Legacy Miner does, it doesn't make sense to have a separate benchmark for each GPU.
That would be nice maybe in the future, if you ever add the capability of treating each GPU as a separate entity. But right now it is just unnecessary pain, in my opinion.

5) Can you explain the -dcri part a bit more? Is it per secondary coin you want to set unique (like -dcri 30 for Pascal and -dcri 60 for Decred?) or is it per GPU? In your Profit Profile settings, you can select Claymore Etheruem miner and click Configure, where you can set different device profiles (where -dcri is a part) for each secondary coin. Please let me know if I didn't understood your question correctly here.

It is for Ethereum dual mining.
Roughly explained, the "dcri" parameter allows you to adjust Claymore and decide how much power you want allocate to either Ethereum or the secondary coin.
Due to constant price fluctuations, a fixed "dcri" parameter won't always be the most profitable, specially when you take in consideration the three secondary coins (Lbry, Decred, Pascal).
You will probably get a better idea if you download Nicehash Legacy Miner and let it benchmark your GPU for different "dcri" levels.

on 19/12/2017, 22:27:56 UTC
Hello Patrike,

Below are some bug reports and some suggestions:

Bugs:

1) When you copy/paste an address into a field (Nicehash, Hashrefinery, Zpool, etc) it is possible to accidentally paste an invisible new line at the end of the address.
This new line will remain there screwing up your miner's launch and without you knowing why it is failing. Took me about 2 and half hours of debugging to find the culprit.
The program should sanitize that information and remove any non alphanumeric characters.

2) It is impossible to add some algorithms. I mean, you can add them and it seems like they are added but they never appear in the "Online Services" tab (the one with the Revenue/Profit list, not the one inside Options).

Try it yourself... attempt to add "yescrypt" and make it appear for Hashrefinery. I have tried on several computers and the program simply refuses to show it even after following all the steps, adding the algorithm, adding it to the mining software and then adding it to the pool in Online Services (the one inside Options).

Suggestions:

1) Create a rule capable of detecting the algorithm being launched.

2) Allow for "Factor" to be defined for custom pools just like we are able to do with the default ones.

3) The benchmarking tool needs some love. Instead of being forced to benchmark each card one by one, it should benchmark the whole lot together.
I know Nicehash used to do it individually (later improved in the legacy miner) but at least they would launch separate miners depending on the profitability of each card.
Right now your program is not designed to do anything like that, so I don't see any reason why benchmarking has to done one card at a time.
As an example, look at what MultipoolMiner does. Simple, efficient, grouped benchmark.

4) After the previous one, you would want to include several versions of the same miner software (like you do now with two versions of ccminer and sgminer).
Once the benchmarking is handled with all cards as a single group, it should do every algorithm with every compatible miner and keep the best performer.

5) Allow us to define different levels of "-dcri" for Claymore Ethminer. Right now this is impossible to do, even if you try to work around it by creating another algorithm with a new name.
Either allow us to add dual mining algorithms or modify the current one so it is capable of having several fields for several values of "-dcri".

Thanks for reading! Here's hoping to see the bugs squished soon.

It says on the bottom, add  "--platform 1" to your command line (.conf file/.bat file) if platform 1 doesn't work, try 0 or 2, my AMD were on platform 2
I hope this works for you, I had the same problem but I was playing with -d 1 config, so was completely off track.

Thank you for your reply but as you can see in my post, I tried all the available platforms, just to ensure the OP wouldn't tell me to try another one.

Thank you for creating this program.

I have been trying to use it but no matter what I try, the program never starts mining, it just goes back to the command prompt without giving any reason why.

Please take a look at everything I tried so far (as a clarification, Sgminer says my AMD cards are on platform 1):

It has been 7 days since I contacted Bittrex support about my disabled account.
So far they haven't even acknowledged the outstanding ticket.

Their system automatically replied a second after I opened the ticket stating "For Accounts valued at over $1000 USD we require additional information for proof of identity".
I submitted the required selfie and not even a peep from them.

It seems they feel they can appropriate your money without even owning an explanation. They are quite the professionals.

I'm in the same boat with Bittrex.

They disabled my account just because. No explanation, no replies (except automatic, one second after, replies) whatsoever.
Several months ago I tried to do the Enhanced Verification and it would always fail for whatever reason and with a cryptic weird message so I only had basic verification.

I always tried to keep my coins outside exchanges but with the increase of the value of Bitcoin and with a deposit from Nicehash, my account was pushed above the USD $1000 and they locked it.
Now they just read the tickets, mark them as "Solved" without replying or doing anything.
I already sent them the requested selfie holding the ID, a piece of paper with the letters "Bittrex" and the date. Nothing.

And I don't live in a 3rd world or war ravaged country, so the "it's only Iranians" or "it's only Syrians" argument doesn't apply to me.

Live and learn. Even though $1,000 is a nice bunch of money, at least it didn't cost me $10,000 to learn that Bittrex can't be trusted.
