Great to hear that we are on our way to a refund and compliments on following this through.
Just a point of clarification, I paid R1 with USD and R2 +upgrades with BTC, as some others did.

The R1 invoice was billed using BTC so theoretically  we would be refunded the BTC value paid in Aug. 2013.
The R2 round was paid in USD but as I remember we paid the upgrade in BTC or am I wrong?

This can lead to a confusing situation  Huh

We agreed to buy out the original R2 buyer in FIAT and we were billed in USD by HF so there is nothing we can do about that but R1 IMO should be paid out in the form we receive the refund - legal costs and escrow of course.

We invested in the co-op not the equipment. The co-op has done well, in part due to the original investors returning investment. That said we all knew this was a risk from the start and thats just part of the mining game.

Maybe the fairest way to do this would be to take all the HF batch 1 orders put them together and divide the total - costs and pay out the total divided per share purchased. I would love to get as much as I can out of any refund but we all got fooled by HF collectively. I would not mind getting a bit less back knowing that we all got compensated by HF..

This is by no means a critique but a suggestion I propose to DZ co-op members who invested in HashFast equipment.

Any ideas on this?

I'm up for a Refund if possible. The lack of good communication on HashFast's part is a little too BFLesque for me, they are not helping themselves at all with this unsettling radio silence.

Some of the language on the Hashfast site makes me worried about when we put this order in.

Specifically from the third line of the Upgrade Kit description: "This offer is only valid while supplies last". I'm concerned that Hashfast is treating this upgrade more like an promotion, rather than an honest upgrade option for the Baby Jet Batch 1. So I think it would be good to upgrade as soon as possible, putting an order in as soon as we have enough shares bought between R1 and R2, or getting some clarification from Hashfast as to the ongoing availability of the Upgrade.

Including myself, it seems like there is a significant interest "picking up the slack" for these upgrade shares. I mean why would there not be? This is probably the cheapest $/Gh available until 2014. Along what thomas_s was saying, I think we should treat this upgrade as 40 (or 80 if we include both R1 and R2) new shares. Following the model of the original GB: Allow people to put in soft reservations, each person would be guaranteed their ability to upgrade their shares until a certain % of reservations/payments is hit, then a deadline for payment would kick in after which all unpaid shares would be made available to others in the GB. (Possibly through a bidding system or something else, can be decided upon once we get there...)

The current payments would obviously stand, but if something like 75% of the payments came in I think it is unfair to let the 25% remaining to hold back the rest of us (especially since there is good demand for their shares). You could insert whatever percentages you deem fair, but I think it's time to get the ball rolling on this.

This is all just a suggestion but having a little more structure/transparency to the upgrade process can not hurt. Any thoughts?  Huh

I know we went with Hashfast, but congratz to KNC today, announcing that the Juipiter will run 550+ Gh/s. 28nm ASIC is real now and here to stay (for the next couple months at least  Wink)

So DZ, if you aren't too busy, how many shares are in for the Hashfast Upgrade so far?  Huh

If some R2 members don't want to upgrade I would be very interested in purchasing their portion of the upgrade. If you don't want to upgrade PM me or post here, I'm interested in taking over 2-3 upgrade shares at cost. Smiley

Does something like this seem fair to the rest of the Co-op?  Huh

Also the MPP doesn't kick in until 3 months in, that is a long time in the Mining world. I feel better doubling our Hashrate in December, in comparison to quadrupling it February. Who knows what the Difficulty will be then?

Nope no delay. The original miner ships regularly. They would ship a 2nd chip to us when Batch 2 starts shipping. We would install the chip on our end, it just drops into the board. This upgrade would allow us to double our hashrate approximately 1 month after we start mining.

With overclocking, we could have ~1TH/s in December. I like that idea Grin

Looks like we have a decision to make:

I know what you are thinking, this group buy is getting more expensive all the time!

FYI: I vote for an upgrade

So what's the total vote now? I think we are a little late to the KNC party, but the window of profitability for any of the mfg. we are considering is pretty short. So I'm inclined to throw my vote to KNC just so we can get this going. Time is really of the essence right now. Undecided

I am in for a Bitmine solution, if they are still offering confirmed Dec 2013 shipping dates.
On the issue of a CoinCraft Rig vs. Desk. I'm in for whichever one has the lowest GH/$ cost.

The Desk has a higher confirmed Turbo hashrate, but based on the quote below wouldn't the Rig have more overhead for Turbo mode?
Therefore might it be possible for the Rig to have a lower GH/$ cost while running in Turbo mode?

I posted in the official Bitmine CoinCraft thread asking for the Turbo hashrate of the Rig. I would like to hear some official response on this issue before we order,
but I am in for Bitmine either way.

3. Are the hashing cards for Coincraft Rig and Coincraft Desk compatibile?
Good question, we should add it to the FAQ. Actually no, they are completely different designs: the desk is cheaper and uses less chips running at higher power usages while the rig is more expensive, has an higher amount of chips and they're running cooler.

On the issue of CoinCraft Desk vs. Rig. I'm pretty sure the Rig has a turbo mode too. It is just not advertised very well.

Off the website:

"the Rig can be configured to suit your hashing needs anywhere from 500 Gigahash/s up to an astonishing 2 Terahash/s.
Thanks to the proprietary PowerTune feature, boost the maximum mining speed with Turbo mode when the difficulty is low,
then turn it to powersaving mode to reduce the operational costs and extend its profitability life."

They don't post any numbers but I think it would be safe to assume that boost per GH you get from Turbo on the CoinCraft Desk
would be proportional to the boost you would get on the Rig.

I would recommend hoping around the regular forums a bit. Most of the places you just listed have threads outside of the noob section. Do your own research there and make an informed decision, or post this in the regular forum. The Newbie section is not a good place for finding the best info.

My personal recommendation is go the the Group buy section under Mining -> Hardware -> Group buy.

If you choose the right person you can own a slice of an actual machine for cheaper than most of these sites, and you have a person you can talk with who will be managing the hardware. It's more personal and you will learn way more about the hardware itself.

If you don't like that, you are probably better off buying some mining stocks.

That is my 2 satoshi's

I find it funny. I paid for my BFL hardware exactly three days before the first post on this thread. Personally I now can say that I was not scammed by BFL.

Now to be honest BFL is a bull-shit company, they lied with the Two Weeks again and again, now they are pulling some new bull shit with this Monarch Card crap, a terrible company.

But I finally recieved my hardware, and I will reach ROI by the end of the year.

Now they certainly scammed the community shipping time wise but I do not think they ever intended to take pre-order money and not deliver a product.

I think that BFL is a grossly mismanaged company with a whiny child like PR guy (sorry Josh, but real companies don't bitch on a public forum). But come on, what is BFL doing that Avalon hasn't at this point? I don't see people calling for Yifu to get a scammer tag.
