Re: Collateral Risk!
by
Crypto Capital

Don't forget to check contract address for ERC20 token. There is high risk. Multiple case happened with fake token. Scammers just send fake token as collateral. Actually that's wasn't real token. So if you are going to ask alt coins collateral than check first on CMC to confirm token contract address. Also you can check which exchange are listed. It will better for you. It's should not only check for collateral, you should check also like airdrop, or if some one offering cheap price. Than also you need check contract address. I have noticed sometimes scammers promote fake token and try to sale cheap price. In that case also you should check from CMC.

I agree with this, I had someone send me a couple hundred in fake Eidoo. A good way to ensure you are not getting fake collateral is to hold the collateral directly on an exchange as exchanges wont accept fake coin.

Yo Crypto Capital, hows it going?  Let me note first off on posting pretty much the same requestbwith Loan Sharks thread - if either accepts or offers a loan, the other request is obviously null and void, and I will note this on that reply/request to his topic.

Its basically the same request - to pay for the overhead of what I want to do, I got a job doin what I got to do for awhile, start Wednesday and looking for a loan to make it through two weeks and 3 days roughly 100-150$ would satisfy easily.  For collateral, I have this account, I would hope what someone referred to as "low post count for a almost full member" and some other snide remark (I dont know why I got a hater, hasnt been ony ass too much lately, mostly states what I have clearly stated...) would be taken as more or less a compliment seen as me being a non-spamming reader and researcher, so I dnt gotta ask a lot of shiz, except in the case of a loan.  Been fighting for a loan for a real long while, since too early For Sure, but again find an opporunity to get by till payday, make progress on something website related, and move forward.  I will explain that in a p.m.

I appreciate your time and if the domain names I send would not be used as collateral, note that 1/3 of the funds, perhaps slightly more would be used to advance The ONE Tongue

Dear Members
Please, I want to understand something...

I want to take a loan but i can send  mobile phone as collateral
For example, a  mobile phone equal 800$ had a loan of $ 500
And this phone is collateral

Is this a good collateral or what?
Note that I can not do more than that
Please help me

if yes okay
if no , how i can buy bitcoin with mobile phones??

Yes a mobile phone is fairly decent collateral, I'd probably go for it. The lender would probably check the IMEI and appraise it's true second hand worth but if you've got like the latest iPhone or something I imagine that would work.

My BTC is tied down and could use some leverage

Loan: 0.1BTC
Duration: up to 30days

interest: negotiable, would prefer 5%

Collateral: 140-150% EDO or NCASH. Both are traded heavily on Binance.

I will only deal with trusted lenders.

I am interested, though I may not be considered a "trusted lender" at this point, I have funds secured in escrow in advance to protect you and they are currently worth more than enough to cover this, you can read more in my lending thread in my signature, I would be happy to work with you. Re: Bitcoin lightning nodes, 240% per year? What am I missing
by
Crypto Capital
on 03/07/2018, 01:44:40 UTC
I recently came across this article regarding setting up a bitcoin lightning network node which was highly up voted on Reddit
107 upvotes is hardly "highly upvoted"
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/8toaze/the_lightning_network_a_huge_opportunity_to_learn

Quote
by this guy presumably from lightning labs
i can not find any affiliation between the author (Marc van der Chijs) and Lightning Labs. if i am missing it please give me the link.

unfortunately i can't answer your questions but i feel like he is exaggerating some stuff for some reason and people on reddit are also skeptical about it.
the thing about LN is that it is like a competition for lower fees. so if a node is asking for a high fee it will be ignored and the other nodes will be used with a lower fee. (the cheapest route will be chosen). so i don't think the returns he is promising are possible, at least not now with low number of transactions on LN. maybe in a year when there are millions tx/day we can see higher returns.

Yeah you're right, it's not that highly upvoted I just remembered it from the top at one point. I don't get what this guys motive is blowing his returns out of proportion or why he totally made up the "theoretical models" of 80% returns per annum. Very weird.

Hi. I'm not usually one to ask for loans, but my ETH withdrawal at Bitfinex has been pending for a long time, frustratingly, and I need those funds to make a time-sensitive bet. I can cover the loan value with BTC. This is going to be an extremely quick affair, and I'll give you .001 BTC for helping me out.

Thanks,
Hatcher

You are offering the full value in BTC as collateral? I'd be down with that. Feel free to use 3rd party escrow of course

Bitcoin lightning nodes, 240% per year? What am I missing
by
Crypto Capital
on 01/07/2018, 23:56:39 UTC
I recently came across this article regarding setting up a bitcoin lightning network node which was highly up voted on Reddit by this guy presumably from lightning labs which you can see here. What struck me is the following claims;

1.
Quote
There are theoretical models out there that predict a return of 60-80% returns for well connected nodes.

Where are these theoretical models? Surely the low barrier of entry to creating a node would prevent running one from being so profitable?

2.
Quote
You can become the 6th most connected node with an investment on only $2,000

What is the barrier to becoming the 1st most connected node if the cost is only $2,000? Is it extremely time intensive to set up channels? Marketing?

3.
Quote
This persons real life returns are at a rate of approximately 20% per month.

Why isn't everyone doing this and driving the returns down at rates like that?

I know that genuine gold rush opportunities exist as I have had the opportunity to exploit a couple in the past and risk is not always proportional to return but I feel like this guy would not be posting this article if the opportunity was really as good as he makes it sounds. Thoughts?

Re: [2018-06-26] Breaking New Ground: South Africa Gets Its First Bitcoin Atm
by
Crypto Capital
on 26/06/2018, 14:30:58 UTC
In 2004, South Africa got its first ever bitcoin ATM at Kyalami in Johannesburg but reports say it was closed as there was no significant user interest in it.

Can't blame them for not having much interest in 2004 considering the ATM would have been selling a currency that did not even exist at that point. Should have much better results now that the company doesn't have to defy the laws of time and space to provide the service
