Re: Question about cheap coins under 1$ need to ask how to make profit
by
CoinCollector006
on 03/01/2025, 03:53:32 UTC
So is that logic works ?
You buy any coin under 1$ like price 0.00003$ and you wait just when it's 1$ you sell cash out profits and move on next cheap coins and invest and sell again.
The problem is i been doing that many coins we been told that If we buy cheap then we sell higher price but it don't work i been buying and waiting price just not going up ?
So is that method works anymore ? Why we don't see that coins not going higher ? Usually how long we should wait ?

You’re trying to buy a winning lottery ticket. What you are doing is risky & has a low winning ratio. It’s far better to buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana or any other top 200 coin & continue to DCA. It’s not as exciting & might not make you 1,000,000 x gains but you are far more likely to make good profits this way than looking for the golden egg.

This is sound advice. i started investing in crypto in 2017 to 2018 and back then bought BTC, Ethereum Stellar Lumens, Monero that were leading coins back then and remain leading coins today in 2024. I also bought some unknown coins priced at fractions of a penny such as LiteDoge, Xtrabytes, Digibyte, etc that all went to zero or near zero. If you want to gamble with a small cap coin priced at less than 1 cent like Shiba Inu go ahead just size it small because the vast majority of small meme coins go to zero because they have no use case and no adoption by the crypto community.

Also many traders use technical analysis techniques from the worlds of stocks and FX. Thats fine but if the coin is a pump and dump scam technical analysis will not save you from losses as the coin bleeds or just crashes to lower lows taking you down with it. There is no substitute for getting into the weeds and understanding the coin's technology, team, financial resources (if any) and whether it offers something unique

My suggestion is that you allocate a percentage to alt coins which you feel have potential (perhaps 30%) and the rest invest in major coins from this list Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, LiteCoin, Monero, ETH Classic, Ether  . I have not been active for several years but did buy just over 1100 shares of ETC in the $6 range. Any alt coins go to zero so buyer beware.

I invested half of my  saving ($25,000)  into ETH when it was $725. ETH has now plunged to $459. I am very worried I will keep losing money and I fear for the worst.  I want to go kill myself   Huh

No trading loss is worth sacrificing your life, if you get stressed out over a trading loss it probably means that you invested too much in crypto versus your total net worth.
You have two options:

1) Hold and hope that crypto rises again someday. Its an open question whether it will, perhaps the parabolic move from 2017 was a fluke.

2) Sell out and take your losses, this is painful but may be necessary so that you can sleep normally again. At least in the USA you will benefit from a tax loss carry forward which will help shield future profits from paying taxes.

My advices  calm down, try your best not to stress and in the future make sure that your bets aren't so large that they stress you out and lead you to contemplate suicidal thoughts.

Life is precious, think how your parents, brothers, sisters, wife, and mistress would feel if you killed yourself, all because you lost money on a speculative bet in a high risk asset class.

Bitcoin has a history of large drawdowns in the 40% to 90% range. Please see the attached link with the history of drawdowns since 2010.
https://mynabla.com/2018/01/22/breaking-down-bitcoin-drawdowns/

Some of the investors on this forum may be used to treasury bills, corporate bonds, balanced equity funds from Vanguard and other sleepy investments whereas Bitcoin is one of the most volatile investments imaginable.  I think part of the problem is that investors don't appreciate how volatile it is.

My advice to everyone is manage your risk and don't bet more than you can afford to lose.

I wanted to add some facts to this discussion regarding future BTC price evolution. Please see the attached graph. https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/bitcoin-transactions.html

As we look at the history of BTC prices three has been a close correspondence between transaction volume and price. Recently BTC prices have headed down in line with decreasing transaction volumes. Transaction volume seems to be flatlining at current levels.

Bottom line we need volumes to pick up in order for the market value of BTC to increase, this is predictable based on the pricing relationship defined by Metcalfe's law where the network value is proportional to the number of users squared. Hopefully, Lightning network leads to large number of micropayment transactions and this serves as a catalyst to drive prices back up and reward the HODLers that have had faith in the asset.

There are several drivers that explain why prices are declining

1. Its tax season in the USA, some people will doubtless liquidate crypto holdings to pay their tax obligations

2. There has been a whale selling the Mt Cox trustee bitcoins
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03-07/bitcoins-tokyo-whale-sells-400m-bitcoin-bitcoin-cash

3. There is still na tremdndous amount of FUD
http://fortune.com/2018/03/06/bitcoin-price-10-years-harvard-kenneth-rogoff/

I personally think people like Professor Rogoff have a stake in the current fiat money printing system and therefore will attempt to destroy bitcoin.
I am still holding my bitcoins, and don't want to be shaken out no matter what the pessimists say.

Re: DO YOU BUY WHEN THE PRICE DROPS SHARPLY ?
by
CoinCollector006
on 01/03/2018, 05:54:03 UTC
Good day, mates.

My strategy is to buy coins when the price drops sharply.

Sometimes I fail, because the price drops more than I expected.

But, to prevent this worse situation, I put 30% of my budget at the time of initial investment.
If the price getting down again, I put 30% more.

With this strategy, I am getting some money so far.

In conclusion, I recommend you guys to buy coins when they drops rapidly.
After sharp drop, there should be sharp rising.  Cool
A very good strategy but it is not recommended that you should buy when price is at the stage of dumping as the coins may find it very difficult to recover after that and you may still even end the last 30% at loses.I always advice traders to trade using the technical analysis and candlestick chart patterns as this is more accurate than any other strategies.

Yes, I buy coins when they are going down but its a very dangerous strategy to implement. Buying falling knives can lead to disastrous losses if the asset you are buying continues falling. Many people have gone bankrupt buying falling knives for the following reasons.

1. Their emotions overpower them and they sell out of their shares or coins due to panic selling at the worst possible time.
2. They used leverage and they were forced to sell their shares or their coins by their friendly broker.
3. They have unanticipated bills due to medical expense, auto repair expenses, tuition for  child, etc and need to liquidate assets to pay the obligation

Re: How Much Should You Invest in Bitcoin?
by
CoinCollector006
on 24/02/2018, 14:42:28 UTC
The question of how much to invest depends on many factors:

1. how much liquid wealth you have in the form of stocks bonds and cash
2. whether you own a home
3. whether you have a stable income from a job
4. risk tolerance of the investor and emotional makeup

Lets make some assumptions for investor A
1. $100K portfolio of which $40K is stocks, $20K bonds and $40K in cash
2. $85K in home equity
3. stable job at a utility company, earns $40K a year

I would argue Investor A could invest 5% to 10% of his liquid wealth into crypto and not worry too much about the 100% annualized volatility or $5,000 to $10,000.

Now investor B has an the same wealth, but double the income at $80K. Arguably this investor can replace losses faster so they can invest at least 5% more than investor A.

Hello, I am trying to find a Novacoin blockchain developer to make a wallet enhancement on a Novacoin clone project I am working on. We are trying to reduce the staking rate on our coin. Our team can pay a bounty and we could also help the NovaCoin team in other areas where our dev team is strong. We don't have any other way to reach NovaCoin dev team members so my apologies in advance for the off topic nature of my post. If interested, please contact me by PM.

Re: Market to ath again
by
CoinCollector006
on 16/02/2018, 05:44:45 UTC
I think some of the air has been let out of the crypto bubble so it will take some time to reach ATHs again, investors are a bit more rational and some of the worst speculative excesses like buying bitcoins on credit cards have diminished. That said I feel the days of 100x gains in a coin over 6 weeks are much less likely to come to pass.

I think now the game is for large institutional investors to jump onboard the blockchains with the strongest technology platforms for long horizons and for smaller investors to identify failing blockchains with potential and engage in activism to realize the value of the platforms. Indeed I have done so.

⭐ Merited by Toxic2040 (1)
I have mentioned this in other threads Crypto is like venture capital, very volatile snd some of the coin can be expected to produce geometric returns and others can be expected to fall to zero. In between there will be massive volatility.

Given the high volatility and possibility of unforeseen events like exchange hacks or exchange bankruptcies, it feel its important to diversify across the number of coins (>30 if possible), number of exchanges, number of wallets (some at exchanges, some hardware wallets) and allocation to different consensus methodologies (e.g. not invest all the capital in PoW coins). This is particularly important if the investor has a large portfolio either in absolute dollar terms or as a percentage of his or her net worth.

In terms of when to exit, i think the time frame should be dictated by required spending. If you need the capital to purchase a house or pay for retirement expenses then so be it. But other words I feel buy and hold is a good strategy and this will tend to be tax efficient.

i have tried staking for a week and i have nothing. i deleted the old wallet and downloaded a new one, and copied the new codes into into conf file. yet it keeps saying no suitable input found. every once in awhile, it might find one that last for an hr then it reverts back to no suitable input found

Many of us current investors are mining without any issues and find the wallet to be robust.

If you join the Discord server we can help you there. Here are some trouble shooting steps for wallet sync and mining issues

1. Close and restart the wallet as a first step to attempt to trouble shoot. Make sure you select "unlock wallet for mining".

2. The next step in case #1 does not resolve the issue, Increase the number of nodes connecting to the wallet. A user can add nodes to the Droxne.conf file which is found with the query string %appdata% on MS Windows in the Roaming/Droxne folder. The most to date nodes are located at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2049978.msg26993655#msg26993655.

3. Download a fresh blockchain and resync. Make a copy of your wallet.dat file from your existing wallet which is unable to sync and start with a fresh wallet from the github website at https://github.com/droxdev/Wallet-Droxne. Make sure you copy all files including the three dynamic linked libraries (dlls). Copy and paste your original wallet.dat file into the new wallet application Droxne folder. Allow time for the blockchain to resync.

Hi,

have discovered by chance DROXNE
As an old video gamer you have to support something like that.

So I bought some  Smiley

Wish success and I'm curious how everything develops.

Thank you for the support! Now that the dev team has expanded in size, we are on the 5th draft of our white paper,  the ecosystem website remains under development and we will be creating a LinkedIn account to help reach a professional audience of crypto enthusiasts. Game development continues behind the scenes.

Scamming is part of life as an investor, look at penny stocks and even established stocks like Enron which turned out to be a giant fraud scheme. I think with crypto there are several markers that you can use as guidelines 1) Does the team have a well thought out white paper? 2) What is the valuation of the coin compared with similar coins, 3) Do they have any product or use case beyond speculation? 4) Does the team make outlandish promises of returns that are not credible? 5) What is the GitHub status and when was the last commit? Or is there no GitHub account? That is a giant red flag if that is the case.

Re: What Did You do Wrong
by

on 02/02/2018, 06:06:07 UTC
The mistake that i hear over and over again on this forum is that investors commiserate that their position sizing has been too small on their trades. One story that I heard about was an investor that put in $200 into Bitcoin back when it was at $60 and bought only 3 coins. If that bet had been $3000 it could have been life changing money. I had the same problem with NEO, predicted correctly that it would go up and bought it, but did so with a smallish position size. We all make mistakes and its great if we can learn from them.

I am holding. This is strange, supposedly Bitcoin is crashing because India will ban Bitcoin. But India is a tiny player in Crypto. The big countries are Japan, US and Korea. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-02-01/india-officially-declares-bitcoin-not-legal-tender-or-coin(edited).

Here is the data where you can confirm that India is a small player and investors are misinterpreting the impact. The Rupee is not even 1% of trade volume, this is clearly FUD that is driving the price down   https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/btc/analysis/USD(
