Re: Be Prepared For Big Funds To Enter Crypto Space, is it good sign?

Soros last time he did short UK Pound, so for now maybe he will also prepare for short
Hi All,

I thought that last price jump should be something reason, there are several factors such as G-20, then later to the decreasing significantly of market price until perhaps certain value. One of reason is entering of big world class person/institution into crypto space. Recently we heard John MccAFee, and now there are several of them:
1. George Soros
2. Rockefeller family
3. Rothschild
4.  Warren Buffett ?

We will see the price of crypto after above are entering into crypto space.....wait for big world class persons/institutions effect....

I believe bitcoin will be 15k$ by 31-Dec-2018.
As We all know, the crypto market has been on a downward trend since the second week of january.
Bitcoin market is still below the $10k mark which it was at the 1st week of February .
What do you guys think would be the price of BTC by December
Do you think bitcoin has the capability to hit the $30,000 mark before the end of 2018 or go below $6000?

keep HODL.

Im thinking about buying more crypto during this bear market.

For me the good altcoins is XRP, IOTA and NEO.
But anyway BTC still the good choice to buy dip.
Right now seems to be a big dip. Not sure how much further it will go down, but right now most coins have attractive prices. What are the best / hottest ones to coin in your opinion and why?

You are absolutely right, all the altcoin need to follow the trend of BTC, including Bitcoin cash.
BCash is the same other altcoin and the BCash supporter should not try to blaim BTC.
This is a good time that showed how the king bitcoin affected all altcoins, so BCash people betraying bitcoin must have taken their lesson: Promote your altcoin, do not badmouth bitcoin, that is what I say. If BTC goes down, your crappy altcoin will go down harder. It is us coiners against the nocoiners and there is no point in fighting for short-term gain.
Bitcoin is like the earth, and the altcoins are like the seeds. If you salt the earth, your seeds will not grow. Bitcoin is the king and everyone has to buy bitcoin to be able to purchase altcoins.

This is nothing related to BitMex.
It's the FUD of the Mt.Gox. The mummy return.
As all of you know that the value dropped from a solid $11.5k to $9.5 recently. Could BitMex, the trading platform for bitcoin on other cryptos, where some users who had difficulty logging into its platform be one of the reasons for it?

Only buy dip and HODL is the best.

Prices again went to the area of 11150. Attempts to update the tops were unsuccessful. Weakness is present, but from the purchase it makes sense to go under 10840. Above you see one of the possible scenarios, which can trigger the price movement down.

Very good analysis. I do believe that btc will be around 9.5k-11.5k for long time before it can go to 15k$ range.
At the end of 2018 we can see 30k$.

https://cardse.net/i/2018/03/02/246c0510d894fa6f9f5707379496635b.png

Overview:
We remain bullish on Bitcoin'.

Technical:
Bitcoin' did not retest the 9977 level (0.618 retrace) which is indicative that though sentiment may be bearish , Bitcoineers are not. Support held at the 10339 level and currently have engulfing candle on the 12 hour. This is often a strong signal for a bullish reversal and seeing it happened at the 0.382 retrace of the recent bull swing it provide additional confirmation that we are likely to move higher. 11k is a level that psychologically needs to be broken and held to move higher. What is interesting is the more information we get the stronger our longer term target becomes. The 1.618 extension of the previous move lands us right in the middle of our longer term target level at 13098. This is the area I am looking for a completion of the current wave count and an area for a sign of a reversal.

Sentiment:
Market sentiment is neutral which where we are starting to see many analysts that were calling for 3k,5k and now 8k, simply trying to make a square block fit in a round hole. I still own my positions that I bought at 13700 13400 and 9700 from before the crash. My cost average is around 12k. Patience and not giving into impulses prevented us from selling at lower levels as the doom and gloomers were calling for lower levels. We were never swayed, and though we had the selloff (in my opinion due to the derivatives meltdown as I wrote about weeks ago) kept to our longer term perspective of the market and are longer term target of 21k.

Fundamental:
Bitcoin' users are expected to reach 200 million by 2024 and we are adding about 1 million new addresses a month. Of the 23+ million addresses about 3% of these are actively used every day. Now Ethereum' has passed Bitcoin' in new addresses with over 27 million addresses, but even with more addresses they have less active addresses then bitcoin' on any given day. Over 1/3 less. Comparing transactions over 18 billion dollars is sent daily compared to less than 1.5 billion dollars for Ethereum'. As demand increases and supply is limited the price is headed in one direction. UP!

Interesting parallel with gold'. Only about 1-2% of Americans own physical gold'. However over 10% have exposure to gold' through ETF’s and the derivatives market. Gold' like Bitcoin' is a pain to own physically. Once ETF’s enter the array of investment products this will bring more money into those wanting to hold Bitcoin' but do not want to hassle with it. They want to go onto Ameritrade and click buy this ETF . Done! Once wall street gets involved if you do not own you will wish you did.

Closing:
The longer term technical perspective is still strong for Bitcoin' and so is the fundamental perspective. Though many are claiming bitcoin' is not good for cash transactions the market clearly thinks differently. People think that fees and speed are what will determine transactions. This is partially true but for large transactions Bitcoin' is still the preferred method of money transfer. Add to this many people like myself simply buy and hold bitcoin' and the future is bright.

Regardless of the naysayers the facts speak different tune. Yes if you are all crypto all the time, then sure you may like other alt coins better. But the main stream investor sees name recognition and is not going to pour their hard earned money into Reddcoin. Seriously. For the nickle and dimers this is fine, but large institutions want security and that is found in bitcoin' PERIOD!

Re: Suggestion: Redistributing Lost Funds by Erosion
by
ChickenDuck
on 22/02/2018, 15:44:18 UTC
This is a very bad idea. People has the right to HODL until they want to use it. No one can force other people to use their asset.
I have a suggestion, and I'd like the community's thoughts.

It is well known that many bitcoins are no longer accessible due to loss of private keys, but no one knows how much. While estimates exist, they rely on imprecise methods. Most famously, there is still a large amount of bitcoin in Satoshi's wallet, and it is unclear whether they will ever be spent. This phenomenon causes undesirable uncertainty in the market, undercuts the slogan "there will eventually be ~21 million bitcoins", and in a sense causes deflation.

I thought of a way to increase transparency as to how many bitcoins are actually in circulation, and also increase miners' rewards, through a process that somewhat resembles erosion (hence the name). Seems to me it can be implemented as a soft-fork, though I haven't worked out the details to verify this (I'd like to hear what the community thinks about this idea before delving in more deeply, if ever).

Onto the idea itself. I'll make up some parameters as an example. Basically, from the moment an address receives funds, a countdown begins. Whatever funds are left in the address after 3 year will start eroding, meaning that every week from then on another 0.1% of the amount in that address may be taken by the miner (technically each block will contain a list of addresses with the funds that were taken).

If you have funds sitting in an address and you don't want them to erode, all you have to do is spend them to yourself once every 3 years. Hot wallets can automate this, and cold wallets can warn you to do this manually. Even if you forget, assuming you at least check once in a while that your funds are in place, you would see the erosion that began, and take action before much damage took place.

Although I don't think it's technically possible to include these eroded funds in the coinbase transaction itself (as that would make it a hard-fork), they could be implemented to act as if they were, i.e. they must mature 100 blocks before being spendable.

So to reiterate, we gain (a) transparency as to how many bitcoins are in circulation, since users are incentivized to prove that they still possess their private key every once in a while, and (b) miners will be able to access lost funds, returning them into circulation and increasing the security of the network.

I go into a bit more detail here to those interested: https://gist.github.com/yotamDvir/e7ff52a34460f3c9a6bf3051b0e51414.

Well there you go, if Ethereum does do well then we all get to be immortal. Hoorah.

22 hrs

Regardless of how well Bitcoin and Ethereum does, cryptocurrency is an antifragile movement, it may be severely weakened by events but it's never going to go away. It had a value long before finance got involved with it (I still remember when a bitcoin was worth 50$ and I couldn't believe it then), and it survived the collapse of Mt. Gox back in 2014, which was the real test of its ability to hold value, not the 2017 bubble, and it passed.

Decentralized cryptocurrency is going to supplant centralized banking currency and NOBODY is read for how severely this will weaken the authority of sovereign states (except maybe the crazy InfoWars crowd).

Diversity is the key. So it’s better to put your crypto in several exchanges.
Is it safe to keep your all crypto currency at a single exchange (bitfinnix)?Or one should choose multiple exchanges.

I don’t think TA really works for crypto, the price of btc is driven by supply vs demand.
If lost of people cash out/take profit then the price will go down, if lost of people buy/HODL then the price will up.

Do you really trust chart analyst?lot of people predict bitcoin price with chart analyst.but i don't trust them.i think bitcoin price and other crypto price depend on supply, demand and NEWS.

Re: The #6 Coin
by
ChickenDuck
on 19/02/2018, 05:42:19 UTC
EOS is #6 and NEO is #7.
A lot of talk about which coins will be dominating in the future, however the current players are unlikely to be dismantled from their current positions any time soon: BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, LTC. They may overtake each other at various stages, but their place in the top 5 is more or less cemented.

Looking forward, who do you think will take the lead at the #6 position this year? Currently it's Cardano, and they do have a solid project, team and fundamentals, so I don't believe they'll be easily eclipsed. However there are 3 serious contenders: NEO, EOS and IOTA - all Gen 3 blockchains as well.

What are your thoughts who will be #6 by EOY?

Yes the big whales can control the price for a short time. But then other whales will take that chance to buy dip/ sell high and the price will move as it should be.
Do you think BTC and other coins that are major, their average prices are held by the Whales. Who really control the market?
they let it move or at least trigger buy and sell reactions from investors.

they know they could bring BTC to 1 dollar if they want, but wont cause too much is at stake?

your thoughts?
