Some interesting thoughts on current market situation, from our DAO member mr. DRAPAL.

Crypto volatility; a blessing!
A message drawn from Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Many crypto investors and almost all fragelista economists (99% of economists) fear that
volatility on crypto markets are the sign of internal crypto weakness.
Experienced traditional investors know that volatility of stock price is not bad at all. They
know volatility exists and they try to make profit from it. Should volatility not exist, there
would be no financial markets and no traders.
But one can nowadays find much more compelling argument in favor of market volatility.
Book Antifragile written by Nassim Nicholas Taleb provides readers not only with stuff that
is fun to read, but on the top of that with exhaustive comparison of fragile and antifragile
(complex) systems.
Since we do not want to complicate here, let us make a simple statement, that our aim in
life is to be as antifragile as possible. Very robust systems are often resisting tensions very
long, but then they break without warning. What is additional treat connected to fragile
systems is that they break like a jar. Damage is irreversible. Antifragility on another side
describes (very simplified explanation) a system that is capable to survive or even become
more resistant with fluctuations around. We go to steam bath and throw ourselves in cold
water afterwards so that we could survive larger temperature differences later in real life.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb wrote Antifragile in 2012. It is quite curious that despite being ex very
successful Wall Street trader he never mentions Bitcoin. Ok. At that time Bitcoin was not yet
as a hype as today. What I am sure he would understand volatility of Bitcoin and other
crypto currencies as a sign of their antifragile nature: I would add that younger systems (if
they survive first period of their life) are by definition more antifragile than older though we
do have few companies that are older than 500 years and some institutions that are couple
of thousands of years old.
The point of the system itself is that more the entities that enter such system (in our case
investors) are fragile, better for the system. Beware of systems in which all participants
thrive for longer period. You can be sure that such system is doomed.
Investors in crypto world are extremely exposed due to volatility. And that is good. Not for
each particular investor, but for a system as such.
But if here presented story holds, then Tether might be an element, that make the system
dangerously fragile. An actor within a volatile system that is 100% stiff (linked to a Dollar),
might look as nice try to connect crypto with fiat world, but is as such lowering volatility of
crypto world, making investors safer on short run but the system less antifragile in next
steps.

Disclosure: Author is a member of CreditBit DAO.
Disclosure 2: Author is in no way connected to Taleb, so the advice to read Antifragile, that
is from my opinion much more important than acclaimed Black Swan, is unbiased.

Our DAO member Ivan Beljan shares his thoughts on CRB, Blockchain & Bubbles

Take a look at this price chart:
https://imgur.com/a/uPY30

Can you guess what it is? Looks similar to current Bitcoin chart doesn’t it? Time scale on the bottom gives a clue it’s got something to do with the Dot-com bubble. Yes, it’s actually a Qualcomm chart which was one of the hottest stocks during the late 90’s boom. It rose from $3 to almost $70 in less than a year. What would have you thought about it back then? A good long term investment? A bubble?

For me the blockchain, both as technological innovation as well as an investment opportunity, resembles the internet a lot. It’s a disruptive technology that challenges incumbent solutions to a wide array of problems and will change our lives in an unforeseen fashion. Very similar stories 20 years apart.
While I’m bullish on the blockchain as a technology I’m not as bullish on thousands of crypto coins currently listed on crypto exchanges. Internet now is many times bigger than it was in the 90s but internet companies from the 90s did not grow alongside, on the contrary, most are non-existent.
Pets.com was worth $300 million at one point in 1999. It had no customers, no inventory and no idea how to ever make a profit. It did have a website. And that was all it mattered to investors lured by the novelty and recent price action. It feels exactly the same all over again on an even bigger scale with the influx of all the nonsense initial coin offerings this year.

So who will profit from the rise of blockchain technology? The internet parallel suggests market will eventually wipe out the frauds and the hot air projects while companies and projects with actual applications will move on to become much bigger.
Here’s Qualcomm chart after 1999:
https://imgur.com/a/wGkmw

A steep run up in 1999 was followed by a crash in 2000 but eventually the company came back and will probably rise to new highs.

Microsoft is an even better success story:

https://imgur.com/a/JX5kG

MSFT lost more than 50% when the bubble burst in 2000 but eventually recovered all of it and is now more than double it was at the height of a dot-com bubble.
I believe crypto world is in a bubble now which will inevitably burst. The bubble does not imply something is worthless, it might have just gone too far too soon and my view is the best current blockchain projects will have a price trajectory similar to Qualcomm or Microsoft.

Bursting of a bubble is like a forest fire, destroys many but provides an even better soil for the survivors and the newcomers. As Bitocin and cryptos have reached the masses and mainstream media the history teaches us the moment of truth is very near.

CreditBit has sound technological fundamentals and well-thought distribution model which provide a good platform to build upon. Finding a way to utilize the technology and marketing it to potential customers is key to a long term growth.

Talk to you soon again.

Matic Tovšak, our DAO Memeber, shares his view on CRB in next article.

More about Mr. Tovšak:
Matic Tovšak graduated in 2011 at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (University of Ljubljana) from the field of discrete mathematical models and algorithms for stock options valuation. After graduation, he acquired a job at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science in the Computer Vision Laboratory, where he worked as a development engineer in the field of bio metrics (development of a fingerprint verification system). Working as a development engineer, he attended conferences ERK (International Electronic and Computer Science Conference) 2012 and ROSUS 2012. He has huge amount of experience in field of the world financial markets and the mechanics of the financial derivatives. His knowledge was also applicable in variety of industries one of his favourite was currency exchange market.

Where do we see CreditBit in the future

Despite the fact that cryptocurrencies attracted quite a growing investor following and media
attention in the past few years, a certain questions regarding their future and their usability remain
opened. As an alternative to Bitcoin, a large number of companies emerged and launched their own
cryptocurrencies. This brings us to CreditBit, which is an open source project and also a new
Ethereum based ERC 20 compliant token with a lot of attracting features. And although its features
make it an interesting value at the moment, in the future we would very much like to see it not only
as a speculation capital dormant in a digital wallets of its owners in the hope of increasing its future
exchange value, but rather taking it to the point where market participants could see it as a stable
and trusted store of value. Judging by the list of companies that accept digital currencies (namely
Bitcoin) at the moment, such statement doesn't come over as presumptuous at all. The problem that
still persists is that with a fluctuating value and questionable liquidity, such funds can either help or
hurt the company that accepts them. Since majority prefer stability over volatility, there are still a lot
of people and companies that are not comfortable with a thought about moving their assets into
something with extreme daily fluctuations of their net worth and poor liquidity. The aforementioned
issue could be addressed through an intermediary market making entity that would provide a
purchase and sale solutions for investors by holding a larger volume of an a instrument in order to
keep the market liquid, hence satisfying the supply and demand of the market.
In this context, CreditBit should strive to improve its usability and ultimately reach a point in future
where we could see it not only as a more stable (less volatile) and easy enough for consumers to
understand but mainly as a trusted store of value with an adequate degree of safety.

Share your thoughts with us.

Dear Community,

as our DAO members are already in full working mood we are sharing this months thoughts on Crypto currencies from one of our member mr.Drapal Andrej. Please read and let us know what you think!

Mora about mr. Drapal:

ANDREJ DRAPAL
Andrej Drapal puts together extremely various studies and professional engagements from the past to present. He was active as publisher and editor in student times. He was widely publicised author of critical essays in culture, arts and civic affairs. He was theatre and film producer. He was co founder of first and still largest and most respected public relations and marketing agency in Sloevenia. He founded first professional lobby association in Slovenia. He founded Chamber of professional services of Slovenia. He was member or president of various boards among them president of National Gallery board for 2 mandates and is member of Ljubljana festival program board. He served as consultant for more than 200 Slovenian and international companies. His method lies on solid philosophical foundations (he studied philosophy), neuroscience, evolutionary theory and contemporary liberal economy foundations.

His post:

Crypto currency values

With the announcement that Bitcoin reached $9.000 mot probably $10.000 when this post is read by anyone, the question of what is "the real" value of Bitcoin Ethereum or altcoins is going to reach highs in parallel.

Me, being a tender novice to crypto world and to blockchain world, and at the same time with no inclinations towards capital markets derivatives and futures and feeling and understanding hashtag as a kind of obscure hobbit lurking from a computer screen not understanding a bit of its DNA, cannot really discuss questions of digital (technology) currency (finance). But I will. From the position of value creation that is the central issue of branding and business modeling. And I do tend to understand myself as one that is involved in branding issues daily.

First of all, there are two values of cc. (cryptocurrency) on the market. First one is exchange value of each currency. There are around 1300 such currencies on the market at the moment. Site conmarketcap.com looks behaves like forex page, each cc. being a state with its own currency. I will leave aside at the moment the question whether cc. currencies based on ICO are not in fact as many FIAT currencies as Dollar or Euro.

What makes cc. crucially different from offline currencies it that there are decentralized. But then: what prevents states being decentralized? They could in principle. So, the mere fact that cryptocurrencies are decentralized does not make them that much different from offline currencies. They behave like national fiat currencies that can be exchanged among each other on the basis of their exchange value. This means that most probably since there is no central authority behind any of them, they will unlike offline currencies merge and emerge over time.

But what creates the value that defines their exchange value?

Part of the question lies in the fact that cc.s' are fiat currencies if they are based on ICO's. Why? Because they rest on debt towards investors. They are nothing but futures at the same time. The debt that makes the basis of cc.s' are future services that are going to be monetized through each of cc. But while we know that the USA is never going to pay all debts on which Dollar is resting, we do not know whether particular cc. is going to create a service that value of which is going to fill the gap towards market capitalization of this particular cc. It might, but as well it might not. In later case, investors are going to lose. But only investors in specific cc.

And here we come to the second, more important value of most of the cc.s' and especially altcoins. While Bitcoin and Ethereum (and some other cc.'s as well???) do not have any specific service as a backbone value creation device behind, a majority of altcoins rest on ICO that had specific service promise as its pitch. And this is first really an important difference from offline currencies, at least from my point of view. Altcoins are behaving like a Dollar that could serve as a coin for toothpaste, airfare or gold.

If this is true, and I am not at all certain that this is true, then we might come up with zillions of different cc.s', each one for one product or service or each one for few of them. Should that happen then the question of the intrinsic value of such currency would evaporate since such value would be a capital/market value of such service or product?

As we all know, there are offline projects that behave like Altcoins. Various local currencies have developed all around the world that tends to represent more intrinsic value than national currencies, but are confined to be exchanged for specific local products or municipal services only. Cryptocurrencies thus from my point of view bring nothing new, but blockchain decentralization backbone. And as we all know; this backbone really makes difference for no offline local product based currency passed the test of time. Well, we could not say that 10 years of cc.s' proves the test of time, but what is proven is that local and particular events became instantly global through this decentralized technology only.

So, at the end it is true that cc.s' cannot inflate since the final distribution amount is defined at the very beginning and cannot be changed, and should thus not be subjected to offline currencies inflation, but since there are in principle no restrictions for introductions of new cc.s', the inflation is necessary on the level of all of them. On the other side, we know that due to market principles, that govern the decentralized digital world as much as offline analog worlds, inflation is going to be self-regulated due to intrinsic link between each cc and its products and services.

Tlak to you soon.

so yea, i know that creditbit team work very hard to make this coin more unique, this is great and i really appreciated the hard work done by creditbit team.

However, less communication is what we concern now.
I hope to see more tweets from Creditbit even there no development news. You can post some crypto news, educate people why creditbit is important, and real usage in the market. Try another channel as well, such as Reddit, Steemit, and Medium etc. This will definitely help the development of Creditbit!

Thank you so much for your feedback!

We are now starting to post also on Reddit and slowly on other channels.

Thank you for proactive support, and suggestion.

Hello community,

we are happy to announce that we have started the next phase of development cycle...

So we have published CreditDAO - https://etherscan.io/address/0x40219dd5412e3DF40CA3c1C9A7c47786028E626c#code where first ever elections have started. The elections will be over in a month and who ever wants can candidate can do this via a simple method on the contract(sumbitForElection()), with this you become candidate and can start getting votes.

For users that want to vote there is a simple method(vote(address _participant)), where you can vote with your locked balance for the candidate, but be aware if your locking period expires before the end of elections your vote will be denied. In that case you must lock your coins for a little bit longer.

At the end of the elections we will get the team that will be the managing the dao finances for the next year, we wish all the candidates a good and fair elections.

We have also deployed CreditDAOFund - https://etherscan.io/address/0xf8fB6940bb64016375B7d5Db477d03fd3F4BA699#code wich holds the dao coins and ensures that they cannot be withdrawn. Besides that only the CEO of creditDAO will be able to claim locking rewards.

You can expect the detailed development plan soon, but for now we will publish Election instructions soon and untill the end of the month we will publish first creditGame.

Yours creditdev

Greetings community,

we would like to point out some facts about the team. “narnar” on August 13th copied the old team members which developed Creditbit 1.0. “Ajeto” replied him with the proper explanation on August 16th. Considering the old team please refer to this explanation.

We, the development team behind the Creditbit 2.0. are working hard to bring DAPP and CreditGame to you ASAP.

As from today, we engaged the Community Relations Manager, who will address you here as “CreditBit-cm”. Please allow him some time to get used to his role, but he will watch this space and try to reply all the questions ASAP. He will take a lot of burden from our shoulders, leaving us more time and energy for the development.

Furthermore, we assigned the Team Manager, his alias here is “CreditBit-tm”. His role is to find and engage the proper candidates to form the List of Candidates for the Executive Board, so expect the elections soon.

I would like to point out once more that the way Creditbit 2.0 will evolve is described in the Whitepaper, so if you haven't, please read it here:  https://www.creditbit.org. It is available in English, Chinese, Portugese and Slovenian.

cheers,
Yours dev team.

Greeting also from Community Relations Manager.

I will give my best to serve the Community by posting up to date and value adding information.

All our track record data and information regarding our experience will be given in near future.

Talk to you all soon again.
