What happened to Charity Mining Pool?

And...

Looks like many of the pools listed in the OP no longer exist, might be time to update the OP, stale info doesn't site well with potential investors and, if you know of other Dnotes pools, please list as well.

Thanks!

Sent Charity a message, was running a little bit ago, I'm sure they will be back up soon. As far as the other pools, I removed mineoncloud, the others all seem to be up and running.

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with my hosting provider (OVH) and they are experiencing some issues with one of their VPS clouds which CharityMiningPools is hosted on.  No ETA was provided, but I was assured that they are aware of the issue and hope to have things restored shortly.  Sorry for the inconvenience, since I switched over to OVH I haven't had any issues with their service up until now and the pool has been a LOT more stable then when running with DigitialOcean.

I also own and operate CryptoBlox.com which does have a mining portal for DNotes based on NOMP which allows you to mine directly to your wallet.  This site is luckily on a different VPS Cloud and is up and running if you you need a place to point your miners while OVH resolves their issues affecting CharityMiningPools.  http://mine.cryptoblox.com/  I've removed the usual %1 fee from here for you all you use free of charge while Charity is down.

I will post when they have resolved the issue and when I get things back up and running.

Thanks,
CharityMiningPools

Looks like the issues have been resolved and we're back up and running.  Thank you all for your patience and happy mining!

Hey guys, we're working on getting the pool back up and running.  Switched to a new hosting company last week that has since screwed me over by suspending my VMs due to "CPU Abuse".  Why would you offer services for VM hosting when you don't allow your clients to use 25% of the promised CPU use on them is beyond me.  Anyways, rebuilding at our old providers and should have them up in a few hours.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

CharityMiningPools

Alright guys, we're finally back up and running.  Sorry for the delay. Had to rebuild the server with a new provider and import the existing DB.  Good news is that we've upgraded our servers in the process.  Smiley

Is there some way to contact charity mining pools. I looked for contact info on the pool site but didn't find any. Their payouts don't seem to be working.

Sorry for the delay.  The payout CRON had stopped running.  It has since been re-started and all payouts have been processed.  Best way to contact me is via BitCoinTalk right now until I get my support center site back up and running.  I've migrated to a new provider and have to complete the support center setup still.  Priority was to move the pools over with little to no interruption.  I expect to have the support center re-opened within the next few days.

Who Are We?
CharityMiningPools was created to allow miners the ability to mine coins while still knowing that their hashing power is going towards something good.  Our goal is to provide a positive and reliable service while delivering a small portion of the proceeds to a deserving recipient.  Plans are in the works to allow individual miners to choose where they would like to donate to based on a pool of available recipients.

How Does This Work?
All coins mined at CharityMiningPools will require a mandatory Donation fee.  This donation fee will be collected and donated to the designated charitable recipient for that given month.  Though we only require a minimum 0.75% Donation fee, we welcome and encourage our miners to raise the stakes and donate more to a good cause.

Cheers!

Hey all, I have manually processed the missed payouts that had failed to process due to being on the wrong chain on the 20th of June.  Any payouts that had occurred (Manual or Auto) did not get processed yet still show a transaction number in your transaction history.  The time frame of these were all June 20th between 16:25 and 23:45.  The manual payouts listed below cover those specific payouts and you should be receiving them shortly if not already.  These will not show up in the pool transactions which is why I have included them here because they were all manually processed.  If I happen to have missed anyone please PM me and I'll quickly track it down if you can provide me your username on the pool and the date and time of the payout but I'm pretty confident that this covers them all.

I am also looking at reimbursing those that were mining during this time as no valid coins would have been mined yet your has power would have been used.  Just going through the list of miners now and should have some coins sent out to those of you that were active during that time.

btw, our stratum is still down as we are still working on getting the database cleaned up so that the CRONS will run properly.  Sorry for the inconvience caused but we want to make sure everything is in line and working properly before going live again.

No root cause has been found, we were on the latest version and also using the same 3 addnodes listed in the OP.

Interesting thing going on. Could not get my wallet to fully sync no matter what so, did a repair and it synced but, it has been open most of the afternoon and only finds 2 active nodes. Is there a new set of node addresses or should I not even worry...

I've noticed some intermittent connection issues the last couple days. 2 connections is ok, not ideal, but I am also working on setting up some new nodes. I should be able to give an update later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Hey DNotes, doesn't look like the Block Explorer is syncing anymore either and is stuck at 177420.   Tried restarting it but still no go.

I will hold off on sending out the payouts from Charity until we get the connection issues resolved.  Stratum will also remain down as well until all issues are resolved.

No worries, looks like I'm going to have to leave the stratum shutdown until I get the database sorted out and clean up all the invalid blocks.  The Findblock and BlockUpdate crons won't run right now.  Payout CRON does however appear to be running fine so your payout should still go though.

This could take a while so please switch to another pool while we sort things out.  Sorry for the issues.

PLEASE SWITCH YOUR MINERS TO ANOTHER POOL UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE WHILE WE WORK THROUGH THE DATABASE ISSUES CAUSED BY THE CHAIN FORK!  THE STRATUM MAY BE DOWN FOR THE WEEKEND.  ALL COINS ARE SAFE!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused, we are still looking for a root cause to this.

Very glad that there gathered together and pool owner and developer and miner crypto :-)
Solve problems together.

Hey CryptoBomg, I've resent the payout for you and confirmed the transaction.  Should get it shortly.

NOTE: I have determined the start time of the problem and will be paying all other transactions tomorrow night once I compile the list and will provide new transaction IDs for all of them here.  It appears that if you had a Manual Payout or Auto Payout between 15:10 and 23:40 EST on the 20th the transactions would have tried to go out on the wrong chain and thus no coins would have been ever been received.  All of these transactions will be manually processed by me and a complete list will be provided as they will not appear in the Pool Transactions.

The stratum will remain shutdown until further notice while we work on resolving the invalid blocks in the database.  No ETA at this time.

I have confirmed and verified that any new payouts processed from the pool are working normally.

Keep you all updated as we make progress.

Hard fork ?

Great catch by the way CryptoBomg. Thank you!

Looks like it's syncing correctly now.  It's in line with the explorer now.  Not sure how this happened since we are running the latest version and using the same addnodes.  Must have picked up a node somewhere that got us off target somehow.  Think I may lock it down to your 3 nodes going forward, or those 3 and a few other "Known" good nodes.

Will start the stratum Server back up shortly, need to figure out the database side of things since it already thinks that we found the current blocks up until 176472.

Sorry for the problems guys, I truly have no clue how it went off target and will reimburse anyone that appears to have lost anything due to the incorrect blocks.  Please PM me if you notice any issues or missed payouts.

Perfect CMP, thanks again for the quick response and action!

Ok, at about 100k blocks now while rebuilding the chain for Charity.  Will keep you posted.

Great job! Thank you.

Hard fork ?

It looks like something is wrong. Charityminingpool appears to be ahead in blockcount and their pool is not paying out. I would recommend switching pools if you're mining on charity until we figure it out. Also, some of the other indicators appear like there is a fork on the network.

I'm messaging Charity now.

Looking into this now.  Noticed that both the CryptoBlox Block Explorer and the pool have 0 connections and are therefore not syncing.

Using the latest version 1010000 for both and the same addnodes listed in the OP also.

Well, your on the correct version. There is some kind of mismatch on the network. I'll keep looking see what I can come up with.

Thanks for the quick response!

No worries, I've shutdown my stratum for the pool while I rebuild the chain.  The Charity Pool shows 176472 blocks while the Explorer and the CryptoBlox Pool show 176400.  All using the same addnodes listed in the OP and the same version.  Strange.  Can we confirm 100% which one is the actual correct chain?  Going to assume the Explorer and CryptoBlox Pool and not my Charity Pool.

Cryptoblox appears to be syncing with me and the nodes.
