Bitcoin’s record-setting year is well-documented in the media. But with BTC pushing $6,500 price levels and $109.4 billion in market capitalization, what’s in store for the world’s most popular cryptocurrency?

Famous investors Ray Dalio and Warren Buffett are warning of a bitcoin bubble. But other Wall Street analysts see bitcoin perhaps reaching $10,000 or even $25,000 by next year. BTC dipped to $3,200 in mid-September and has since rallied to over $6,500. Heavy trading (of nearly 300,000 daily transactions) can lead to volatility. But investors are also weary of fiat currencies that lose value over the long-term. As an asset, fiat money almost always devalues. And investors know that with Bitcoin and other cryptos, their money has a fighting chance to appreciate in value. Despite the naysayers, it’s possible that we’ll see Bitcoin go over $10,000 in early 2018.

Cryptos have different features which means coins differentiate themselves by being useful for specific applications. In other words, many coins aren’t trying to replicate Bitcoin; their designers are trying to create something original. For example, an ICO may create a new coin that appeals exclusively to the transportation industry or medical profession and so on. The appeal to different crowds will eventually mean more diversification of crypto investments instead of most capital being allocated in bitcoin.

Pastor Trevón Gross, endorsed by televangelist Joel Osteen, was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the Coin.mx exchange case, which involved bribery and use of a long-established church credit union. He’s the third person to be sentenced in the case.

According to popular employment-finding websites, last quarter alone saw a jump in related work offers.

The Iranian government has been conducting research into the economic and infrastructural aspects of preparing for bitcoin use in its country. According to the ministry of information technology, “arrangements are being made” to put together the infrastructure for the digital currency “as early as possible.”

US president Trump is selecting Jerome Powell as Fed Chair. President Trump is widely expected to nominate Federal Reserve Board of Governors member, Jerome H. Powell, for Senate confirmation as the next chair of the Federal Reserve. The potential Fed chair has previously stated what he sees as a tension with bitcoin as the Fed “could face difficult trade-offs between strengthening security and enabling illegal activity.”

Mr. Powell has held a Fed governor’s seat since 2012, and is currently at the relative beginning of a term that would have kept him installed until 2028.

Governor Powell appears familiar with bitcoin as a currency and Bitcoin as a network.

Ouch this is going to be interesting, As I looked Powell is not anti Bitcoin from what I read.

H.E. Mr. Riad Salamé, the governor of Lebanon’s central bank, Banque Du Liban , told a gathering in Beirut the country’s government is examining a possible state-backed cryptocurrency. Mr. Salamé also commented about bitcoin and the future of digital currencies in Lebanon. “The objective of the financial architecture of the Central Bank aims to secure the stability of the national currency and protect the Lebanese economy,” he assured.

The SEC [Security Exchange Commission ] details objective in new cyber unit. The co-director of the United States Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC)’s Division of Enforcement, Stephanie Avakian, has outlined the mission and enforcement aims of the regulator’s recently formed Cyber Unit and Retail Strategy Task Force. Speaking at a recent Securities Enforcement Forum, the co-director has detailed the objectives of the new unit, including issues specifically pertaining to cryptocurrency.

This really no surprise in my eyes and I see a lot more coming in the future.....

In Michigan local bitcoins charged with unlicensed money transmitting. A regular user of Localbitcoins (a facilitator of exchanging fiat currencies for bitcoin) was formally charged in United States District Court. The Michigan man is accused of violating money transmitting business licensing requirements. 

If you are doing business why would you not have all the proper licenses to operate.....

Is this fair ? Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission (GEC) enforces campaign financing laws in the state. After a local politician asked the GEC for guidance on the issue last week, its new Executive Director announced that bitcoin is “too secretive” to permit Kansas office holders, potential and incumbent, to accept the world’s most popular cryptocurrency. 

This is so interesting as again we see crisis management .....
