Hello Hydrogen, too bad, maybe these laws will change in the future.  CoinRoster is currently offering a free entry on its bitcoin fantasy sports site in the link below.  Users can play at their own discretion.

www.coinroster.com/promo/bt2018

Thanks

Wish I could participate in fantasy sports.

Unfortunately, they are illegalized in a number of US states and I happen to live in one of them.

This is the US states where they are illegal: Arizona, Alabama, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Texas and Washington state.

A case might be made for fantasy sports games being "skilled-based" and not falling under the definition of gambling. Unfortunately, there appears to be a very strange process in place determining how state governments create regulations which affect these types of things.

Two Daily Fantasy Sports sites that accept bitcoin. They are relatively new. There may be more. The above sites have threads with their respective representatives here in the gambling section somewhere.

Fantasy Sports and Daily Fantasy sports is a billion dollar industry in the US. And the US and its states have been cracking down on US facing daily fantasy sports sites lately so hopefully bitcoin fantasy sports can catch on in the states. Would be good.

Both of those sites appear dead. It surprises me that there aren't more btc fantasy sports sites. Their business model doesn't depend on house advantage or players losing consistently. One might think that would be preferable to setting up a gambling site that relies on the house winning to turn a profit. I wonder what the issue is.

Fanduel and draftkings appear to be doing ok. Is there an intrinsic reason btc based fantasy sports couldn't emulate their success?

Maybe there just isn't enough interest in that? Keep in mind that fantasy sports is mostly an American thing and online gambling is illegal in most of the US.
That would definitely explain why there isn't huge interest for it.

Now that said, I would certainly welcome it, if an existing trusted gambling provider would also host fantasy sports competitions.

Thanks for joining the thread.   Feel free to try out the site with 0.0001 bitcoin  www.coinroster.com/promo/bt2018  Any feedback or suggestions is welcomed.

Thanks for the thread, and the tips, this has been on my mind for quite a long time too. Fantasy sports is really a huge industry mainly in the US, it makes sense to make it crypto-related too.

Thanks for your reply, it is just the blog/faq side that is running on wordpress.  We actually just launched new updates this week that include:

multi stat fantasy contests for PGA, MLB, NBA and NHL.  Also, we now offer users the ability to create their own private and public contests which we are pretty excited about.  Were you able to use the promo code and try out the site?  Any more feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the link again if needed:    www.coinroster.com/promo/bt2018

Thanks

I think the traffic to the CoinRoster Bitcoin Fantasy Sports website is very low, because there are only few games open/in-play shown on the front page and looks like they only support American Sports and a bunch of prop bets and Bitcoin futures. No soccer unfortunately. Is the site really running on WordPress or is it just the blog/faq side of it? Because if the main site is really running on WordPress that's pretty impressive.

***Update:  Now users can create their own contests! CoinRoster now offers public and private user generated contests.

CoinRoster Bitcoin Fantasy Sports has MLB,NBA,PGA and NHL fantasy drafts and pari-mutuel betting.    Below is a link for .0001 free bitcoin to try out the site.  Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Thanks!

So users can't create contests themselves right? It would be cool if we could create our own contests instead of playing only the pregenerated contests which offer a very limited choice anyways.

I have yet to see a Daily Fantasy Sports service that accepts BTC.  Do you think that there's a market for it?

I think it would be a nice addition for people who like sports and Bitcoin skill games.

Update:   CoinRoster has been running PGA Golf Fantasy Tournaments every week.  Player prices are posted every Monday and contests can be entered before the Tournament starts on Thursday morning.  There is also a progressive pari mutuel pool for low score in each of the 4 rounds in a PGA event.  The prize pool carries over to the next Tournament if the correct outcome is not chosen.

Pari mutuel is an open market contest where the odds are formed based on the proportion of money placed on each outcome. Odds fluctuate as bets are placed on the various outcomes. The final odds are determined when the last bet is placed before the contest starts.

CoinRoster also has MLB Fantasy for "most hits" and is currently working on multi stat Fantasy MLB.

Any feedback or suggestions for the site?

Such a large amount bonus well let see if this is legit i just make an account just now and test.
How looks like the site still low amount of games.. and i think you must add more sports and if the site still a beta test better to hire someone in services section to find a bug and start a campaign once you done adding a lot of sports ..
any update on this? Cheesy

All the pools are pari-mutuel pools, so the payoffs are based on how much is wagered on each outcome, and the displayed odds change as bets occur. The odds simply display the current odds, the final odds are determined when the pool closes.  Here is a link to a wiki on pari-mutuel betting  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parimutuel_betting
Ok, i understand now, it's just i have never heard about such betting.
Anyway, when will you place more events to bet?
I am waiting for whole day and nothing is up and I raised my free money to 0.14BTC...i need to wager it lol

We are currently working on bringing more content to the site. We are in the process of developing a better daily baseball game that includes multi-stats such as different points for RBI, Walks, Hits, Runs, and Strikeouts. Currently there is a simple daily baseball fantasy game posted that is based on hits and there is also a daily pool on which baseball player gets the most hits each day. If you are simply trying to run thru your freeplay, play the baseball game each day until you meet your betting requirement.

Thanks for your feedback.  We will consider that option.

My only problem with these new sites is the need for registration so we can actually try it out. I know this is normal in gambling sites using fiat, but I still enjoy the hassle free testing/playing option that sites using crypto normally offer. I know it's not that hard to just create a new email or something like that, but it would be a lot easier if sites just offered the option to try out the product with no registration, or with a simply password/username registration.

Will you ever consider giving that option?

Thanks for your feedback Joel, If you would like to try the site for free see the link below.  Let us know what you think of the site and if you have any suggestions for improvement.

https://www.coinroster.com/promo/bt2018  for 0.0001 BTC

This is why they do the introductory offer to test the system out some I guess, seems fair even the biggest companies need revisions to a system to refine it.    I'm able to sign and be in the account but also I'm waiting for the confirmation email to arrive so I can confirm my balance and the bonus is there or not.    Maybe it doesnt like my address, I'll try another one shortly if no joy
The testing should ideally be done before the website goes live. If website is live and one of the customers makes a huge win through a bug, it could be a potential loss for the website or the customer the other way around. It's a common ideology to stress test your servers and do end-end testing before shit goes live especially when you're going to be dealing with someone else's money.

Thanks for your reply, the promo link is working now.  Feel free to try it out and let us know what you think of the site.  You can enter the micro PGA fantasy pool this week.

a fantastic offer!
if only it was possible to register and take advantage of it....

https://i.imgur.com/q2kQL8hh.jpg

the problem is that it doesn't allow you to register-you get this nasty undefined popup
do you have restrictions in place? like some countries cannot participate?
Lmao, please post that screenshot in r/ProgrammingHumor. This is the problem why these low tier gambling sites are not to be taken seriously. Product is either coded by someone sitting in the middle east with no solid programming skills or bought as script and built over a HTML template. There is no testing, no security testing, and is released in the broken way as it is. Nope 'undefined' is not a country restriction error, it is a JavaScript bug.

Just tried using the code and seems to work, dumped it all on the low score pool for round 1 this week

I had the same thought as I am a huge fan of fantasy basketball, but I only play on ESPN with friends. Anyone has experience about the mentioned sites? How fair, trustworthy, how many players etc? Is it worth registrating?

Thanks for your feedback, it is a small entry fee but it does give the user a chance to try out the site.  Currently the odds on some of the players in the US Open Winner Pot are over 2500:1.  It is possible to earn over $75 on a 3 cent bet.  The tournament starts Thursday June 14th if you want to place a free bet on the winner or try out the micro fantasy draft.  Any more feedback is greatly appreciated

you can try nolimitcoin,it designed specifically to power fantasy sports:
https://nolimitcoin.org/
one them coins that might be on to something, almost 12 mil $ capitalisation
you can bet fantasy sports using this coin here, for example:
https://www.cryptofantasysports.com/

as for the more conventional fantasy sports crypto betting try this site:
http://www.bitcoinfantasysports.net/

I placed bet on tie with odds 7. Today i saw odds has dropped to 4.64 so is my winning amount.
My I ask why?
Why do you change odds AFTER bet has been placed? You can't do that  Angry
Where can I find my payed ticket?

Getting the same issue, I placed a bet with odds 1.34 IIRC and now the odds dropped down to 1.29 and my bet also changed to 1.29
Changing odds after the bet has been placed after few days is so ridiculous. Anyway you can find your ticket at the menu "My Contest" then click "My Wager"
I know that but i can't see on which odds i placed bet, i can only see current odds.

As you have said, they changed the odds of all bets based on the current odds. If what we think is true then there is no ways to see the first odds when we placed the bet as it will always change. Wondering...will they change  the odds of all placed bets even if the events start or on going? Just FYI my bet's odds is changing again, from 1.34 then 1.29 and now it is 1.3.

Thanks to everyone who has signed up and provided feedback from this thread Smiley  We've had a lot of new users join over the past few days and we've received a lot of good suggestions. We've had more new users sign-up than we anticipated, so we're ending our current BitcoinTalk free play promotion. If you've already signed up using the BitcoinTalk code, it will be honored, good luck!  Anyone who signs up using this code going forward will not be eligible for any free play.

We will evaluate our progress after this week's golf contests (John Deere & Scottish Open). If you have suggestions on what our new free play promotion should be, please let us know by replying to this thread.  We still offer a 100% MATCH ON YOUR FIRST DEPOSIT  www.coinroster.com

Sounds good deal with free play of golf. But can you make it clear how much fair the game is to earn me 20X the amount of free play? How much time will it take for me to earn that much amount. With your free play bonus which is BTC 0.05 it would be 1 BTC and that is huge money, which is not possible with just free play. Please elaborate. I would be happy to play.

Thanks for your input. We are simply offering free play as a way to encourage new users to try CoinRoster and give us feedback, your chances of reaching the playing requirement of 20x 0.05 btc depends on the strategies you take. Its possible to be left with some bitcoins after you meet the rollover requirement, but only if you are a winning player and you mind the size of your bankroll.

In terms of the fairness of the fantasy games, CoinRoster shows the number of times each player has been drafted before the contest begins, so every user has the same information. Once a contest goes "in-play" we reveal everyone's rosters in a leaderboard, and post scores as they occur, so everyone can watch the contest result unfold.  For pari-mutuel pools, all the information is posted to the games, and the odds and amounts wagered are displayed in real time, so everyone is on equal footing.
