Re: [GUIDE] Complete Guide to Flashing Your MSI TwinFrozr 7950

Just wanted to say thanks for this guide! I just got a 7950 in the mail today and within a couple of hours I managed to go from about 140 Kh/s to a solid 600 Kh/s and only 66 degrees (fan at 56 percent).  I know I have more room to play right now but I am at 0.962 v, 1000 Mhz core clock and mem at 1250 with an I=18.  No hardware errors.  Very pleased and I know this saved me a TON of time!

Now, does anyone know where I can attend a crypto-anonymous meeting, I think drugs are less addicting...

Hahaha np man, glad I could help.

And yes, it can be very addicting  Grin

noob question but say i flash a different bios say eg club 3d r9 with a tri x bios would it make it hash as hard

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you but I would not recommend that. Flash the bios on a video card, that where not meant for that specific card, could potentially brick it and render it useless.

Okay maybe i am just a fucking noob but i want to solo mine starcoin.

my config file:
Sample starcoin.conf:
listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=Avrillis
rpcpassword=a
rpcallowip=10.1.1.1
rpcport=18217
addnode=63.246.129.56
addnode=68.0.160.3
addnode=203.20.114.252
addnode=77.172.80.106
addnode=190.14.37.111
addnode=159.224.220.21

My wallet syncs but cgminer wont start with these settings:

"C:\Program Files\cgminer-3.7.2-windows\cgminer.exe" --scrypt -o 10.1.1.1:18217 -u Avrillis -p a -I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-fan 50-80 --temp-target 60 --auto-fan --temp-cutoff 85

Only thing i am not sure with is the rpcallowip=??? first there was 10.1.1.* but dont know what i should replace * with

If your running the wallet with "-server" on the same computer your mining on then use rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 so your configs would look like

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=Avrillis
rpcpassword=a
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=18217
addnode=63.246.129.56
addnode=68.0.160.3
addnode=203.20.114.252
addnode=77.172.80.106
addnode=190.14.37.111
addnode=159.224.220.21

"C:\Program Files\cgminer-3.7.2-windows\cgminer.exe" --scrypt -o 127.0.0.1:18217 -u Avrillis -p a -I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1000 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-fan 50-80 --temp-target 60 --auto-fan --temp-cutoff 85

I'm getting ~638kH/s with 22400 1050/1450 1.025v I18 (MSI set to 1025) but it runs at 77-80 at 85% Fan. I've tried everything that I can think of to still keep the high hash rate but lower temps.
I can't do I20 my gpu doesn't like it, 18 is my max.

Is your miner in a computer case or open?

Haven't ever tried just copying over the block chain before, usually just copy the whole folder but here you go. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zqpwezd7viyp1rj/STR%20Blockchain.rar

I think that's all you need

Copy those files to the Starcoin folder with your wallet
Delete any "log" files in the database folder
and run starcoind with -rescan

lemme know if it works

I don't get it, the coin was released July 19, 2013 and now it's back from the dead? Cryptsy, coinwarz, most valuable coin to mine? And some people have been mining this all the time?!?  Shocked

When the coin wasnt listed on an exchange, the difficulty fell down to allmost 0. People who kept mining Could be very rich now.  Unfortunately the difficulty had increased since Cryptsy listed it again.

HOLLA! I never lost faith in this coin  Grin

Your an idiot

I know someone trying to set up the largest starcoin pool, but the source won't compile. Dev needs to be active in this thread. It's back on cryptsy, fix these issues quick and we can have a network once more.

I got it to compile just fine.

Compiled fine for me to
try adding a folder named "obj" inside ./starcoin/src then compile

Was just gonna say.

Also, Anyway to speed up this blockchain? Took 30 mins just to get 10% through ffs.

I could upload the .dat files

Dammit! lol

the website is backup

http://starcoin.info/Starcoin.zip

with a diff of 0.01 there is some easy mining of this coin

Because ther is no issues with the coin, there was no reason for cryptsy to delist it.

If everyone can be asking him to relist it, perhaps he will, when he sees there is still big interest in this coin.

I made a support ticket about Starcoin under their "Coin Suggestions" tab and they just closed the ticket without ever responding. Sad

I know Cryptsy has been cutting coins that they think don't have active devs. Maybe if you could give them a shout and tell them that's everything is all good with the coin they will be more willing to add it back. Idk, it's worth a shot. Thanks for everything nzdude!

I sent you a PM btw

I just downloaded the new client and it is up to date, with the standard config file which is at the beginpost.

However, I'm unable to solo mine. Could a solo miner send me the text of his .conf file?
Here is my starcoin.config

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser="Pick any username"
rpcpassword="Pick any password"
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=18217
addnode=198.50.233.16
addnode=63.246.129.56
addnode=192.241.182.189
addnode=37.229.117.57
addnode=172.250.241
addnode=198.50.233.16
addnode=188.252.16.109
addnode=216.158.85.123
addnode=69.9.152.126
addnode=63.246.129.56
addnode=198.136.62.201
addnode=108.62.211.51

Create a shortcut of the original starcoin-qt, right click the shortcut, click properties, and at the end of the "Target" path add " -server" with the included space so that it looks something like this

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa257/alastrim1/Starcoinserver.png

then just point your miner to 127.0.0.1:18217 with your selected username and password and you should be good to go.

Starcoin

we need starcoin back!!!

i have almost 200k

pm me

I remember this coin. I fell in love with it when it came out. Are you sure the "dev" is no longer devving it?

Direct quote from the dev of Starcoin

"The coin is working fine without problems, since the last fix.

I can still help, but I think the community should nominate somone else more devoted, who has more skills and time and who wants to take over development and marketing of the coin.

This is opensource anyone can take over development and make improvments if its needed.

Its not up to me whether or not the coin dies, but up to everyone who uses it."

wasnt there a fork or something and its not fixed yet?

There was a fork but it was fixed over a month ago and cryptsy is on the correct block chain.
How can you tell?  Cryptsy hasn't traded starcoin in a long time.

Because they still have the wallet up. I deposit a little in there every now and then to see if it works, and it does. I really wish they would just open trades up for it.

Am I the only one who cant buy or sell starcoin?

Skelephtna

No, you are not the only one. The market was taken down awhile back and they refuse to answer any questions about it, even though their wallet is synced up with the correct block chain and the coin is running fine.

I would have to say it's lack of RAM, but out of curiosity, have you ran

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

from the command prompt?

EDIT: Also, what version of cgminer are you using?

Has anyone had trouble with their Starcoin-qt crashing recently?
No, any troubles.

Well, I was for the past few days. Wallet kept crashing and wouldn't stay open, it seems to be ok now but it's running super slow and has about a 3 sec delay between when I click something and it actually opening what I click.
Most likely you are generating PoS blocks now.. check your transactions

Yes, I am but would that have been the cause of it crashing?

I am looking into this today. Listed on coinex

It is? I don't see it listed.
