noticed that as well... All of the 19K Pro's I sourced from you guys back in late 2023/early 2024 shipped with AMLogic boards - all of the S19's I've grabbed recently have shipped with the CV control board.

I'd agree with what some of the others have said here - my gut-feeling is that it all boils down to cost.

which vendor did you purchase from?

the Chinese new year, undoubtedly, did hold things up but that shouldn't be an issue at this point - I'd imagine they're all back to work and as such orders should be dispatched regularly.

I have to agree with Fuzzy. Not sure why there is an assumption that those who, may potentially, wield said computational resources would just automatically try to "kill bitcoin"?

BTC has grown, exponentially, without a doubt. That doesn't mean that a company, to the likes of Google, would want to hinder it's evolution.

Interesting.... the large heatsink on teh 276mm board is the 120T.

I've only had 6-7 of those particular variants and actually yes - 1 of them DID ship with 2 faulty hashboards (only detecting 35 and 49 chips of the 77) rendering the machine inoperable. I only had 1 of DOZENS of the 115T (individually pasted heatsinks on the 266mm board) that shipped DOA.

Yeaaaa as an individual who mines for a living - this is just crap journalism. If they can show me the profits - I’ll rethink this but I’m willing to bet that it’s just not possible in the given time frame with residential power limitations…. As you have all said, 15A breakers (even at 208-240V) aren’t going to power enough hardware to generate that amount of BTC. kHeavyHash and Blake3 altcoin miners are the most profitable regarding electricity OUT/coins IN (in USD values) and even so - the Blake3 machine that could potentially do this isn’t shipping yet and costs a whopping 32K USD (so in reality - let’s just entertain that for a moment…. That would mean they had to mine nearly $500K USD to ROI and claim 100K of profit).

I do not doubt that there are people out there attempting this sort of thing - utilizing airBNB/motels for free electricity but like some of you have mentioned - the labor involved coupled with the risk due to variance in solo mining (as a sort of turn-key portable mining op would require for actual profitability) would make anyone with half a brain see that this is NOT feasible lol.

Not sure why someone went ahead to publish this - either those who did it were trying to impress someone and grossly exaggerated everything, they themselves utilize airBNB to rent their own properties and someone did something like this - this they are trying to indirectly give miners a bad name, or the third option - attention-craving / boredom perhaps?

Anyway - if anyone sees this headline and thinks “what a fantastic idea!” - think again. Attempting this is a monumental waste of time.

Curious… which variant of the 19K Pro are we talking about here? I’ve had about 60
Of the 115T variant miners come through my shop - 30 for personal use, 25 for resale, 5 to tear down to make single board setups. Now granted I’ve not overclocked any of them (actually underclocked and undervolted them with ePIC controllers slightly to get them closer to 20.5-21 j/TH - but I only had 1 fail which was DOA (middle hashboard only detected 44 chips during initialization and the machine would just power itself back down). All of the other ones have been fine.

More recently I’ve been getting the 120T variant which has a larger hashboard and different cooling solution outfitted to the boards (much larger, single heatsink that is bolted on as opposed to the pasted on single chip sinks found on the 115T boards). Is it one model or the other you guys have experienced high failure rates with? Or all of them?

Pursue mining, she’s been super enthusiastic about it even though no matter how many times I’ve explained it, she really only half gets it. She’s wanted something for her home that is quiet, no frills, and easy to use that she can show her friends - this checks all the boxes imo!

Not surprised! Looking at the silhouette-illustrations of the internals on the BRAIINS site, I was thinking about how strikingly similar it looks to the QAxe lmao. With the advertised power figures and output, it falls in line, precisely, with my 2 A1's running at 494 MHZ / 315 mV). Plus - its utilizing the BCB100 which is their Bitmain controller lol.

Got these guys today - super stoked!

no no I understand that - but thats the point I was trying to make... its a very common practice to use 2P breakers. Just figured I'd mention it as most of us know, electricity is NOT to be trifled with. For the amount of money he wants to spend it just seemed like maybe not a bad idea from the safety perspective. Wasn't trying to say he should use larger asics.

FWIW: I love the single board setups - bought 2 pre-fabbed from Altair and built 3 (19K Pro boards). If I had a spare XP lying around I'd have done the same (inspired by your other post) lol.

are you sure you're working with single phase 120V? Not sure how you'd make a stove/dryer work with that... In the USA - most homes have higher voltage (480V seems to be the standard in my area) coming from the lines which is then run through a transformer which gives you the secondary voltage (usually 208/120 or 240/120).

FWIW: I bank with TD Bank (in the USA - not Canada) - and I've got to say.... they are the easiest bank I've, personally, dealt with. I had a similar experience with both Chase Bank AND Bank of America - so I politely requested my account be closed at both institutions and I took my business elsewhere (in this case - Toronto Dominion Bank of North America).

If your bank is employing those sorts of practices - I'd just move elsewhere. I'm sure there is a bank in your area (can also look into Credit Unions) that will not hinder your ability to buy Bitcoin!
