Re: Coinapult.com Alleged Raffle Scam

So here's the Story

Coinapult held a huge holiday raffle as advertised here: https://medium.com/@Coinapult/chance-to-win-500-cash-with-the-2015-coinapult-holiday-giveaway-80ac9b51d96

However, some users including me started to question their raffle after it was supposed to be over.

after postponing the giveaway payout several times (for whatever reason) this https://twitter.com/Coinapult/status/688377112185589760 is the last tweet they send out.

"@MyceliumCom @1122Dumbo Its been a very busy time for us, especially in the last few days. Payments are going out this weekend."

needless to say that they lied yet again.

HI there, Coinapult here. We are indeed sending out payments to all winners today.

Re: Dubai is on the map - for Bitcoin

Isn't there already an exchange available for trade in Dubai/UAE?

http://www.coindesk.com/uae-first-bitcoin-exchange-dubai/

https://www.igot.com/

Also, what does Coinapult and Bitreserve have to do with Dubai?

Hi ChuckBuck, Coinapult's co-founders Erik Voorhees and Ira Miller were asked to speak at the Dubai Bitcoin Conference so that is how we came to be involved in the event. More generally though, all of our Bitcoin services are available in Dubai so we hope that people will find value in our products. In fact, our Bitcoin by SMS may be particularly useful considering about 90% of the population are migrant workers.

Re: What Does Bitcoin Need?
by
Coinapult

What it also needs:

1) Less volatility.  If you want Grandma and Grampa to adopt it or Average Joe.  They are not going to transfer their funds to Bitcoin from CHQ/SAV and look at the ticker every hour and worry about losing on a dump.
2) More consumers.  Getting merchants means nothing at this point now.  We have major companies accepting but nobody spending.
3) Ease of use.
4) Make it worth while and advantageous compared to Fiat or CC.  Offer discounts... rewards.  Otherwise they ain't switching.

Start there.

We completely agree. That's why we developed 'Locks' to help more of the general public into Bitcoin

Locks lets you tie your Bitcoins to a range of currencies and assets to overcome the problem of Bitcoin's price swings.
Charities using Locks can now get maximum monetary benefit from donations.

Re: Bitcoin for remittances?

Hi countryfree,
We charge no fees to use our SMS service and we pay all transaction fees, except for Locks transactions for which the standard spread of 1.5% is applied (yes, you can Lock by txt)

However, your mobile phone provider may charge you standard txt msg rates, depending on your contract.
Our SMS service is currently operating from Canada. Therefore, within Canada the service will be treated as a local txt message rate. Elsewhere it will require international text messaging fees, which you will need to check your mobile phone provider for.
For this reason we are working hard to add local phone numbers in a number of markets.

Coming very soon: England, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden.

I hope this helps and thank you for considering our service.

Sorry birr,
We are unable to serve the U.S across all of our products as we haven't been able to find a safe path for customers through the regulatory minefield there.
We hope to be able to serve the U.S in the future, just as soon as we achieve clarity about our position. In the meantime, thank you for considering us.

And what happens at the other side, say I send BTC to someone, and that someone doesn't knows much/none about bitcoin. Do they get their wallet made linked to their phone number as soon as they receive bitcoin?

They automatically have an account generated for them and are ready to start transacting immediately. The SMS wallet is integrated into our website and vice-versa, so people with internet access will graduate to the full bitcoin experience.

never occurred to me. it was great your idea. can not wait to use it. however, how the provider is used.
Can for the whole world or a particular country.
then how much it costs for each transaction.

Hi Nerazzura,

Glad you like it! We are excited to see how it will be used.

The service is available worldwide, except US.
We are always looking for ways to expand into the US but it is not possible at this time.

Coinapult pay the transaction fees (miners fees) for you.
There will obviously be the cost of a txt msg, which will depend on your contract.

can all be done from your phone, without the need for the internet.
We are very excited to bring you this new development and
