It seems to me on the contrary, if the rates can be done absolutely for everything, both for sports and for cyber sport, then the project will gain popularity. After all, it is much more convenient to carry out all bets in one place.
You are right! RACE protocol can be adjusted to any type of bets. And currently we implemented betting on crypto coins/tokens. I can see that you have 12 coins represented as cars on Coinrace. What about other cryptocurrencies, are you going to support more coins / ERC20 tokens?
we are planning to create a Race Builder so the community will be able to add new coins/tokens and even races with different presets. On you landing there is a button Play on Ropsten as I anderstand this means that I can try a beta version of your app on Rosten testnet, right? 
Yes, that's right! You can get some Ropsten ETH here MetaMask facet.We are going to redeploy ropsten dapp tomorrow to launch updated version of game contracts, because we constantly improve them.
