Re: Stay at day job (work or school) if suddenly filthy rich from Bitcoin?

There's no way I would get bored if I had all my time to myself.

I'd focus on my hobbies 100% of the time.

Does anyone here get paid in Bitcoin?

I've been offered some freelance work (online marketing, google adwords, split testing etc) to be paid in bitcoin.

Does anyone here have experience with this? Do you sell the btc as soon as you receive it to pay for your rent, food etc. How do you deal with taxes? Would I have to pay capital gains tax and income tax?

Particularly interested in experiences in the UK.

So how many bitcoin do I need to own in order to be able to quit my job within the next 6 - 12 months?

I don't care about big houses, flash clothes or fancy cars, I just want a roof over my head, food on the table and all my free time to focus on music!

3. As far as I know the last BTC won't be mined until the 22nd century. If you think how much the world has changed in the last 100 - 200 years, I reckon humanity will (hopefully) moved on to other concerns by then.

I run a website called GuitarTheoryRevolution.info and have an e-course for sale which is... all about music theory for guitar players!

Check out the regular sales page here (price USD$47 + local taxes)

http://www.guitartheoryrevolution.info/blog/guitar-music-theory-for-beginners-cb/

Or go here to pay the equivalent of $20 in BTC (so more than a 50% discount)

Scroll down for the Bitcoin payment button.

Any questions about the course, just let me know.

Could mainstream banking team up with a different alt-coin?

I've been thinking about different scenarios under which btc could 'fail'.

One of them is if a different alt-coin becomes more popular than btc.

What if banks decide that it's too late for them to get in on btc but decide to work together with another alt-coin and develop technology to get their existing userbase on board quickly.

Do you guys think this is possible?

Introduction

Hey guys,

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and decided to register today.

I first heard about Bitcoin when it was $5 and it seemed really interesting but for the fact that the one guy who was crowing about it the most is a confirmed fraudster. Anyway I forgot about btc until it started making the news because of the price gains.

So I finally started investing in some btc, too bad I didn't get in earlier but I think a lot of people share that sentiment.

Btc interests me for two reasons, personal gain and societal change. I run a small online business which will hopefully help me with the former. I don't know how I can contribute to the latter just yet, but maybe I'll figure something out.

Hopefully I can learn more about btc and and contribute to the forum and the btc economy and community.
