Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts

Maybe https://forum.ethereum.org support the 51% attack on Classic and want it to go ahead and are not letting me post.

I was just going to point out that it is being reported on by the crypto press already.

Brilliant idea to discuss it in public. Such a nice community too  Grin

And now he is on reddit :
https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4v7s04/smart_contract_mining_pool_to_fund_51_attack/

Vitalium believers are getting angry, when it doesn't go their way they just want to burn everything.

If I sold now I would have 6btc profit. But there's no point in wishing. Stuff happens in trading with alt-coins. Wish nem all the best!

Dude, I sold my free stake at 300 satoshis for 6 BTC, and it would now be worth more than 20 BTC.
I'm not complaining, it's still 6 BTC for free and I bought some back and profiting from this rise, but I'm kicking myself hard. So, fellow nemsters, HODL !

Double top on the 5 minute at 870, the resistance is strong and the bid side is soooo thin.
Buy 800-810.

Re: Price rise is over

After the halving, price will DROP, not rise. Why? Simple answer is because the market is heavily manipulated, they know most people expect price to go up, so by dropping the price they can profit.

We will see a rise in price to maybe 900-999, in December 2016, it will crash in rapid fashion down to 200-300 in January 2017.

I would be fine with this scenario. I just want volatility.

Re: Why I never use indicators when I trade bitcoin
by

The author is not completely wrong. Most basic indicators like MACD, RSI, MA crosses,... are worthless.
Just try to implement them in a "dumb" and emotionless algorithm and backtest them on historical data (code the algo to buy when RSI<20 and sell when RSI>80 for example) : you will get terrible results, whatever the timeframe and the input parameters. Even when they achieve decent (theoretical) profits, it's just curve fitting. Also, when someone tells you to buy because MACD moves this way or Fisher transform is doing that, just ask them what parameters they are using and why they chose these parameters. They won't be able to provide a logical answer. Most of the time they just use the "default" parameters, whatever that means  Grin

That being said, there are some good performing indicators (mostly oscillators). Especially when they are improved with numerical tricks, they can yield significant profits.

soon eth blockchain will reach critical mass and collapses into a blackhole

Earth is done guys

Meanwhile, still not a single eth dapp 10 months after launch ahahahahaha.

But...it's all theorical John !

Isn't there an Ethereum Dapp that unlocks a lock with the Ethereum computer ?
Because, you know, a key is too simple and we need a blockchain solution Cool

Re: Ethereum scammers trying to suppress BTC till they find someone to Dump Eth on
by

This shit cracks me up, how someone has the time to shit talk ETH. Watch it go to $60, the DAO just got a put on the frontpage of the New York Times print edition this Sunday. ETH has essentially replaced Bitcoin. Miners already switching, ETH has more nodes, Coinbase adding ETH trading, Gemini already did, Okcoin rumors, i could go on and on. What do we have in Bitcoin? still talking it's problems, blocksize debate, nothing happens, news controlled by Theymos.

Have you read this article ? It's actually pretty bad publicity for the DAO.
A couple quotes :

DAO investors are dumb :
Quote
For these investors, in some sense it is the digital equivalent of buying into a bakery with no baker, no menu and no assurance that the ovens will even be delivered.

People who will have to make sound investment decisions (usually made by professionals irl) are just normal people with not much spare time or financial wisdom :
Quote
The investing decisions are to be made through online polling of shareholders like Mr. Stern, who has a day job dealing with parking policy in the town of Montreuil, just outside Paris.

Clash with reality :
Quote
Patrick Murck, a lawyer who has long dealt with Bitcoin issues, said that even if Mr. Jentzsch and his collaborators were not operating the venture, they could face legal liability for promoting it if the investments go awry — and, potentially, even if they don’t.
Quote
"You can’t code away your legal responsibilities,” said Mr. Murck, who is a fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard. “This is something that has been tried before and has failed before.
Quote
“My opinion is that the D.A.O. will be D.O.A. (Dead on Arrival),” Daniel Larimer, the founder of BitShares, wrote. “The theory of jointly deciding to fund efforts will face the reality of individual self-interest, politics and economics.”
Pretty much what every sane person is thinking.

Not enough testing :
Quote
“It’s an unstable thing right now,” said Joseph Lubin, who was one of the founders of Ethereum. “Young, complex machines tend to have flaws and vulnerabilities that you can’t anticipate.”
Quote
“If I would have known the size it has grown to, maybe the tester in me would say, ‘I need more testing,’” he said. “This is very risky. It’s all new land.”

I mean, there is really nothing positive in that article. You can read "scam" between the lines.
