I'm in talks with some new devs to either switch the current algo or relaunch and send people new coins based on their holdings.

Please switch to to the Myriad system and not x11 x13 etc.

As in myriadcoin?

I like the multiple algo idea but the coin itself has been around a while and isn't doing all that well, are there some technical problems with it?

Spoke to Adrian yesterday and he is currently looking into possibly moving to a less energy hungry/heat generating algorithm such as X11.  Nothing 100% but he is looking into it.
This is possible, I believe other coins have also changed algo, would people prefer to have X11?

It won't make any difference to coin amount or production time just heat generated etc.

If there's enough interest I will start looking at the code to change it.

OK guys - few updates:

Adrian has the block explorer up:

http://explorer.gbcoinfoundation.org/

Also the source/github is here:

https://github.com/th3joker/gbcoin
Thanks soul_eater, I updated the github to the foundation page: https://github.com/GBCoin-Foundation/gbcoin

That was a personal one, they are the same though. I've updated the first post too with all the new stuff in including pools and voting links, explorer and github etc.

Hi guys,

I spoke to Adrian and he hasn't been ignoring me - just a misunderstanding.  Unfortunately the other members of the team have had to leave the project due to other commitments so Adrian has been left to manage on his own.  What we need are new members to join the team and help out.  We also need as many ideas as possible from the community to try to move things forward.  If you believe in the potential of this coin as I do then please help out any way you can.

Arif.
Bogged down with work related stuff sorry guys, Dave and Sara have opted out so I'm gonna try and get some other people involved, there are a couple of people helping out on the forums and I'm going to push forward as much as I can myself.

I will be offering bounties based on performance so anyone interested in trying to put us onto an exchange or new pools please let me know.

Let me start again...

1. The Workshops attract crypto newbies;
2. The crypto newbies wanted advice on buying rigs;
3. Delivery of the Titan rigs is pending - if they live up to the hype, they will be superior to anything currently available (for Scrypt);
4. We know some one who has ordered 10 Titans, and might allow hashing contracts;

Given the above FACTS, surely it's best to advise people at the workshops to hold off! If the Titans live up to the hype, it may better for some of the guys from the workshop to do a group buy of a Titan rather than spending £1k to £2k each on a rig with only 3.5Mh.

The logic is really simple and we cannot understand why you have it all muddled!

I agree with you.

But for British miner at the moment, it is not worth mining as the electricity price is too high. If they believe in crypto currency, they should just buy.

I am English and am making decent money from GPU mining so that isn't a issue.

That's not what was said at all, they said GPU mining would be less profitable due to the release of the KnCminer Titan.

When someone misquotes and adds a bad attitude does that help anyone?

Oh I misread this then did I? have a look again at what was said before you accuse people of misreading, I know what he said it is clear as day for everyone to see.

Adrian was asked about mining rigs and is it worth investing in one? He replied with a big NO, not at the moment.

Sorry but I see a big fat NO.  As for bad attitude get over yourself and stop being over sensitive.  I am just stating it how I see it. Did I call anyone names or anything?  I am sure I gave advice though. And not a "don't bother" attitude that was given by a guy who is supposed to be helping people get into mining.

I can see why you would not like my post though considering your position with this coin.  Anyway, if your team want to go around the country spreading FUD about how its not worth GPU mining crack on, no skin of my nose.  just a shame it had to be my country coin that is doing it.

With the impending KnCMiners costing $10,000, Adrian's advice was to hold off and wait. What advice would you give, specifically?

In the workshop on Tuesday, Adrian was asked about mining rigs and is it worth investing in one? He replied with a big NO, not at the moment.

With the impending KnCMiners (aka The Titan) customized for scrypt-based mining, costing around $10,000, no one for sure knows what will happen when these beasts hit the market! There is rumour that coins not employing some form of effective difficulty targeting (like KGW or DigiShield), may be hit quite hard, but until they arrive no one knows for sure.

Not worth investing in a mining rig at the moment?  Me and my rigs disagree with that heavily.  If you are going to use multipools and coinwarz as a guide I would agree.  But people in the know know better.  As a person who is teaching people about rigs and stuff I am surprised by Adrian's over confident statement, which is totally way off and wrong.

Running Two Wallets at the Same Time
by

Thought I'd share this if others are trying to achieve it for demonstration purposes. The instructions are step-by-step and covered in more detail in the blog post.

With our next workshop planned for tomorrow, we wanted to show the attendees how to send GB Coins from one wallet to another live on the same computer (Windows), so I began experimenting to find a way to do this.

When you try to start a second instance (copy) of the same wallet you get this error: Cannot obtain a lock on data directory

And when you get past the above error, you get another error: Unable to bind (screenshot below).

After some testing we managed to get past both errors and get two working but separate wallets on-screen, with each wallet successfully sending coins to the other one

We launched GB Coin just over a week ago. Since then, we’ve had a growing number of posts on the forum. We’ve added a free coin faucet. We’ve been blogged about, tweeted and Facebooked.

Our free workshops are gaining press:

http://coinjoint.info/gb-coin-holding-crypto-workshops-help-spread-awareness-knowledge/

http://www.bitcoinalmanach.de/englands-cryptocurrency-der-gb-coin/

The first workshop went well and our second is tomorrow.

http://blog.gbcoinfoundation.org/next-free-crypto-workshop-on-tuesday-22-april/

We are updating the wallet with new features and starting to work on an Android wallet.

Now, it’s time for the community to step in.
