There has not been a significant code change, just a bit of tidying up and a makeover so this should work with the block data you have already downloaded.
That being said, before downloading, BACK UP YOUR WALLET AND BLOCK DATA FILES!!!
We have tested the wallet and have confidence that it works but you should always take precautionary measures to insure that your data is safe.
We will have a mac build put up on the site as soon as we can. Thanks for bearing with us! More fun updates are coming!

With this update comes some much needed maintenance such as removing the old alert system and mining functions.
 We have reduced the amount of items that will cause an Anti-Virus to flag the program from 22 to 2.
You may still need to white-list the wallet with your AV. Be sure you wait for the wallet to sync completely before first use.

Hi, if you are talking about the message; "Urgent Alert key compromised", dont worry it is a remnant of the old bitcoin alert system, ( read more about that here; https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Alert_system ) it is removed from code for the new wallets.
DEVs are working on new wallets, some of which are being in test phase now and are expected to be available soon.

As for your coins, if you sent them to the right address the coins should appear when your wallet is fully synced.

Windows defender is off on my pc, trying to turn it on but proves difficult somehow. Anyway Avast ( which I think is one of the best anti-virus) didn't flag anything.

Just scanned the file again with Malwarebytes and Avast, nothing wrong..

Can send it to you if you want, so you can check for yourself.

No you shouldnt have to rename folders, if you have the wallet running you could just leave it for a couple of days to sync, thats what I did.

If you are talking about the newyorkc-qt.exe file you downloaded from the website there is nothing to extract. You download it, place it where you want it, can even be on your desktop and you run it.

How far did you get with installing the wallet? If your talking about extracting the blockindex, you can just extract it to any folder thats convenient for you then right click and select copy, go to the
the newyorkc folder in appdata>roaming and right click in the folder and select paste.
 Or alternatively from the window where you extracted the files click and select the files and drag the files to the open  newyorkc folder and click replace files.
