wallet agreed.
without being critical, and I admire the work already done on this coin and the volunteers who step in to save the coin,
I think a development community would grow with some exposure on:
https://openhatch.org/
https://www.openhub.net/
https://www.codeplex.com/
setting up aeon on those sites would draw community help especially from developers who might not know about aeon.

and a transparent marketing plan with transparent donations by the community would go along way. Cryptos and Opensource underestimate the importance of marketing.

A perfect coin would need no marketing and an utter junk coin is 100% marketing.

So a person has to decide where a coin fits on that continuum to determine how important marketing is.

When a person looks at cryptonote generally they see a coin that cannot be used for transactions requiring some sort of easy public confirmation, in other words cryptonote is not useful for most transactions.

So marketing has either to be directed to the drug dealer / child pornographer / hitman niche or the coin has to be adapted so it can be used by other groups.

So...there is a bit of activity in the market. A few buyers around, but, ....

All I was saying is it takes more than just keeping a coin alive, and I was prepared to do my part in a concerted effort, but smooth is with out doubt light years ahead of me, so it is a big plus he is helping.

Everyone is invited to contribute!

The only way this coin stays alive without someone investing money into it (which apparently didn't work) is the community pulling together.

For example, I could use someone to build Windows and Mac binaries. Not really my thing (I'm 100% Linux).

CryptoNote coins have been through a bit of a pounding in the last little while, so it would be great to see this happen

Agree. Enough infighting!

Still waiting for a node, any node...

There is a person who was making a new cryptonote wallet for monetaverde https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=657820.msg8939469#msg8939469
He was looking for others to work with.

The big flaws with cryptonote involve flaws in the user interface, it needs an attractive wallet and a way to appeal to people other than drug dealers, i.e., it needs to be useful for mainstream transactions.

One solution, and I don't know if this is possible, is to have two algorithyms in the wallet, cryptonote and another, perhaps bitcoin or whatever. A person could choose which algo to use but only that part of the economy transacted in the visible currency would be public. This would give the coin an edge over other anonymous currencies and add some credibility to cryptonote which it is lacking. As I say, I don't know anything about coding or scripts or anything like that but a project like selective anonymity, if it could be figured out between the various people would skyrocket the coin.

Good to see that community is taking over.

There was no offer made yet, so we had to shut down the seed node to prevent additional costs.

Once community decides who will lead the development we're willing to give github access as well as other resources. It would be nice though, to get back at least part of money we invested. Partner negotiations for backing up the coin wasn't successful for us, but we hope that community will find ways how to push value of this coin up.

Good luck!

It is not necessary that you abandon the coin if a new dev takes over. You have the experience of originating the coin, maybe switch from main dev to part time junior dev. If you still own aeon and want the price to increase it would benefit if you remained as advisor to whoever is responsible.
