What they had was a strong guy in charge who could make absolutely sure the development of the company's idea followed the vision. They are highly successful becasue of it.
Bitcoin does not have it.
There is a large group of different people all with different ideas on how to carry out the vision, and no-one to ensure a consistent focus. Running a large-scale operation does not work using consensus. Instead it always leads to disagreement and a failure of the project. So it will be with Bitcoin where the recent civil wars with alt coins is only the beginning.

This is a good point but the currency is popular because it is decentralized and not led by one person. The free market allows for competition and allows people to create new coins. The best coins will win in the long run. Have to let the market play out.
As being new to the crypto currency world. I like to know how do you cash you your money?
such as taking your crypto and taking it out into real money?

You could use an exchange like Kraken to convert BTC to USD. Coinbase works too.
But I think Bitcoin is going to help those technologies along.
